KelinTx replied to loveangelpet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It may take a few days for it to kick in. I know mine always do. -
You know you have lost weight WHEN!!!
KelinTx replied to aquasky13's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know you have lost weight when.......you need to move the car seat closer to the stearing wheel cuz your stomach dose get in the way anymore! -
Id head right in for a fill. We all know only to well that 2 pounds turns into 4 then 4 all of a sudden is 10. Much easier to nip it in the bud before it gets out of control.

How Long until you ate out for the 1st time?
KelinTx replied to next12bbanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started dining out as soon as i hit the "mushy" food stage. Always can find a good soup on the menu as well. -
what else can I have on clear liquid diet
KelinTx replied to slimm2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sugar free ice pops helped me through the liquid phase -
My instructions are always no food for 4 hours before and no liquids 2 hours before a fill.

KelinTx replied to thunderstorm816's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH the pain..............i love sweedish fish. Decided id try one...HELLO MISTAKE is all i hafta say. I must say the pain was so bad i will not be indulging in that sweet treat for one very long time to come. -
The best tip i can offer is just reading everything on this site!

I think the key is portion control. I think sitting with an entire container or package of anything that is not deemed ONE serving is only asking for trouble. Its just to easy to go overboard. I agree with one of the above posts that suggests having something to occupy your hands. Even to the point of carring around a bottle of water. Good luck to you!

The rules i get to follow after a fill are just liquids for the rest of the day, does not have to be "clear liquids". The day after it is ok to have soft foods if tollerated then proceed normally. Personally i do the liquid thing the day of the fill and the day after just to avoid any complications. I ease back into it.

Im a die hard coffee drinker, i was not instructed to eliminate it from my diet at any time so...........i drank coffee the day after surgery and have drank it every day since without a single issue.
-
I find it difficult to wait longer then an hour. I really pound the water down in the early am's when im to tight to eat and drink water through out the day even right up untill meal time. But i do wait at least an hour after i eat before i drink anything
-
I am the exact opposite, since shedding a good number of pounds i expell less blood each month.

I have this happen quite frequently also. I sit and wait for that "kerplunk" to happen, i can literally feel it pass then i know i am free to continue with my meal.

And yet another newbie with a problem
KelinTx replied to Rosie_in_Texas's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When i first approached discussing the idea of a weight loss surgery with my husband he just scoffed at the idea. Then low an behold his entire attitude changed when i presented him with the statistics. That being i had such a LARGE amount of weight to lose that statistically doing it on my own i was not going to succeed, as i had failed so often before. BUT with a Weight loss surgery aiding my attempts i had a very good chance of getting within a normal weight range in a reasonable amount of time. Now this far into the journey we are both glad i took the plunge and i could not of asked for a more supportive husband through this whole ordeal. -
I think all doctors are different. My doc added 3cc to mine at the time of surgery.

The nice girls at the fill center i go to explained it this way to me. They compared the band to a belt, as you lose weight the belt gets loser. So if you apply the same to your band as you keep losing weight you lose restriction. Its held very true for me. I have an 11 cc band that is filled to 10 cc at the moment. I always lose great right after a fill then it slows down. When the scale wont move or im overly hungry in a short period of time i always head back in for yet another fill. Im going in for my 11th fill next tuesday.

Help! I'm starving and depressed!
KelinTx replied to okpunkinpie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ice pops..ice pops...ice pops try keeping a slew of them on hand and when your hungry grab one and suck on it slowly, takes a while to consume and gives you that hand to mouth motion of eating. Its only been a week wich is far to soon to just eat whatever you desire. -
Help please...3 fills and still nothing...
KelinTx replied to kevinh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now this is just my personal opinion, but.......i would wait a few weeks. Sometimes fills take a bit to kick in. Im sure you have heard the old adage "slow and steady wins the race", ive found this to be quite effective in my band journey. Its taken me over a year and a half to reach 10cc in my 11 cc band and ive avoided any complications. I just cant help but feel from reading this site religioiusly.......that going "balls to the wall" with fills is just asking for trouble or complications. Mind you its just my personal opinion. -
How much weight have you lost since your banding?
KelinTx replied to mstrina27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
