Everyone: list 3 POSITIVE things about the Lap Band!
KelinTx replied to cb11213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The big number 1 would be... i can no longer binge!! 2 I can move with ease now and do not break a sweat after only a few steps. 3 I feed my shopping addiction rather then my food addiction! -
Fills...from restriction to no restriction
KelinTx replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had one of the girls at the fill center i use explain it to me like this........she likened the lap band to that of a belt. As a person loses weight the belt would become loser an there fore need tightened. So as we lose weight we are losing what i guess is a fat pad around our stomach wich is making the band loser there fore lessening restriction. Seemed to make sense to me. -
I used to retain a ton of water, after surgery i no longer have that problem.

Just keep up the " I CAN DO IT MIND FRAME" and im sure you will have great success! Best of luck to you!

When my one year band anniversary came and i visited my Surgeon for my yearly follow up i disscused the endoscopy with him at that time. I also had recieved a letter stating i was due to have one. I had been and have been problem free from the beginning, there for i did not see it as an absolute necessity. Of course i wanted his input on this, and with his permission i elected to forgo the procedure for the time being.

This is the one that made my jaw drop. Had a manicure appointment, new place had never been there before. Sat down to get my nails done and the first thing the lil lady says to me is...........SO YOU THINK EATING IS FUN HUH?? I was dumbfounded, what do u say to that? So of course i just smiled when inside i just wanted to die.

How the surgery is done?
KelinTx replied to YoungNy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They gave me a gown and said take everything else off. They gave me lil footie type booties to wear. My surgery was done laying down. -
Total shoe addict here, Ive gone hog wild buying all new shoes since losing weight. Its great to be back in heels and have them be comfy! I LOVE SHOES, so much that i buy a new pair every week!

My insurance has also always paid for my fills.

Im going to follow suit and say i agree looser is better! Why risk all the complications that come with a band thats to tight? Ive held true to my less is more feelings when it comes to fills, I had my 11 th fill yesterday. Up to 10.4 in an 11 cc band. Ive never not been able to eat. Can i eat alot........nope......can i eat less and still be statisfied.......YEP. Goal accomplished.

I always asked to be numbed first. The only sensation i feel when they are adding the fluid is some pressure. I had my 11th fill yesterday and not once was i ever in any type of pain.

Travelling after one week of surgery
KelinTx replied to sunflower00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you think you can do the liquid phase while being in a business type work atmosphere i say go for it. I had very little discomfort after the surgery. I was up and about with no problems at all the same afternoon. The only discomfort i had was that my stomach felt like i had done 2 thousand crunches. But that was easily gone in a week. Good luck to you and hope all turns out well with your trip! -
I am also one who simply adores ice cream. So what i do is, one day week i have some. Usually Saturday nights i will have a small cup while watching a movie or whatever. But i only buy the quantity that will get ate by the 3 of us in my house on that one occasion. Then POOF no more temptation is around. I find that if i deny myself i end up sabotaging my efforts worse then if id just gone ahead and had a lil of what i wanted.

Ive never had an issue with it in limited amounts. Give it a whirl!

This is a tad out there but........any chance of finding a doctor willing to donate his banding services, then selling raffle tickets with a lap band being the prize. Would certainly draw more folks that were interested in the procedure.

This post really hit home with me. I read it twice, i felt like you were discribing my situation before i got banded as well. The 6 months is a long haul for sure but i found it passed quickly if i took it a week at a time. The end all has been one of the most greatest things i have ever done for myself. Please hang in there and know that IT WILL GET BETTER and that you can do it!

In answer to your questions.. PB is sort of like burping up food, that you ate to fast or was to much for your new small pouch to handle. Like regurgitation in a way. Alcohol is permitted, I do have a drink on occasion, but i prefer to eat my calories rather then drink them. Is it worth it, i think SO VERY WORTH IT. I dont think i would of stood a chance in hell of losing as much weight as i have doing it on my own. My band has given me a life back.

I wore long mumu type sun dresses, really comfy and nothing to hit your surgery area.
