Hello everyone, I am 3 weeks post off and am feeling pretty good. The one problem I am having is a very bad taste in my mouth coupled with nausea. So eating has been very hard. Even looking at the pureed food list makes me want to gag. I kind of have been doing my own thing - per say - eating slow, chewing very well etc. But using my own foods. So far nothing has bothered me at all. I guess my question is - I am not ruining anything inside am I? I don't have any pain.

Hello everyone I had a quick question: I am on my last week of pureed foods. My doctor had me do 1 week post op Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes, 1 month of puree and 1 month of soft. The puree has be VERY difficult for me in terms of nausea. What I have been doing is eating what is soft enough that I can chew slowly. I am not eating junk - I promise. Nothing has bothered me so far. Do you think this is OK? I guess it's too late now - but I wanted some reassurance!

You and I sound the same. Give you body time! Easier said than done - but be patient. You went through a MAJOR change. That change will have to catch up at some point Hang in there and focus on how you feel rather than the weight (again easier said than done)

That's exciting! Best of luck! Each surgeon/program is different. In the first week or so - it's strict clear liquids and protein shakes. Then you graduated to puree and they're pretty strict with that too. Squash and tomato seem OK but crab seems like it might be too much on your new pouch. Any spices are fine. I am looking to buy some unflavored protein powder - haven't yet. It's so hard because it's so expensive and you can't try it before you buy it! I score my tuna in the can and then with a fork - I've always done it that way. You just don't want large chunks. It's easier in some ways and harder in some ways than I thought. If I were you - I wouldn't make up a bunch of stuff beforehand unless you know your family will eat it. Your taste and smell can change. What you may have liked before may not be your favorite after.

Hi there! I am how you are with food. I tend to gravitate to fresh food as well (lately - not before as this is why I had surgery). The pureed portion of the meal plan is very hard. I am not trying to discourage you but want you to be prepared. My taste buds and senses have changed. Even the word pureed makes me sick. I stick to eggs, cottage cheese and the occasional tuna salad. Pea soup is good with lots of veggies and then puree. When is your surgery??

Good luck!

Thank you! I haven't been going crazy like eating steak and seafood but man - the taste I have in my mouth. BLEH. Thanks for the response! Hope you feel good too!
