You need to be ready
The decision to lose weight came at a time that I was truly ready to make a major shift in my life. It was not for anyone else, not out of guilt or shame but profound self-love. Being ready to take this journey needed to come from a place of love and value of myself. I was nervous to step into the unknown. I had managed to be in my 50’s and not have any surgeries. A month prior to my weight loss surgery I underwent a hysterectomy and that was not planned. I had to change the date of my WLS and deal with another health issue. Friends encouraged me to wait a few months before taking on the WLS but I knew in my heart that I was ready for this journey and it would give me an incredible launch into 2018.
My pre-WLS goal given to me by my doctor was to lose 20lbs – I knew this time would set the pace and focus on what was ahead. My goal is to lose 180lbs. The pre-surgery diet was not bad. Cutting out bread and pasta – not hard, the real demons were sugar and chips. I love pie (s) and my favorite candy snacks, the de-toxic the first 10 days was the hardest part. My days were spent craving everything bad but hour by hour I kept reminding myself that this was all from a place of love. My heart settled and a calm and peace came over me that I had never experienced when trying to lose weight – I was ready.
