POST OP PUKING,FROTHING, STRICTURE!
Duguhlug posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery on 2.15.18. I couldn't keep anything down no matter what it was. I ended up back in the hospital and they gave me a CT Scan with contrast to check for leakage...( Barium is the MOST DISGUSTING!!!). Anywho,There wasn't any leakage but I was extremely dehydrated and had Stricture in my lower GI. Dehydration to the point they had to bring in a radiologist and apply a Ultra Sound to find a good vain for a I. V. as nurses destroyed my vains.. Not their fault might I add.The next morning I had Balloon Enteroscopy. That was on 3.10.18. Since then, I can eat, actually sip liquids and eat sugar fre popsicles. Depression has taken over and my energy level is non-existent. It's trial and error as to what my pouch will allow. Soups, brothes, and popsicles are getting old quickly. I ordered Premiere protein Shakes , needless to say, they taste chalky and terrible.. at least to me.Cant drink Gatorade, sugar free tea, sugar free Snaples, V8 juice ,barely bottled water nor can I eat Unsweetened Applesauce, tomato soup, sugar free pudding. Seeing how I had to revert to a liquid food diet, I cant progress because of intolerence, extreme acid reflux, nausea and frothing. The surgeon did prescribe Ondansetron for nausea and it works a little. Omeprasol doesnt work on me anymore for acid reflux so, I sip Pepto Bismol. My question is,Will I ever get out of this rut? I wish I knew how long I will be this way as my body is melting and muscles are deteriorating. Day of surgery weigh in was 368.8. As of 3.16.18 weight is 328.9. Last October I weighed 384 pounds and went on a diet to lose weight before surgery so yes, the weight is coming off, but at an enormous painful price. I was told I may have to have the Balloon Enteroscopy maybe 2 more times. This journey is not a rocky road, its a boulder road. Anyone that has had this please help me to understand it better.. Bypass? I hope not. The frothing seems to be subsiding. The reflux continues however. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Thanks Mattymatt, As far as the Premiere protein shakes, I ordered the premixed cartons, Chocolate, Strawberry Cream, Banana Cream flavors. Wife decided to add a scoop of halo ice cream and some ice and malt to them and it did make them taste better but I can understandingly only drink about 2 oz's at at time. I pray things get better. Thank you for your kind words. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Surgery in the AM
Duguhlug replied to FloridaGal1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never had surgery before.. I prayed that anesthesia would not take me out. My surgeon said it's very rare anymore of anesthesia problems.. Your real journey begins AFTER the surgery.. soreness yess, pain, for me minimal, learning to eat the stuff they want you to eat...that can be a challenge in your second week. Just remember, fastfoods are poison, high proteins, low carbs for the rest of your life and there are tons of delisious recipes out there that you will love! Good luck, may God help you every step of the way. Marvel at this websites recipes.. yummy!! http://www.trimmedandtoned.com/27-low-carb-high-protein-recipes-makes-fat-burning-easy/ Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I meet with the Surgeon Monday.. he wants me to try this first.. so far today, removing the kinda normal stuff,i.e. creamy chicken soup, slimfast with milk, cream of wheat etc, etc. and just stick with the high protein shake, sugar free popsicles and sonic crushed ice with purified water, today was a great day.. no nausea or vomiting or acid reflux.. Throwing up Bile (Middle of Night)

Im 15 days post op and still in stage 1 hydration. It took me a week of throwing up yellow/green bad tasting vile -bile.That later turned to chocolate colored bile. Now we are at the point to where if my tolerence doesnt subside, then it's obviously stricture which means my surgeon will perform endoscopic dilatation. So, after my worst day yesterday, my nurse told me to avoid all medications, avoid creamy fat free soups, avoid broth and drink a protein shake over the course of 3 hours mixed with water instead of milk. Sip ice water 40 minutes before and one hour after each sippage. Guess what, it worked! no nausea, no throw up. I think my problem was trying to go automatically from Stage 1, to Stage 2, and now Stage 3. My body says , nope, not ready yet ..So as far as throwing up bile, today is the first comfortable day in my post op surgery. My diet for the next 2 weeks will consist of morning, omeprazole and sips of a juice glass with sonic ice and natural apple juice, a protein shake with water, and a couple of sugar free tropical popsicles.. By the way the protein shake I put in the freezer for and hour and it really helps with the taste kinda like a milkshake....KINDA!! You may just need to stay in the hydration stage for a couple of weeks. We forget sometimes this process is going to take up to 24 months. Good Luck to you.
