Thank you everyone! I think I’m worried and being harder on myself because I’m really NOT close to a normal BMI. I'm 5’4” lowest was 175 Maintenance was 185 so I had that 10 pound settling and was happy there. I was still able to enjoy my life and not obsess over my weight and food. currently I’m sitting between 204-208 and I’m not comfortable here. 😫 I’m very anxious to meet with my docs so I can see what they think I should do. I know you all feel my frustration! Thank you for responding and reassuring me! It goes further than you know.

Hey everyone! I’m coming to ask out of desperation. I’m almost 3 years post op gastric sleeve (in July). I had my second child (the only post op child I have— my first was preop) in November 2020. Previous to pregnancy I had been maintaining a comfortable weight for myself and was so happy with where I was. I did great throughout the pregnancy and had only gained 25 pounds and then on week 37 my weight shot up SO fast.. to 44 pounds gained! Turns out I had to deliver immediately due to blood pressure (which I had never had an issue with in my entire life). fast forward to two weeks postpartum I had lost 22 pounds. Great.. so 22 pounds to get back to my comfort weight. Easy peasy! NOT. I’m now 6 months postpartum and STILL have 22 pounds to lose. I have been tracking my intake meticulously. I even bought a new food scale thinking maybe my old one was wrong. I measure in grams mostly. I am eating 1200-1400 calories a day (I’m not breast feeding). I’m making sure to get at least 10k steps a day. And I am losing the same 5 pounds over and over again! I’ve tried basically eliminating carbs and intermittent fasting. I’ve tried adding more calories. I’ve tried eating less than 1200. And this dang weight is NOT budging. I don’t even know what else to do. It’s laughable at this point. If being meticulous and tracking every gram of food isn’t working— wtf is wrong with me?! I do have a 3 year follow up with my bariatric team in July.. but I’d like to be closer to my maintenance weight by then so they don’t freak out on me 🙄. has anyone experienced anything like this? I should note: I DO have an autoimmune thyroid disease— but according to bloodwork, it’s in my normal range. HALP!

Thanks for responding!! I added that podcast to my list! Thank you!! I also ordered a complete hormonal blood and saliva panel. I somehow came upon a few things about estrogen dominance and I have almost all of the symptoms 🙄. Hopefully I get this all figured out soon because I feel like complete crud!

Hey all! I’m 15 months post op vsg. Starting weight was 248 (5’4” 29 yr old female) and current weight is 175. I’m still working SO HARD to get to goal (155) but I’m SO STUCK. I religiously track and weigh my food. Literally have tracked it for 552 days in a row. I drink at LEAST 64 oz of water every day. Exercise 3-5 days a week for at least 30 mins. WHY have I been teetering up and down the same 5 pounds for months?! I realize my “honeymoon” phase is over.. but I’m determined to hit goal. What can I do?! 20 pounds seems SO easy but my body is NOT cooperating. I do suffer from Hashimoto’s thyroiditis— but my numbers are all “in range”. I’m not giving up.. but dear lord! Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! — Mollie

Thank you everyone!! I have looked into fasting several times and thought I’d like to try it! You’ve convinced me to give it a go! Hope it’s the thing my body needs to kick the last 20 pounds!!!

Hey all! I’ve been worrying a little bit lately.. and thought I’d come on here to ask/talk about my worries and all the good stuff 😬😂 next week I’ll be 6 months post op from vsg (July 9, 2018). My highest weight was 248. Pre op weight was 235. Current weight is 194. I’m 5’3” with a medium build. So, I’m down 54lbs total and 41lbs since surgery. The past two months I have only lost 3lbs per month. Now, I know that’s better than zero.. but I can’t help but be upset that I am only losing 3 pounds a month. My surgeon/team has my caloric range at 800-1200/ day and I’m averaging 1200. My protein goal is 60-80 and I’d say I average 80-100. I do consume carbs but generally 100g or less per day. I get around 50 ounces of non caloric fluid (water and Powerade zero) a day. I’ve just started a solid workout routine. So, hopefully that helps. But I do find it hard to stay within my 1200 range when I exercise. I’m HUNGRY. Will the weightloss pick up again? Is anyone else hungry ALL THE TIME?! I didn’t expect my “honeymoon” phase to only last 4 months. I’m very grateful for the weight that I have lost. I feel so much better already. But I still have 60 pounds to lose and I’m terrified that I won’t make it! I have my 6 month post op appointment next week and will definitely talk about all of the things I’ve mentioned here but, I wouldn’t be a true millennial if I didn’t ask internet strangers for help, too! 😂😂😂

Thank you fluffychix! I *try* to keep my calories closer to the 800 range but FAIL. I don’t know why I’m so hungry but I’ll definitely mention this at my appointment next week! I’ve debated going Keto on and off for a while now and I’m also going to mention that next week at my appointment before diving in. I tried Keto years ago and found it wasn’t maintainable in the long term for me. But.. I’m willing to give it another go. I’m just afraid to gain if I decide Keto still isn’t for me. 😒🙄🤷🏼♀️😬😂 I don’t consume liquid calories (minus protein shakes here and there) but I do drink Powerade zero and Gatorade zero along with my water. I didn’t know there was a 6 month stall!! 😭 lol gracious! I’ve stalled on and off so much already! This process is definitely a mental game! My first stall (3 week stall) lasted about 45 days and my second stall lasted about 35 days 😳. Thanks for your response and input!!

I had vsg 4 days ago. I’m glad it’s done and over with.. but now I’m having such bad nausea that I can barely function. I *almost* vomited just now (how is that possible when there’s nothing to vomit)?! my surgeon gave me zofran and it helps a bit.. but holy ****. This is NO joke. It feels like my stomach is contracting. Is that the gas I’m feeling? I’ve read there’s a short period of “regret” or “what did I do to myself”.. and I’m definitely there right now. I’m generally a super upbeat and positive person. But this has got me waaaaaay down. I guess I’m just needing some reassurance that this is going to pass and I can actually handle it. I’m so miserable!

Thank you all for answering! Having support helps SOOO much! I have small snippets of feeling okay and it gives me hope 😂 I can’t wait to get through this!

I was finally sleeved yesterday. My incisions don’t hurt much.. it’s the gas stuck and not releasing that is causing me MAJOR pain. How long until it’s able to pass? I’m so uncomfortable. They’ve given me gas drops— didn’t help. I’ve walked 10 laps around my hospital floor— no help! It won’t pass out of either end! Ahhhhhh help!

I’ve been debating having vsg done for about 2.5 years.. and I finally started my 6 month insurance requirement in January. I’ve been approved by my insurance and it’s scheduled for July 9!! I’m SOOO excited and ready to have my health back! BUT I’m terrified that it’s going to be postponed for low vitamin D! Mine is always low.. and last time it was checked in March, it was 19. Has anyone had their surgery postponed for that? I’ve been taking vitamin D religiously but it’s always been difficult to raise my vit D level. 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

I’m starting my 6 month doctor supervised phase in January. I go to my surgeon/team January 5th and I’m so excitedly anxious! BUT.. I can’t help but feel like.. what if this doesn’t work?! I know I’m not the only one who has ever thought this. I’m 5’4”, 241lbs, 28 years old. I have about 100-110lbs to lose. Of course, I’ve tried *everything*. Which is why I get these thoughts of “this won’t work either” in my head. How do I get past those thoughts and get through this 6 months without driving myself insane?! I’m so ready for this change. I’ve thought about it for 2 years and finally have 100% of my hubbys support. I guess I’m just afraid of ruining it somehow. Sorry for the rambling!!

This is the exact reason I want this so bad!! I NEED this reset. Thanks so much for everyone’s encouragement!

Anyone in WV go through (or currently going through) the process of getting vsg (or wls in general) with BCBS? I officially start my 6 month phase on Jan 5 (first appointment with my surgeon/team) and I’m wondering if there are any super big hurdles that BCBS throws in front of you?! Lol!!

Lol!! You mean you’re on day two.. or you only had to do it for two days? I see some have to do it for two weeks 😬😬😬 I’m not sure what my surgeon requires yet. But I’ll gladly do it if it means ending this obesity battle (that sounded like some sort of cheesy infomercial 😂) -
