Hi Semi, I've also thicken some of my soups with mashed potatoes; haven't had any problems so far. I use my blender every day..puree soup or make a protein shake. I made a smoothie with low carb ice cream, skim milk, splenda, scoop of protein and 1/2 c frozen berries. First time I tried it and it's good. I'll have to do it again; I can't taste the prortein .Still hard for me to get in the 64 oz of water. good luck on your mushies. laura

Hi Semi I'm eating 1 scrambled egg with 2 oz of melted chesse and it equals 19 grams of protein. Yesterday, I bought some corn chowder soup (already made) and pureed it. It was soooooooo good, the best I've eaten since before banding. I was banded on the 8th. I do get my medications stuck even though they are cut in 1/2 and 1/4. The gas pains have increase so I'm now taking gas-x, other than that I'm doing great and am ready to go to the movies to celebrate Mother's Day. take care Laura

Hi, Kim Physically I'm good. My problem is I'm always full. It's difficult to get 64 oz of water in all day. Sometimes my medications get stuck even if some are in 1/2 and others are 1/4 cuts. So far today I've had 1 scrambled egg with 2oz cheese melted = 19 grams of protein, 1 protein shake=20 grams protein and 32 oz of tea. I'm sooooooooo full. took my calicum, vitamins and blood pressure pill....can't seem to take the others 6 that are all cut in halves. One got stuck and I took hot water and jell-o and they finally disolved after 4 hours.

Hi, I'm sixty and was banded this last Monday and am doing great. I do have shoulder pain, but not enough to take anything for it. When I returned home I took liquid Vicodin the first night and then liquid Tylenol that next two nights and that was it for pain medication. I'm able to sleep on either side, but haven't had enough courage to sleep on my stomach yet. Question: The day after my surgery my Gout flared up. Did anyone else have this problem? My doctor says that she gets 2-3 patients a year with the flair up after surgery.

I'm the same as you. My surgery was on the 8th. My meds are hard to get down. I'll cut some in 1/2 and some in 1/4. and they still get stuck, last night one was stuck for 4 hours. I drank hot water, ate jell-o and nothing happened. It finally dissolved itself. I hate the natural protein that I purchased at GNC; it tastes terrible with anything I put it in. So yesterday (bad bad) I only had about 4 grams of protein avoiding the scoups. This morning I made one scrambled egg with 2 oz of cheese melted on top and was able to swallow my pills. It totaled 19 grs. of protein. Later today I'll have my protein shake, already flavored and I think I'll add 1/2 of a banana. Yesterday I ate 1/2 cup broth and added some mashed potatoes to it and it filled me up. The potatoes just made it a little thicker, but still liquid.

I've also watched the show since the first episode in Chicago with Rhonda and Ranna. I'm also glad that Deborah did NOT return; she is totally nuts! The other nut was the one that didn't know how to drive (forgot her name) and her goal was to learn how. I LOVE Iyanla; I remember when she was a guest on the Oprah Show many times. She is so positive and on the mark every time. Who were/are your favorite women? Mine are Rain (Chicago) and Jessica (?) the one whose mother died and she was sent to a boarding school (LA). It looks like the season is coming to an end :Banane13: I wonder if they'll let Antonia return? She's such a brat, especially today during dinner with Jody and her mom.

Hi Jess, surgery was on Monday and I think I'm doing pretty good. Still a little confused about the food portions and when to eat them. I don't want to take the liquid Vicodin, so I'm taking the liquid Tylenol and it seems to be working. The only part that hurts is where the port was put in. The day after surgery (yesterday) my gout flaired up and I had to stay longer in the hospital so that I could receive the meds to clear it up. All in all I think the last three days have been a success. The staff at Peninsula Hospital were excellent.

Kathy you are such an inspiration to us all. I just hope that I can get into the routine of excercising that often. We have rain again here in San Francisco...and I'm so SICK of it. We had 28 days of rain in March. YUCK!

This group has been a support to me more thatn the others that I have found. The date is coming closer and now I'm worried about only eating three meals a day...I'm such a snacker! I forgot can we eat oranges? I'm soooooo addicted to them right now. Just bought a case from Costco!

My surgery is also May 8th. You sure brought it to reality by counting the days and saying we only have 15 days to go....my pre-op is April 26.

Hi, I'm new to the site and live in CA. My band date is May 8th. I'm getting anxious and nervous. I have a question....I hope someone can help me. When you are on clear liquids are you able to take the medication that you're on (I take 5). Also, what kind of protein do you take and what does it taste like...what kind....where to purchase it? I haven't had my p0re-op yet, but do you need to take clear liquids before the surgery or is every surgeon different. My surgeon is Dr. Foster in Burlingame CA. Thanks

Lynn, this is my first post and I just read your journal. It was so informative and I thank you for taking the time to write it. The pictures were also helpful to see how the body changes. How often are you on the teadmill? Is that the only excerise that you do? How long are you exercising? So many questions.... I'm from the Bay Area in No. CA and my surgery date is May 8. A group of friends want to go to dinner for Cinco de Mayo on the 7th. Are there restrictions the night before surgery?

My doctor is Dr. Pamela Foster and she does the surgery at Peninsula Hosp in Burlingame.

Friday. The Lapband is my choice and also my doctor's, because I am 60 yrs. young and less invasive. I am diabetic and have not been following the proper diet. The Doc told me to get on the diabetic diet and loose weight before the next appointment, which is the first week in March. I started yesterday after my consultation. I'm soooooooo excited to have this done. I've been doing soooo good with my food intake, except last night when I went to a crab chippino fest. ...oh so bad. My Doc wants all of the patients to have a psych and nutrition evaluation before the procedure. Is this the procedure for all of the other physicans? I live in the San Francisco Area. Anyone else in my area so that we can hook up? thanks in advance for the support. p.s. how do I get the tickler onto my posts? :clap2: __________________ Laura :puke:
