So glad all went well BB are you drinking straight water? that was so heavy for me...I do much better with very diluted crystal light and getting that down...keep walking every hour or so walk around your house several times and the gas should get better soon! -

did anyone else have a LOT of bruising around the incisions? I also had a lot on the sides of my legs - maybe where they strapped me in for surgery or something... also I saw people write about their staples - I don't think I have external ones - just some sort of tape...am I the only one? -

you are too funny I've had a bit of hunger here or there the last day or two but nothing crazy...today I got seriously hungry (i was sleeved on Thursday)...not sure if it's the 3 thyroid pills I'm still taking that is revving me up or what...I'm not allowed jellor or pudding yet -- just spoke to nutritionist and she upped my protein shake from 2oz per meal to 2.5..hoping that does it. that is a good idea about taking down your measurements - I didn't do that. I'm down 12lbs since surgery but should take my measurements too. -

good luck Mike - I'm sure you'll do fine mine was supposed to be at 11:30am and it wound up pushed to 1pm but I wasn't hungry just excited- hope the same for you -
hi all - great reading about my fellow December sleevers doing well so far after surgery or getting ready for surgery. I had my surgery last Thursday on the 7th and went home from the hospital on the 8th...all went pretty well. I will say it looks like I have had a LOT more bruising than others but otherwise everything seems pretty routine. Did a lot of walking and made sure I moved around in the hospital and since I've been home...got through that water nausea period and the nausea is mostly gone and the pain/soreness gets better each day. Today is the first day though that I'm very low energy as if this 6 oz of protein shake is not enough sustenance as I also feel very hungry..nutritionist just said I could up another .5 oz at each meal - hope that helps. I'm down 12 lbs so far since surgery. Good luck to all ready to go in!

I’m now just over 1.5 hours away so you are close too! Checked in at the hospital and just waiting to be called!, nervously excited - not hungry but have an unsettled stomach - hopefully just nerves!! Anyone who wants to send good thoughts or a prayer I will take it!!
-
this is true! we will indeed! I'd better get moving...my surgery is 11:30 am tomorrow -- nervous but excited!! fingers crossed all will go well..good luck on Tuesday!!

I like your confidence! that may be the reasoning they are using...that's great that you've lost -good for you I only took 5 off but I'm not being too hard on myself -- it was a tough 6 months -- my aunt passed suddenly, we put our house up for sale last minute (long story), sold within a couple days, had to pack, move, find a rental until we could find a new home, unpack, house hunt for a new home, hubby started a new job so he wasn't cooking as much, my job is going through a complete reorg for my dept, had a severe sinus infection that had me on 5 weeks of antibiotics and steroids which made me gain some back that I lost...and we now found a new house but it is being built and won't be ready until the summer......it's been a bit of a whirlwind so I'm just going with the flow...I'm committed to breaking a sweat and exercising every day to lose as close to the 100% of EW as possible. this time is for me and I'm lucky to have a super supportive hubby who is going to work out with me daily...and I know when we pack and unpack this summer, it will be a lot easier for me as there should be a lot less of me

To anyone getting sleeved on or around December 5th

Ditto - come back and tell us how you made out - hopefully the worst is over now -
It really does depend on your surgeon and your history. Even though I do have a history of gerd and have had endoscopies and Upper GI's in the past, he did not order it for me and it wasn't a requirement.
-
same with me. I was panicked a bit when I found this place and everyone was talking about the liquid diet beforehand...I hope this doesn't mean a tougher recovery for us but optimistic that's not the case.
-
great to hear that sunbunny!! congrats!
-
yes, that would be good but don't think much sleep will be happening. especially since my surgeon is having me take my two of my three thyroid pills tonight before bed instead of the morning and that won't help the sleeping situation either...and we moved during this process so the hospital is over an hour away in traffic which I didn't think about the bumps and such... btw - 2 friends said to take a pillow on the way home to help brace the bumps on the way home. good luck tomorrow!!
-
sounds like a smart plan! home after a crazy work day and packed my bag....good luck and see you on the other side!!

Diet weight loss

yikes that's a lot of pressure my surgeon does not require that...I would be freaking out ugh. -
oh wow - yes we are!! I give you all the credit in the world to be on liquids this long pre-surgery. My surgeon seems a bit on the easy side - hopefully I'm still thinking he was easier on the other side lol! I hope we don't get postponed either!! I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow but I'm jammed with meetings all day...so I guess it's good I'm not doing some sort of elimination thing lol...are you working tomorrow?

Hi - what a great idea for a thread MSG - thanks for starting this! I need buddies! I see a few that share my date of 12/7. I have no pre-op diet but just have to do light meals tomorrow which I'm going to just do shakes..and then not eat or drink after midnight..arrive at 9:30 for 11:30 surgery. the two others I work with who have been sleeved took three to four weeks off...but I am hoping to just take just over a week and then work from home for the next few weeks...we're down some people with the holidays and I can do most of my job from home anyway as I work one day a week at home regularly. Good luck to everyone - I'm nervous and excited but more excited. -
good luck RubyFFL! Love your avatar pic by the way - very pretty
-
oh that doesn't sound like fun but hopefully the swelling will go down soon!
-
me too!!! I wish mine was at 7am - you're lucky! I have to be in for 9:30 for surgery at 11:30...could be worse - someone I worked with had to wait until 4pm -- yikes! are you doing a cleanse tomorrow or anything? I'm just doing light meals tomorrow - mostly protein shakes...and then nothing after midnight..have to get through a stressful day of meetings first tomorrow though...
-
hi there - I'm the 7th too - guess that makes us sleeve buddies.
-
Congrats YM -- what an inspirational post you deserve this and everything good that comes your way ... I do have a question about the nail polish - I didn't know you couldn't wear any? I have such flimsy bendable nails because of major thyroid issues so I have a thickener type stuff on them ..I guess that needs to come off?

Any Jersey sleevers??

No pre-op liquid diet or elimination day prior?
Jeannie49 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi - I'm still new here but I'm reading so much about others starting their pre-op liquid diets. My surgeon told me he doesn't do that -- just be careful the few days before and don't go crazy or it will make you feel worse afterwards which I've been following (my surgery is next Thursday, 12/7). I've also met others that have not had the pre-op liquid diet in person so that makes me feel better...but I haven't met anyone who isn't doing some sort of elimination drink the day or night before surgery? Anyone else out there who is not doing a pre-op liquid phase? Or an "elimination" drink the day before? Just wondering how uncommon this is..thanks in advance for sharing.
