Slow weight loss / gym
Sqkysphnctr replied to SGirl35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You lose muscle at approximately the same rate you lose fat. Lifting 3x a week will not "bulk" you up and reverse your weight loss. Especially if you are not a lifter- all those giant weight lifters eat 6000 calorie diets and do nothing but lift heavy heavy weights for long periods every day. Lifting in your/our circumstances only helps limit the amount of existing muscle mass you lose. On this extreme low calorie diet even lifting won't keep you from losing muscle mass, but it can protect what you have and keep you from getting that "skinny fat bobble head" look. Plus it's fun, and you get to play on the big boy side of the gym. Full disclosure: I love lifting. If I could only lift and never worry about cardio stuff I would. I'm two and a half weeks out, and I feel you on the exhaustion from even basic walking. I set aside 30 minutes a day to walk, no excuses. Some days I'm wheezing at 30 minutes, but today I walked for an hour and it was tough but I felt amazing. It's about making the habit as much as being active. (And 2.5 miles in 30 minutes is 5 mph... That's really, really fast walking. Don't "sweat" being tired. Couldn't resist the pun!) Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app -
Constipation Question-TMI
Sqkysphnctr replied to Tanyatata's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon (and from what I can tell most others) recommend one dose of miralax a day until it works. I had the same issue because I thought they meant one dose period. I'm two weeks out and I still take one dose every other day. My surgeon says this is the new normal for awhile. If you take any narcotics (anything other than Tylenol) that will contribute to the constipation. I'm not a doctor, this only reflects my experience. When on doubt call your surgeon's office. Good luck! Constipation is no joke, and the stomach pain from getting really backed up plus the surgery soreness is pretty miserable. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app -
Started period
Sqkysphnctr replied to HealthierLifestyle2018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine start about a week later, and it's one of the worst periods I've ever had. *TMI alert* heavy beyond belief, I'm dizzy, and the stomach/bowel cramps that come along with my period is ridiculous. Supposedly that's normal with all the hormones being released in the burning off fat but it was scary the first day. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app -
I weigh myself everyday, and everyday I say, "I have to stop being so obsessive" lol. But it's so fun to see the numbers drop! I would say weigh yourself unless and until it discourages you. Also take measurements of your biceps, thighs, waist, hips, etc., those will change too even if you hit a "stall" on the scale. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

Is anyone else on Baritastic? I like it so much better than MyFitnessPal. It has options to invite people into Accountability Groups, and if anyone on here would like to link up let me know!

Post Surgery Tastebuds Changes: tell me yours
Sqkysphnctr replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sensitive nose thing for sure, one week post-op and the seafood department at Kroger nearly knocked me flat. I'm at 2 weeks out now, and I still can't stomach the premier shakes, I have to use the "clear" protein drinks. Crystal light is way too sweet, and I don't even want to think about SF jello or popsicles. I have a lot of "head hunger" cravings, but who knows what those foods would even taste like to me now. My favorite yogurt tasted weird and bitter, but now I LOVE a flavor I used to be ambivalent about. So weird. -
