    Raw veggies / smoothies

Your profile shows your surgery was in November. I was sleeved in December and have absolutely no food restrictions per my doc and nutrtionist. I've been eating raw veggies for weeks. I think you'll be fine:) I'm weirdly curious about this...does anyone else have veggie restrictions 3-4 months out? It's bizarre how different the different programs are.

    When was your surgery, Tealael?

    six weeks postop

I eat 6 little 200 calorie meals each day. My group counts calories and wants us at 1000-1200 calories each day, recorded in a food journal. if you don't have a gym...try a Fitbit or other Fitness tracker. Walking is awesome, and you can do it anywhere:)

    Back pain

Give you doctor's office a call. Can't hurt to let them know you're experiencing this and get their advice. Particularly if it's affecting your ability to eat.

Where are these trolls coming from?

Ya know, Barbie, I could continue to illustrate what I think the problem is here......but I think you're doing a great job without my help. So...i'm just gonna go do something different:)

Where are these trolls coming from?

On the subject of insecurity...here's what Psychology Today says:) The insecure person tries to make you feel insecure yourself. When you start to question your own self-worth, is it typically around a specific person or type of person? Is that individual always broadcasting his or her strengths? If you don’t feel insecure in general, but only around certain people, it’s likely they’re projecting their insecurities onto you. The insecure person needs to showcase his or her accomplishments. You don’t necessarily have to feel insecure around someone to conclude that inferiority is at the heart of their behavior. People who are constantly bragging about their great lifestyle, their elite education, or their fantastic children may very well be doing so to convince themselves that they really do have worth. The insecure person drops the “humble brag” far too often. The humble brag is a brag disguised as a self-derogatory statement. You’ve all seen these on Facebook, when an acquaintance complains about all the travel she has to take (due to the importance of her job), or all the time he has to spend watching his kids play (and, by the way, win) hockey games. (The "Facebook gloat" is a bold-faced brag which is easier to spot but may very well have the same roots.) The insecure person frequently complains that things aren’t good enough. People high in inferiority like to show what high standards they have. You may label them as snobs, but as much as you realize they’re putting on an act, it may be hard to shake the feeling that they really are better than you. What they’re trying to do, you may rightly suspect, is to proclaim their high standards as a way of asserting that not only are they better than everyone else, but that they hold themselves to a more rigorous set of self-assessment criteria. Food for thought:) Funny, I didn't notice Apple doing any of these things.

    Coffee-Yes or no?

They brought me decaf the day of surgery in the hospital. My nutritionist says one cup of caffeinated coffee or tea per day is fine, but any more than that should be decaf. I know they're all different. I do know that too much coffee can be correlated with ulcers.

Time Off - vent about my boss

I'd look for a different job....strategically and quietly.
  9. It might not just be the extra IV fluids, Fluff...it might be inflamation in tissues holding fluids for healing. I gained 4 pounds with surgery, too. Took several days, but I had a nice little loss spurt where the water left and took a couple of pound with it.
  10. Some really good points hit upon in this article.

    Change Your Hospital

Kakatlady...you need to get to the bottom of what the therapist said. There is some huge red flag in that report that is causing the doctors to balk, and you need to figure out what it is, and if it's fair. Have you tried calling the therapist and asking for a copy of his/her report? It's your medical record...it belongs to you. You could also ask the therapist to discuss his/her concerns about you having the procedure. Maybe there's a misunderstanding? If the original therapist wrote an abridged evaluation...it would help your case. You could ask the therapist what steps you would need to take to get a recommendation for surgery if he/she sees a problem. Ask what specific, actionable things you would need to do to turn it around. Or, as Apple said... have another appointment with a different psychologist and see if you get a different result. Things they worry about: past addictions, current addictions, impulsive harmful behavior, untreated depression, unstable relationships, little support, the potential for crossover addictions. Call the psych and get a one on one meeting....get to the bottom of why you were not approved...so you can fix it and move forward. So sorry you're dealing with this. Best wishes.
  12. I'll go read it, KaKatLady. I have weird memories of Mansfield Ohio. LOL. My best friend and I did a haunted house tour of the old Mansfield Reformatory (prison).....man, is that a CREEPY place! They filmed Shawshank Redemption there. Later, we went to a Christian wax museum that had an old Tom Cruise dressed as Jesus and John Travolta as Moses. There seemed to be a Scientology undercurrent. LOL:) Was wild!
  13. I still maintain that the liquid diet was the worst part of the whole process for me. Man, I don't envy you guys...that was HARD! Take it a day at a time and keep fighting. You got this:) Almost to the big day!

    Physical Intimacy?

I've been going swimming in a heated therapy pool lately, and the idea of a hot tub is more and more appealing.
  16. it's a chain in the midwest called Meijer Thrify Acres. Oh crap...you're from Michigan. You know about Meijer. LOL
  17. You can definitely have another baby. But you have to wait 18 months before getting pregnant after surgery. There are a few other considerations, too. I remember reading an article.. https://www.babycenter.com/0_seven-facts-about-pregnancy-after-weight-loss-surgery_1504874.bc
  18. I like Premier protein shakes. (I still put caramel flavor shake in my coffee for creamer) I eat Pure Protein storebrand protein bars....they're not bad. 200 calories. 21g protein.

    Two Weeks In....Good News!

Well done! Keep up the good work:) And congrats:)
  20. Lounge pants/sweat pants/PJ bottoms....are essential. Like Boston said...don't worry about the top or robes and stuff...cause you can't get them on over your IV. Bring chapstick! Your lips will thank you. I brought all my toiletries and makeup, hair dyer and stuff. They let me take a shower first thing the next morning...I put on street clothes, did hair and makeup....and convinced my doctor to let me go home:) Phone cord/charger.
  21. Awesome questions and the above posters have done a perfect job answering them...so I can't add much. I'm another person who has never vomited. No nausea, either....ever. Pretty grateful for this:)

Where are these trolls coming from?

A lot of people on this board have tremendous success. Many of them have made stunningly gorgeous transformations. They post a before and after pic, get some heartfelt kudos for their hard work, and try to help others. None of them gloat or ask random people if they've been to the gym today. Just sayin'
