Wow! Well Done! -
Call your surgeon's office today and explain what you're going through. Just getting it documented might make a difference.

Be careful of anyone who has THE ANSWER:)

That's not just you, Fluff....that's all of us:) Ok, maybe not all of us. (I fit your criteria, too.) But like most people here ...I'm well intentioned when I try to impart my "wisdom" on the masses. I guess I was just trying to say....take it all with a gain of salt (except you cause your ankles will swell!)....and look at all the collective experiences. We're beautifully different....and very much the same. -
I do frozen banana ice cream sometimes....you put frozen bananas in the food processor and eat it. LOL If you put some coco and splenda in there, it'll taste like chocolate banana ice cream. Not bad! I'm not a fan of Halo Top....it has a weird powdery texture that kinda bugs me out. Kinda too sweet, too. (for me) Admittedly, I have not tried all the flavors. This is my very favorite frozen treat: https://yasso.com/products/bars/chocolate-fudge/ I LOVE these...they taste so good, calories aren't bad and you get 6g of PROTEIN for 80 calories! Much less guilt! It's also nice that it's 80 calories of naughty that's in a nice little package...so you're not as tempted to overindulge. Gotta be so careful with this stuff cause there's not much room for junk if you're getting your protein in and paying good attention to nutrition. For some folks, it can be a gateway to even naughtier things. (I am in danger of being just such an offender...so I watch this stuff really carefully)

Best wishes for a safe effective outcome! Good luck!

My plan is high carbs, but they're low glycemic carbs with good protein content like whole grains, beans, etc. I pretty much follow the Mayo clinic diet...which is similar to Mediterranean. My group serves a diverse community of people from all over the world, lot of vegans and vegetarians...so we have a lot of options. I think high protein keto diets produce the fastest weight loss and some folks tolerate them really well. (wish I did, but I don't) My group stresses keeping the calories at 1000-1200 per day, 60+g of protein, lots of exercise, lots of water, eat simple. We do a lot of fruit and veggies and whole grains and beans.

Programs are all so different. Kinda...stunningly...different!

Ok, this is demented....but my best friend and I are going to a trampoline park. LOL. We met when we were six and see each other every week. She's more like a sister. That one person you laugh your butt off with no matter what you're doing....that's her. Love her to pieces. Should be a hoot:) Also, hubby and I are doing the water park we did on our honeymoon this summer:) 25th anniversary! We're recapturing our hippy cheapo honeymoon, complete with camping, horse riding, playing in Lake Michigan and going down The Funnel of Fear:) -

Mattymatt...not sure why I can't leave feedback for you...some kinda glitch. But thank you, too. -
Ultimately, the best gauge is how well you're sticking to your program. If you're doing the best you can...the weight will come off when it's ready to. Sometimes it comes off faster, sometimes slower. There are a lot of biological factors that work both for and against us. If you're feeling good, have healthy habits, are building a good forever diet and getting exercise....the weight will come off. Sounds to me like you're doing great. Be patient and consistent:)

Can’t Sleep Because of Hunger
Creekimp13 replied to NYCNomad's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope...just individual differences as far as I can tell. I was on protein shakes and no calorie clears for two weeks before surgery and a week after. And I had no acid. And my doc puts everyone on omeprazole anyway for a few months. Different people report different experiences with hunger. -
Can’t Sleep Because of Hunger
Creekimp13 replied to NYCNomad's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first week out I would have gnawed my own leg off I was so damned hungry. Head was fuzzy and even though I felt pretty good physically, my brain wasn't functioning well (cannot imagine taking a test or having to do something intellectually challenging during this time) Around 3 weeks, when I started adding soft foods back into my diet, I started feeling a LOT more like myself. MUCH less hunger. Brain started working again. Felt spectacular. Try to be patient. You're not alone in experiencing massive hunger. Some people don't...lucky bums....but some do, and it stinks! I will say that I think overall...I don't experience the same hunger I used to. Rather...I don't crave food constantly and reoffend like I used to with too many helpings. But yeah...when you can only eat 3 ounces at a time and you're a very active person....hunger is still gonna be a part of your life (for at least some of us). The really cool part, though...is that at my most starving....I can eat 200 calories and feel very full and satiated for hours. -

I'm told we make the rockin' world go round:) -
It's best to phone the specific hospital and see what their policy is about little visitors. My hospital was surprisingly accommodating of families. They even had a family waiting room on the surgery floor with stuff for kids. But not every hospital is like this. One thing that is wonderful now...is that most places can give the spouse a pager so they can keep the little ones on the move and not bothering anyone. After you're settled in your room, hubby and kiddo can almost certainly visit. They can help get you checked in, too, but access right before surgery might be more limited because of the little one. Call ahead and see what they say.

4 days post op. So many struggles.

Try pourling four little one ounce cups of water each hour and challenge yourself to drink one ounce every 15 minutes. Alternate each hour between clear fluids and protein drink. You can drink an astounding amount this way, but you have to work at it all day. Every hour. -
You could stop by the sewing department of your local craft supply store and see if they have any business cards of local people who do alterations. You could also check Ebay for the same shirts in smaller sizes.

My experience is that the ghrelin thing is largely over-hyped. I still get hungry as hell. Prolly because I can only eat about 3 ounces at a time and i'm extremely active. I think it may help with cravings? Maybe I'm not hungry as often as I used to be...or I have to be really hungry before I notice? But hunger is still a VERY REAL part of my world. Most of my stomach missing be damned. Other's experiences might differ. If you're expecting surgery to eliminate hunger, or if you feel you need hunger eliminated to be successful......you might be very disappointed. That said....there are some people who experience very little hunger after surgery. Wishing you the best.

Let's Play A Game!

Nearly all breeds of dog can have successful pregnancies with wolves, and their offspring will be fertile. This is because dogs are really just deformed, retarded wolves. A 75 pound wolf has a brain case that holds about 150cc's of brain. An equal size 75 pound German Shepard has brain case that holds only about 50cc's of brain. The qualities humans like in dogs...tail wagging, licking, submission, willingness to follow orders.......are puppy like behaviors. We've bred Peter Pan wolves who are "slow" and never grow up. Took us about 30,000 years to turn wolves into the dog breeds we have now. -

If your kid ingests a round worm egg (very common in dirt... and carried by cats, dogs, raccoons, etc)...the larvae can migrate and a worm can grow in your child's eye. -

Did your surgeon/nutritionist give you a plan to follow? I would stick with written instructions for safety's sake. -
Support for someone having surgery
Creekimp13 replied to spedersen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're an awesome mom and I applaud your efforts to be super supportive. Keep in mind, though, that the nature of mothers and daughters...can sometimes require the reminder of a little autonomy. LOL. (My daughter in her 20's often reminds me....Mom I love you, but you have to let me live my life....and she's right!) You can't lose the weight for her. You can't go through the surgery for her. You can't scrutinize her choices or police her habits....or you'll add an insane amount of pressure she doesn't need and probably stress your relationships. Be a little careful of being too involved. But absolutely be her biggest cheerleader. (I know you will be!) Trust her choices. Be sympathetic. And be strong for her. Being too involved can sometimes make our kids feel responsible for us...and our worries and discomfort. It's the last thing they need...to have to deal with our emotional fall out on top of their own needs. From one mom to another....it's gonna be ok. Let her take the lead. Work on nurturing the new adult relationship....and try not to slide back into adult-child caretaker role. Trust that she will let you know what she needs. Be there to do it. Best wishes!
