    Woot! Congrats!

... i am embarrassed to ask

I don't think taking a suppository orally is a good idea.
  3. Sure! I kinda throw things together as I go, so my measurements aren't exact. Kinda eyeball it. Adjust for your own tastes. Chop up about six red potatoes with the skins on into tiny bite sized pieces, boil, set aside to cool (don't make them too mushy...err on the side of firm, they'll cook a little more as they cool Boil about four eggs, peel and chop I finely chop a stalk of celery (use more of the leaves if you have them), half a sweet onion, half a red pepper. Tiny bits...lots of veggies. Now for the dressing, I make my own Mix one egg yolk, about 3/4 cup olive oil, one T lemon juice, a teaspoon of mustard, salt and pepper in a blender....TaDa! Mayo! Now, add some splenda to taste and mix with a big glop of sugar free pickle relish. And a little dill if you have it, and a little splash of cider vinegar. Whatever you like. Some people like savory more than sweet and go with mustard and dill. Word of warning....this is NOT low calorie. It's about 160 calories for 2/3 cup serving. But it's extremely filling. Plus, the veggies are awesome and give you more bang for your caloric buck. Do NOT skip out on the red pepper...it makes it:) Shake a little paprika on top and this is a terrific lunch. I like to pair about a half a cup of it with a slice of lean ham and fresh pineapple. 1/2 cup potato salad about 120 calories 2g protein 3 oz extra lean ham steak 100 calories 15g protein 1/2 cup fresh pineapple 40 calories Total 260 caloris 17g protein Put away a couple little premeasured servings for later in the week before you tell your family. My family are like locusts with this stuff...they swoop in and devour it.

    Staples or stitches

Not at all. They're very common. My C-section incision was zipped up with staples 20 years ago. My dogs and cats neuter/spay incisions were zipped up with staples. I'm sure it varies, but on my skin, staples have left less of a scar than stitches.
  5. (says the woman slathering her neck with collagen cream, BioOil and Caster Oil with lemon..and hoping for the same sad unlikely miracle) LOL! I feel your pain. But nope...I don't there there's a magic answer. Unfortunately.
  6. My personal opinion...hype and BS. Essentially, you're eating rubber chicken sternum cartilage and hoping for a miracle. If you try it, be sure to post a before and after pic. Will gladly root for such a product if there is any hard evidence it gives results beyond making its marketers money.

    Staples or stitches

Meant to say staples and sutures.

    10 out

Might just be a little phrenic nerve pain. BUT...Hate to say this, but persistent shoulder pain could indicate a problem. The shoulder is a common site for referred pain from your stomach itself, or from a hiatal hernia fix, or from a marginal ulcer. Severe shoulder pain this far out is unusual and concerning. It should be getting a little better each day at this point. And yeah...10 days out...you shouldn't need pain meds. Don't mean to alarm you, but I do think you should take this seriously and watch yourself carefully. Keep track of your temperature and heart rate. If either starts going up significantly, if you start to have other symptoms like nausea, the ER and a call in to your doctor's answering service might be prudent. Are you able to drink well? Are you eating anything other than protein shakes...and if so, how is that going?

    Staples or stitches

Neither. Just steri strips..which I loved, cause I tend to have tissue reactions to both stitches and sutures. I'm sure I had subcutaneous stitches, But the outside skin just had steri strips. Worked great.

    Cloud Bread

You can make cloud bread with Greek Yogurt instead:) https://www.beachbodyondemand.com/blog/cloud-bread-recipe
  11. I eat a metric fuque ton of carbs. Love them. They're a huge part of the Mayo Clinic Diet...which has served me very well. That said...there are two kinds of carbs. High glycemic simple carbs....processed white flour and sugar...I'm extremely careful with. Sugars, in general...I'm careful with. In addition to being bad to give you insulin spikes and rebound hunger....the kinds of foods they're in...cakes, cookies, baked goods, fried sweets, snack foods, processed foods....are typically full of tans fats..partially hydrogenated oils that raise your bad cholesterol, lower your good cholesterol and clog your blood pipes. Heart disease is the #1 killer for both men and women....so I'd really like to avoid this. Low glycemic carbs are a huge part of my daily diet. Whole grains, oats, brown rice, beans, lentils, chickpeas. Whole raw fruits. Low fat dairy. In addition to having a nice slow glycemic burn that doesn't spike your insulin like processed carbs.....low glycemic carbs are typically rich in fiber and/or PROTEIN:) Both are awesome for weight loss! Fiber is great for poo...and it's what the best gut microbiota eat. Getting some of your protein from plant sources helps to reduce your exposure to the nasty fats that come with animal protein. So, to me, it's win-win. The diets of the healthiest people on Earth who have the most longevity, least cancer and heart disease.....Mediterranean Diet and Japanese Diet are low in simple sugar and high in low glycemic carbs, vegetables, whole grains, fruit, nuts, seeds and fish. High in plant protein, low in animal protein. So to answer your question more specifically.... Carbs are carbs...but some are better for a healthy diet than others. Some I eat regularly, and some I eat very seldom in very small amounts. Fries...I make my own out of potatoes in the oven with olive oil and rosemary, and leave the skins on:) pizza....I make my own with thin whole wheat crust, tons of veggies, fresh mozzarella, and very little meat. ice cream....nope, but I LOVE Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars Cookies, etc......almost never. Would be a special occasion food and would limit it to 75 calories worth. Couple bites of hubby's dessert on special occasion, microscopic piece of birthday cake, etc. bread? No white bread, but I do eat sourdough, pumpernickel, and the gross, "healthy" kind with all the seeds and grains...I LOVE it:) Toast it up and put some avocado on there with red pepper flakes, sunflower seeds and lowfat swiss. Yum! Pasta?......No white pasta, but I do LOVE lentil/chickpea pasta, I prefer it. Potatoes? Yep. White and Sweet. Love me some potatoes! Love my diet potato salad, too. Beans? Yes. All of them. As often as possible. Fiber-licious! oatmeal, rice, quinoa, corn... all whole grains, so which ones do you avoid?,,,,, I eat sugar free oatmeal regularly, brown rice in moderation regularly, not into quinoa, corn I eat in once in a while in moderation as an ingredient. And I like popcorn sometimes, air popped. I'm a big fan of Chia seed pudding. I like flax. And all the nuts:) Love me some lentils in my veggie soup.

    Tattoo

I only have one tattoo...a tiny wolf on the back of my thigh howling up at "the full moon" I'm not an ink person, but I let my daughter's bestie do it, she's an intern tattoo artist and needed work for her portfolio:) She did a beautiful job.

    Gatorade g2 ok?

The problem with drinking sugar, in particular high fructose corn syrup...is that it will cause an insulin spike that will set off hunger....big nasty cycle. Also, those empty calories don't have a lot of nutrition at a time when we're at risk for nutritional deficiency. I love sugary drinks, but they can't be a part of my diet anymore. Refined high glycemic carbs murder me on the scale. Love them...they hate me. LOL:) Once in a while I'll have about 75 calories worth of sweet refined naughty goodness on a special occasion...but it's not a daily thing. Congrats on being down 33 pounds since your preop diet..that's terrific!

    Gatorade g2 ok?

Zero Calorie Stuff I like to drink: Water Mio Berry Grape, Orange, Black Cherry (I like the original sucralose flavors...the stevia flavors tastes ghastly to me...avoid the flavors enhanced with caffeine) Sugar Free Hot Cider Lemon Ginger tea with Splenda Decaf coffee with Caramel Premier Protein (ok, this has calories...but the good kind) Roasted Dandelion root tea Toasted Rice tea Citrus Lavender Sage tea Sugar free Kool Aid pink lemonade mixed with Iced Tea I also like to drink water that has had fruit pieces soaking in it like lemon water, raspberry water.....and even cucumber water tastes refreshing and good.

    Gatorade g2 ok?

G2 is better than real Gatorade....but it still has 45 calories per bottle that come from high fructose corn syrup per 20 ounces.....not a great choice. Have you tried the Mio flavors? They're worth a try, lots to choose from:) Best wishes.
  16. There's always McD's french fries, homemade bread and butter, and chocolate sundaes. LOL Kidding:) Tealael's advice is spot on....take your food journal and go see your doc and nutritionist. You might just need to up your calories, but something else might be going on, too. Best to get some help investigating what's going on and get some safe solid answers. Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

    Your Hospital Experience

I took the Emend, too. Best hundred bucks out of pocket I ever spent. Zero nausea!
  18. Yikes. Any chance you have a dental issue or blood coming from a tonsil abscess or anything higher than your esophagus? Are you prone to nose bleeds? Have you been suffering sinus pressure, etc? I would show these photos to your doctor and ask for a referral to a specialist. Maybe an ENT? Sorry you're having this problem. Please let us know what you find out. Don't let it go. Keep making noise. Show the photos to your doc.
  19. This is my impression, too. The location of the spleen scares the hell out of me, too. That said....if the surgeon has a TON of experience doing surgery this way, they can get very good at it and do it very safely. I'm encouraged to see the OP's doc discloses that there might be additional ports/incisions if there are complications...I think that's a very important disclosure and also a prudent thing to do if the angle isn't working.
  20. Ya'll go to some crappy arsed doctors. My doc is super attentive to everything. Sometimes, too attentive. LOL. Super thorough, and so is his PA who does my paps. He's been riding my butt for years to do weight loss surgery. I'm glad I finally followed through! That said, I have had a mediocre doc in the past...so I get it. Picking an excellent fit doctor is important. If you don't have one, keep looking. As with any important relationship....you need good communication. Sometimes finding that person takes a couple of tries. Patient....be your own advocate. Also, whenever possible, take someone with you to the doctor so you can compare notes on what was said. Sometimes an extra set of ears helps when you're being poked and prodded. Also....if you have questions for your doc, bring a written list with you...and write down the answers he gives in front of him. I'm not sure why this works so well....but doctors will often grab your list and write down the answers themselves. My doc will take my list, talk about each item and ask if I understand his answers about each item... and check it with a check mark or make notes for me. I love this system. It's efficient, so I don't waste his time....but I also get solid answers to everything I'm concerned about.
  21. https://www.healio.com/endocrinology/obesity/news/in-the-journals/{ecda2615-d590-491c-992f-620681be37ff}/stampede-sustained-glycemic-benefit-observed-5-years-after-gastric-bypass-in-type-2-diabetes-obesity Some really encouraging data!
  22. This. Ask your surgeon how many single incisions he's done and what the complication rate was compared to multiple incision surgeries. He should be able to show you the data. Also ask the length of the single incision compared to the length of each of the multiples. Before making a decision, watch this surgery being done on Youtube.

I’m not sure what surgery to do?

Overall weight loss is statistically a little better with Bypass. (that said...both procedures can effectively help bring people to goal weight and both can fail) Overall complication rates are higher with bypass, though. More leaks, more malabsorption issues. Both surgeries carry some risk, but in the grand spectrum of things, both are pretty safe surgeries these days. The safety of a surgery is dependent, also, on the surgeon's experience. You want a surgeon who does a LOT of your procedure and feels very comfortable doing it. That expertise...is crucial to safety and a good outcome. I chose sleeve because my surgery was quick, it's my surgeon's favorite, and I don't want to have dumping issues. I was on the table less than an hour, and was up walking laps around the ward within just a few hours after surgery. If you currently have problems with GERD, you might want to lean toward bypass. Before surgery, my endoscopy revealed chronic gastritis and this concerned me a little (but we figured it was due to multiple daily doses of ibuprofen and a couple of my other meds)...but I went ahead with the sleeve because I don't want to dump. I have not had any problems with acid reflux. I'm off my omeprazole (antacid PPI that you take for a while after surgery) and i've still not hand any problems with acid. (thank goodness!) If you're a vegetarian (I'm not, but I lean that way quite a bit) you might want to consider the sleeve. A big part of my diet is complex carbs, fruit, and lower glycemic index whole grains....I wanted to be able to continue to eat a healthy vegetarian-leaning diet without concerns about dumping. I'm a fruit-bat. I don't eat a lot of refined sugar, but I do eat a lot of fructose in whole fruits. Talk about the pros and cons with your doctor. Either way you go....you have good odds.
