    Kids and food

This is an education I never expected to get with this thread. LOL. Interesting, though. How weird!

what are your new coping methods?

BBB...bubble bath and book. This helps. It's like a food hug...but no calories. Calling my best friend helps. She makes me laugh...and laughing is good. We laugh to survive:) Walks with hubby, or daughter, or my puppy help.....plus, hey, I got another walk in...bonus! Any OTHER comfort habit...helps. Curl up on the couch with your favorite down throw and pillow and watch something that makes you smile. Extort a foot rub, or backrub outta the hubby. Do some kinda flow activity that makes the noise of the day turn off for a while. I like to paint and write and build things. I like hangin out in my garden. Sometimes floating around in the pool helps. Also....pick some *legal* comfort foods for emergency use. Something that feels like a comfort food that isn't that bad for you. That way...if you cave....there's damage control. I use watermelon and frozen greek yogurt bars.

    Hubby loosing interest?

I need to whack my husband with a 2x4 to get him to leave me alone. He's all about the thinner me. But yeah, I know these issues do come up for people. Something you might not be considering...is that it might not be physical. As we lose weight and hit our goals, it can make us feel more confident, more outspoke, more assertive and in control of our lives...more interested in pursuing ideas and dreams our partners weren't completely aware of. You're changing, and not just physically. That might scare the hell out of him. Go to therapy. There's a reason they call it divorce surgery.
  4. Ape lifespan..... 35-50 years. Often die of cancers related to old age. Lion lifespan.... 10-14 years. Often die of end stage kidney disease. Carnivorous mammals don't live very long. Atkins post mortem exam showed he'd had heart attacks and coronary artery disease. he was also either obese, or retaining 20+ pounds of water when he died...(the later would indicate kidney failure.)
  5. True. But we should also pay attention to history. If we've tried something in the past, and had great success that wasn't sustainable....maybe we need to rethink it? I'm not a stranger to keto, btw....I lost 50 pounds on it once upon a time in three months... and regained it just as fast. Keto made me feel wretched...I had actual dreams about food while on it, which was very weird...and my cravings for junk were incredibly intense and unpleasant. When I fell off the wagon, I kinda lost my mind...went nuts and made up for lost time. It wasn't pretty. You are dead right....to each their own. And I know some folks do have luck with high protein carb restrictive diets. But for me? Carb restrictive diets were a recipe for me to fall off a cliff. Also, my BUN went up (my kidney function suffered because they had to work so much harder dealing with all that protein) Not saying I haven't fallen off the wagon with my current diet....but when I do...the sensation is way different. I go a little off course, feel stupid, and don't have any problems getting right back in the saddle. I stall for a day or two, but don't really gain. Falling off Keto, I'd gain five pounds instantaneously and went completely out of control...it just snowballed. I will never do that to myself again. Great apes eat fruit, fiber and lots of plant based protein. I'm a great ape, not a lion.
  6. I eat a ton of carbs and my diet is extremely fat restricted. I eat less than 20g of fat per day. I've lost weight pretty steadily eating at least 3 generous servings of fruit a day and lots of whole grains and veggies including brown rice and potatoes. I'm going to have to increase calories to prolly 1600 to stop my weight loss here pretty quick:) Fat restriction works very well for me.
  7. In truth, less than half of bariatric surgery patients regain weight...and those who do...typically only regain a small portion of what they lose. From the American Society of Bariatric and Metobolic Surgeons: As many as 50 percent of patients may regain a small amount of weight (approximately 5 percent) two years or more following their surgery. However, longitudinal studies find that most bariatric surgery patients maintain successful weight-loss long-term. ‘Successful’ weight-loss is arbitrarily defined as weight-loss equal to or greater than 50 percent of excess body weight. Often, successful results are determined by the patient, by their perceived improvement in quality of life. In such cases, the total retained weight-loss may be more, or less, than this arbitrary definition. Such massive and sustained weight reduction with surgery is in sharp contrast to the experience most patients have previously had with non-surgical therapies. https://asmbs.org/patients/bariatric-surgery-misconceptions

ER trip to rule out blood clot

With blood clots, heart attacks and strokes....always be safe rather than sorry. It's good you went. Glad you're ok.

    Constipation help

Smooth Move tea works shockingly well for me. I was a skeptic....but the poo doesn't lie. It works like a charm. Check with your team first, though. Also...the constipation passes. For me, after the second month have not had any issues.

    Better Choices

Name brand Splenda vs Store brand Sucralose......I can't tell the difference. I ran blind taste tests at home with three people.... and we couldn't pick out which was which. So now we buy store brand for practically half price.

I have not tried salmon jerky this way....I don't think you could cut the fish thin enough to do it this way without it falling apart, and typically fish jerky is smoked. I do HIGHLY recommend doing salmon steaks on a grill outside, though...so so so so good!

Whipped Yoplait vanilla cupcake greek yogurt. (other good flavors....strawberry cheesecake, peach, coconut) Mousse texture...very tasty. Worth the trip to Walmart. 100 calories 9g Protein

Protien pancakes! (quick oats, egg whites, cottage cheese, baking powder, almond milk....in food processor...makes a great batter) I like to eat these guys with a ton of strawberries crushed with splenda and sugar free whipped cream on top.

Dry meat...homemade. Take your favorite lean beef like round steaks....cut it up in thin strips. Marinate overnight in your favorite flavors. I love garlic, hot peppers, Worcestershire, and Montreal Steak Seasonings. Dangle these guys from one of your oven racks...and put a cookie sheet covered in tinfoil under them to catch the drips (easy clean up). Set the oven to 200 degrees and leave them in there 4-6 hours until they're dry and leathery. So much better than jerky. If you taste this...you will never buy jerky again...and your family will devour this as fast as you can make it. Store in airtight container.

Flapjacked Mighty Muffins.... fat people cake. So good. I'll admit I put some splenda in the batter to make them sweeter. 220 calories, 20 grams of protein. This is like a donut for breakfast with your coffee guilt free.

    Opinions

The right answer is to follow your team's instructions to the letter. The naughty answer is....no one's going to call the police if you try something from the next stage on your instructions. If you do (don't!)...try just a little and wait a couple of hours. See if you're up to it. Do NOT skip ahead too much. The next stage over is as far as i'd risk it. And again....it's stupid (I've been known to be stupid)......it's smarter to wait.

Wow it’s been a while, progress pic!

Don't mean to be rude, but did you gain weight since your last set of pics? I think you look good with a little more meat on your butt

Protien pasta Is AWESOME! https://www.barilla.com/en-us/product-results/pasta/range/proteinplus?sort=alpha Made with flax, barley, oats, chickpeas, lentils and eggwhites. The texture is just a little different and the taste is slightly different....but both are pleasant and you'll feel like you're eating the pasta you used to eat. Awesome for pasta salads with veggies, olives, feta. Awesome for veggie based pasta sauces and lean meats and cheeses. Shockingly good...and a great source of plant based protein.

Riced cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes = yuck! It's just not that great. You can kid yourself for a while...but the illusion doesn't last. LOL HOWEVER! If you mix half steamed riced cauliflower with half real boiled potatoes, and mash them with lowfat buttermilk instead of butter and milk....they are AMAZING. They taste genuinely good and have half the calories and a fraction of the fat. This is a favorite recipe of mine and even normal food eaters....love them. No special sides needed.

    What are your favorite vitamins?

Whatever's cheap and has the right ingredients. I do store brand knock offs of Flintstones Complete....they're little animal shapes. LOL Store brand Vitamin D and B12 cherry flavor Generic B Complex....yucko...but I take it. And a ton of rock hard june bug sized Calcium Citrate. Buy one massive bottle, get one free. I munch them up and swallow them with a swig of hot coffee.
