Did You Love Your Surgeon? Did You Like Them?
Creekimp13 replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon is not the kinda guy I'd get into on a personal level...I couldn't see us being friends. (My primary care doc and I feel like friends) BUT! When asking a million nurses and surgical staff about my doctor the comments were: "Meticulous" "Type A" "Perfectionist" "The best in the region" "Kind of an asshat, but an excellent surgeon" I don't have to feel warm and fuzzy about the guy...if I know he does really excellent work and has a track record of being obsessively and urgently involved if anything goes wrong...even if it's his ego driving his concern.... more than his concern for people. Wouldn't want to live with a perfectionist. But yes...it's a GREAT quality in a surgeon! Seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe misunderstood? I'm just glad my surgery went fantastically, and I feel terrific. Excellent support from his office, too. 24/7/365 hotline for JUST HIS OFFICE. That makes me think very well of him. -
The constipation can be a symptom of prolonged dehydration.

Glad you're back at the hospital. I'm sure everything will be ok....just a little harder on some. Was going to mention that a great way to take pills in the beginning is to crush them and put them on a little spoonful of sugar free Kool Whip. Goes down very easy.

First day out of surgery
Creekimp13 replied to j.sierra05@yahoo.com's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got scopolamine, zofran and Emend. Had absolutely zero nausea. Express your concerns to your doc/nurse. -
Dehydration can be dangerous. If you truly can't keep fluids down, that's an emergency. MAKE CERTAIN to tell the ER or Urgent Care staff that you had sleeve surgery and the date. Bring documentation with you!

Not sure what to do...family doc against bariatric surgery
Creekimp13 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Switch doctors. Your doctor is out of date...which doesn't speak well of her keeping up on her continuing education. My doctor's been asking me to consider WLS for over 10 years. So far, so good. -
My story of very MINIMAL hair loss
Creekimp13 replied to Blue Door's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been using rogain as a preventative, too. Put a little foam on before bed around my hairline and crown a couple times a week, and shampoo it out in the morning. Here's hoping! -

I liked all his weird little dogs. And that he tasted his axe. If I were Yukon Cornelius, I'd taste my axe, too. Hell, I might go out in the garage and taste an axe just to be festive. But my most favorite of all..... Was the Bumble. Of course. -

The lesson of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer....competence gets you nowhere, you must look the part or Santa will be ashamed of you. Unless, you know, his arse is in a jam and he has no other choice than to utilize your talents to cover his own butt. Personally? I identify as a gay dentist elf. Molars and Bicuspids fascinate me. Go Hermie...choose the cerebral path less traveled. You inspire me. -

Should I tell him?
Creekimp13 replied to Sherry Rice's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm the lucky one. My hubster is the cat's pajamas on crack. The man has the patience of God...lol. Wouldn't trade him in for an international super model movie star. He's the peas to my carrots. And he makes me laugh. -
Should I tell him?

Personally, if a guy would write me off because I was a little heavy....I wouldn't give him the time of day. I've got no time for shallow asshats. Beauty fades, people get old, if you're not primarily attracted to the heart and mind...the whole relationship has a superficial ick factor that, frankly....feels empty and sort of gross to me. I want more. I deserve more. (And thank God I got more...25 years with a guy who begged for sex nightly when I was 270 and thought I was the sexiest thing on the planet cause he's in love with my smarts and creativity and heart) Someday, when we're 75 and wrinkled prune people with fat little tummies and scrawny limbs...I know he's still gonna find me hot and be endlessly amused by my company. That matters. That's love. -
12/13 surgery. Feeling a bit depressed.
Creekimp13 replied to HappyG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon said in a seminar that about once a week he has a patient in tears at the hospital after surgery saying they have regrets. And they always feel better after a few weeks. it's a very emotional time, and the hormone swings of the big physical changes don't help. It's very common. Just do your best. it's all anyone can ask of you. -
What heals faster rny or vsg?
Creekimp13 replied to psyance's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sleeve heals faster, hands down. Shorter surgery, too. -
I went in for my first consult in May, had my surgery in December. My insurance required 6 months of medically supervised weight loss, psychiatrist, upper GI (which ended up requiring an endoscopy due to what they found), chest X-ray, EKG, and labs. Everyone kept the ball rolling and kept me on target...went very fast and worked out great:)

Best single app for everything?
Creekimp13 replied to march1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm an oldschool Fitbit user. I like that it measures my calories burned, because that's my real goal everyday. I eat healthy and exercise until I have left a 1000 calorie deficit each day. If I want to eat more, I have to exercise more. If I want to take it easy, I go easier on the calories. Most days I burn 3000 calories. (now that I've been sleeved and have a calorie intake goal of around 1200 calories, this might change) I like that the Fitbit (I use a Charger 2) keeps track of my sleep and heartrate and how my cardiovascular fitness is doing. I also like the challenges with other friends who use it. -

Need to lose 20lbs before surgery
Creekimp13 replied to Lisalisa5m's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to lose 10%....which was 27 pounds. I ate 1800 calories a day, and exercised like a mad woman until I burned 3000 calories each day. Tons of walking, especially. The Fitbit is a wonderful tool. Took me about 16 weeks to do it...but I did it:) -
I feel like I’m not losing weight quick enough.
Creekimp13 replied to Rose400491's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'd be doing a happy dance over 5 pounds a month. You didn't put it all on in a few months....takes time to lose it safely:) Be patient and stay healthy. -

Has anyone suffered painful excess gas and bloating?
Creekimp13 replied to Naenae80's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Ginger and mint herbal teas really help with gas. So does the spice Cumin. Probably not a real answer...but they can't hurt?
