These are actually shockingly good. You'd never guess the "chicken" was fungus. -

LOL...not as bad as you might fear. They're all crunchy and dried....and she roasted them in light sea salt and pepper...or a little balsamic and garlic and ginger. If I had to...i could get used to them and survive the next apocalypse. LOLOLOL I just don't WANT to eat them... Candied ants though....not bad! They're very tangy and acidic. With a little sugar, they're like lemon drops. -

Don't tempt her. She will. She's all about bug flours being nutritious... She brought this little sampler over in a pizza box. Dried beetles, crickets, meal worms, and something else? They're not awful....but they're not good either. LOL! I don't mind the cricket flour tortilla chips:) -

(and yes, my entomology loving daughter has made us eat lots of insects...which she believes are the protein of the future. Also, mycoprotein (fungus)...which, I'll admit, I like more than the bugs. LOL) -

I think it stayed about the same? Have always loved to cook. Hubby too, and daughter was considering culinary school until she discovered the kitchen was really her first laboratory:) She's in love with biological research now. Microbio major going to grad school for entomology. But yeah, we're a cooking family...love to cook together and love new experiences:) -

That sounds really good! Do you use the high protein wraps? I use the Flatouts with 90 calories and 9g of protein. I stuff them with turkey bacon, lettuce, tomato and avacado:) I love these: -

I'm 45, Female and a Foodie. Love to cook. Love ethnic foods from around the world. I do eat some meat, but love vegetarian. 216lbs Sleeved on Dec. 5 2017 Tons of energy that I credit to walking 7 miles a day. Walking has been the best tool i've ever found for weightloss. Love my Fitbit. Am interested in diets associated with the most longevity and less cancer risk...so I'm trying to balance my animal proteins with more plant proteins and healthy fats, nuts, etc. Mediterranean Diet and Mayo Clinic Diets are my favorites. I am a fruit and vegetable *****...and I have a terrible sweet tooth that I have to keep a careful leash on. (but do allow it a little action now and again) I love carbs, but have learned to pick better carbs, eat them in moderation, and pick low glycemic carbs to avoid hunger boomerang. Here's a pic of my lunch. Tofu chili, 150 calories and 16g of Protein. The wassa adds another 45 calories and 2g of protein:) -
Nice work! Congrats!

Lookin good, Handsome! Well done!

Oh man...sorry Krista:( It's for the best, but I know it sucks. Hugs to you. Better to be safe, though. Will happen before you know it.

Started at 270 in June. Lost 30 pounds in 6 months of pre-surg diet visits using the Mayo Clinic Diet mostly. (240) Lost 10 pounds in 2 week pre-surg liquid diet. (230) Lost 14 pounds first month after surgery. (216 today) So, I lost 23% of my excess body weight the first month (60 pounds excess weight on day of surgery)....which beats the heck out of the 18% that is the average first month weight loss. Feeling positive! PS...I walk 7 miles a day with my Fitbit pretty religiously. Which helps me feel better about screwing up and eating the occasional cookie or taking a bite of my hubby's dessert. (not a super common thing...but it happens:) )

Driving after a gastric sleeve
Creekimp13 replied to Lumarsolxx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off Narcotics on day 2...drove on day four I think. I could have driven on day three, but hubby was home, so he drove:) -
I just felt...relieved. I've been working really hard. It feels good to have the number match your effort. This will seem contraindicated to a lot of folks here, but one change I made was to reduce animal protein and get my protein from more plant based sources. More beans and brown rice. More tofu, chia seed pudding, etc. I'm also tolerating eating more vegetables...which I am loving. That said...it might just be just hormones and water retention...or the luck of the draw. LOL. Stalls stink. To anyone stuck in one...you have my support.

3 weeks post-op, no weight loss for 2 weeks.
Creekimp13 replied to greygoosecytosis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit the three weeks stall...and had been stuck for almost two weeks. Was making me crazy. Totally empathize with those hitting one. Man, it's frustrating! Got my period yesterday and lost two pounds...and woke up this morning another two and a half pounds down! Not an ounce for two weeks....then, BOOM!...four and a half pounds. The legends are true! Be consistent, be patient. Your hard work IS counting...I promise. scale just needs a minute to catch up:) -
I feel your pain, Sosewsue...nothing worse than working your arse off and seeing that same number (or worse, having it pop up half a pound...ugh) Crossing fingers you see some good results soon.
-
Any chance you could buy an extension of hubby's insurance through COBRA? Might be expensive for a couple of months...but it could save your surgery.

What to do for stalls?
Creekimp13 replied to Rose400491's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you can do: Be consistent, stick to your plan...and employ a buttload of patience. Stalls just happen. They stink. Boo! But this, too, shall pass....and the scale will move again:) -
Day 1 of liquid diet

Good luck to both of you:) -
I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically about 15 years ago. It was outpatient. I went in 7AM, had surgery at 9AM, was in recovery by 10AM, Dischaged at 1PM, and was home on my own couch, eating a turkey Subway sandwich....at 2PM. Was a very easy surgery for me. Then again, so was my sleeve. Maybe healing rapidly is my super power. LOL:)

Has anyone struggled with trying to change their eating habit & yet still be involved with family meal time?
Creekimp13 replied to bignich's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I think your girlfriend could be more supportive. I also have been there and done that...with little kids and hectic schedules. It's tough. So, I understand both perspectives a little. That said.... I think you're being flexible...being ok with them eating junk as long as it's not around you. I don't think she's being reasonable expecting you to be around that kinda food....particularly on your pre-op diet....which is very difficult. The way I see it...she can have it one of two ways....you all eat healthier together, or you have a pass to remove yourself when junk food is being consumed. To not allow you to remove yourself from your addiction...is unreasonable in my opinion. And about the kid's diet......if they share your genetics...it's probably best that they don't get into the habit of eating crap. And even if they don't share your genetics....healthy eating habits are learned. -
Don't be worried. Be consistent and patient. Stalls happen. This, too, shall pass.
