Jazzy Junes First Fill Line up

I thought the first fill was always 6 weeks after surgery. Has anyone else had a fill sooner? Seems like 2 1/2 weeks you are hardly even healed yet.

    Update

Guess I should update this blog. It will be one month tomorrow since I had the lap band surgery. I wish I could say it has been a piece of cake (lol) but it hasn't. Each day gets better but it was a slow healing process for me. My pain is all gone, incisions healed and I have lost 34 pounds. 12 of that was pre-op diet weight loss. I am on the mushy stage and hate it. I am so bored with mushy foods. I had one incident of being "stuck" Oh Lordy! That was crazy painful! Enough to make me very careful from now on. I had decided one day I would just take a bite of pizza. Yikes! It was too soon and I didn't chew it well enough. I am scheduled for my first fill on July 15th. For days now I have been saying I didn't think I needed it yet but today I changed my mind. I feel hungry...all the time now. So I must be due for that fill! For the longest time I couldn't see any light at the end of this tunnel but now I can. It's flickering but I know it is there. I look forward to the day when I can eat what I want and in just much smaller portions and less often. I also look forward to being healthier. I am using a treadmill every day now and just yesterday I was able to run on it...I haven't run since I was a kid. Good things are happening!

I was banded June 4th and go for my first fill on July 15th. I don't really feel like I need a fill yet but maybe that will change between now and then.

    Tears on my pillow

I was banded June 4th this year, I have lost a lot since the surgery but when I saw my doc she said that isn't normal. She said in the first two weeks she usually see's her patient gain weight and or lose a pound or two only. So your 8 pounds is great. One thing I have tried really hard to stick to is no carbs...or very low carbs. I am on the mushy stage for another week and while I can have things like mash potatoes I avoid it cause of the carbs. That is the one thing my doc said would help me lose more weight and so far it is working. Chin up, it sounds like you are doing just fine.

    No Longer Morbidly Obese!

Wow! How much does a person have to weigh to be considered obese? Maybe I am close too! Good job, Wendy I know it hasn't been easy but you are getting there!!!

    Restriction Leaving

Sticking with the working out will benefit you so much in the long run, I applaud you for not giving that up. It certainly would be easy to do. You keep rockin girl! You think you are getting too many calories and I am crying cause I am not getting enough...yesterday I think I had 312 calories...I just can't get much down or it tastes bad when I do have it...I can't get excited about food right now. Last night we took hubby out for his last meal before he deploys and it was at a yummy hambuger place. Normally I would have dove face first into a double burger and a ton of fries. I ordered nothing and thought I would cheat and have a couple of fries. I could hardly get 3 fries down, they didnt taste as good as I remembered and hubby's hamburger smell was making me nauseus...the onions, condiments I dunno...but I could hardly wait til he finished so I would'nt have to smell it. Ugh! Please tell me this will change.
  8. I have several problems I wanted to ask you all about. I am 3 weeks post-op and have been given the go-ahead with the mushy diet. On my list of mushy foods I am allowed to have is grilled fish...I tried it last night. Very small amount, chewed, chewed and took my time. A short time later I had pain or more like discomfort in my chest and back. It seems like when I eat I end up having a lot of upper back pain later, the chest pain only once in a while and this was mild but still bothersome. So what went wrong? Is it too soon for the fish? I will also admit to eating 2 bites of pizza 6 days ago. Now that pain was HORRIBLE. In my chest again, back, and throwing up for over 30 mins. I felt like I couldn't breathe and like I was going to die. Nothing ever came up but spit and something looking sorta like mucous. I was sore all night and well into the next day. I had to take a pain pill to get some sleep. I know I screwed up. And believe me I won't do it again. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed...I just thought what could two bites hurt. And on top of that I was thinking I had no restriction yet so it should just slide thru. My main question is did I do some damage that night? Any time I have anything along the mushy line I get mild chest pain and back pain. I know the chest pain is really stomach pain but it is up high like where I imagine my band to be. Since surgery I have had problems getting all my liquids down and have since gotten a urinary infection. My doc gave me medicine for it and wouldnt you know it is the size of a horse pill. I put off taking them yesterday when I got them and went to take one today...I broke it in half just to be safe. Less than 4 mins later and HORRIBLE pain again, throwing up (nothing just going thru the motions) and sweating, wishing I was dead. How am I going to take this medication now? I called the surgeons office...got in trouble for not telling them about the pizza incident and was told the pizza might still be stuck (6 days ago? still stuck?) I have to mix meat tenderizer with Water and drink it to help get the pizza down..if it is still there. If I don't feel better they want me back in the hospital. Guys...I cannot go back in the hospital, I am so scared now I don't know what to do. My pain from the pill has subsided, just sore now. I was so hopeful when I went in to have this done. All I wanted was a new life and now I fear I will have to live this way forever. I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. I was reluctant to post this as I don't want to scare any newbies off but I am desperate for feedback.

    My New Hairdo

LOVES IT!!!!!! You look FABULOUS!!! I think you need to swap out the old picture you are using for the one of your big beautiful smile!!!!!! I'm calling my Mom and seeing if I can get a new hairdo for 50 pound loss!!!! Sounds like a great deal!
  12. Thank you Patch...that helps a lot.
  13. Thank you both. It has been 6 days since the pizza not 6 weeks. LOL Six weeks ago I could have swallowed the slice whole and had no problems. heh heh Relaxing is good advice...my hubby said the same thing. I guess I just imagined my insides were healed...my incisions are healed and I guess I thought the inside is too. I keep forgetting that 3 weeks wasn't that long ago. I will try the juice and go back on liquids. I will do whatever it takes to make sure this goes away and that I succeed. Thank you so much for your help!

    Thinking of cancelling surgery

Everyone has their own experience. I would say from what I read before my surgery most are good. I on the other hand am one of the negative experiences. I won't go into detail as I don't want to scare you or bring you down but I will say it hasn't been as easy as I thought. I wish I would have read more negative stories so I would have been prepared. When the bad stuff hit me I was shocked cause I never dreamed it would be like this. I am 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. I have lost 32 pounds and it has been very hard. You just have to go with your heart and gut...even if I would have read more bad stuff I wouldn't have changed my mind about surgery but I would have liked to have been more prepared for the possibility of the bad things I have gone thru. Stay positive and know there are tons of people here who will help you along this journey. I know cause they have been there for me and have been my saviing grace many times. Best wishes and keep us posted!
  15. I used to live near Roseville..sorta. We lived in Plumas Lake near Marysville. Good luck with your surgery!!

Im so ashamed, and now scared

Aw I feel your pain! I am about 2 1/2 weeks post-op and on mushies...I decided I could handle two bites of pizza last night. OMG! It was the worse pain ever and it lasted a good 30 mins, I felt like I was gonna throw up and went thru the motions but the pizza never came back up...just saliva. It was so painful, I too took a pain pill...was sore all night and still today. I will never do that again! Someone told me her doc said to buy papaya enzyme...you can get it at GNC I guess and her doc said to buy two bottles and keep on in your purse. I guess when you have this kind of situation and you feel like the food is stuck the papaya stuff will help break it down so it can pass thru. Good luck!
  17. Doc put mine on the left side too...above belly button but below bra line.

    Was banded on Monday and

I'll be the first one to admit that the liquid stage is not fun but my body so needs this time to heal and not to digest. My level of pain after the surgery was HORRIBLE. I never had so much pain in my life, I vowed right then and there to make sure I didn't do this for nothing. I read that someone said they are tired of all the liquids but is also having trouble with dehydration???? As for myself (11 days out) am hardly ever hungry. It's hard to get liquids down cause I am just flat out not interested in any kind of nurishment but I know I have too. When my doc said I could have pudding or applesauce I tried the applesauce and threw up, whoa that was painful and not fun. This girl is gonna take it slow if it kills me. I will confess to sucking on a potato chip yesterday though. lol Good luck to all and just try to take it slow...
  20. I miss chewing right now too, the way I try to please that urge is I went and bought a ton of sugar free gum! I was never a gum chewer before but now I love it. I got all kinds of flavors and it helps a lot...not sure if it is okay or not but it seems like it would be since it is sugar free.
  21. LOVE LOVE LOVE my magic bullet. It is perfect for my shakes which I do put a lot of ice in, never had a problem with it breaking down the ice. And it is great for mushy stage too. I like that it comes with several cups, everyone in the family can have their own. We pretty much all have a smoothie of some type each day and it is so easy my 12 year old makes her own. Clean up is a breeze! We go camping several times a year too in a travel trailer and always take the bullet with us...nice for mixed drinks and doesn't take up a lot of room in the trailer.

    Was banded on Monday and

I am surprised you are allowed to eat bread this soon. I am on full liquids for two weeks and that means nothing thicker than pudding. Have you lost much weight yet? I am 10 days post-op and have lost 27 pounds but I imagine being on all liquids right now is helping me. Robin
  23. Insky67

    Cauliflower tastes like mashed potatos??

I've heard that about califlower too...will have to give it a try.
  24. Insky67

    decaf iced coffee??

They brought me decaf coffee while I was still in the hospital...said it was okay if it was decaf. I had no problems with it and it was goood.
  25. 9 days post op here and still in quite a bit of pain. It comes and goes. I never imagined it would be like this...everyone else seems to have such an easy time with it all.
