    Do I make the cut?

How old are you Taylor? You appear quite young. Some one mentioned epigastric sleeve with stitches I had never hear of that, perhaps its another name for an endoscopic sleeve gastroplastry. This is the procedure I will undertaking in October. While people with much higher BMIs have had the procedure it is ideal for those with lower BMIs. Some people have complained about not getting enough restriction. Some doctors don't seem to be restricting enough of the stomach or use fairly loose stitching. For others, the stitches have not held for some reason.

How long did it take to lose 100lbs

I wouldn't say 100lb in six months was slow, that's an average of nearly 17lb per month.

All the products from the edible bug shop includes milk chocolate and mealworms (acceptable because it had a heartbeat once) and roasted mealworms with saltbush and rosemary, along with dehydrated ants https://ediblebugshop.com.au/collections/all

Not that I would be queuing up to buy it, but the protein is pretty good I see, nearly 14gms for every 20gms though there wasn't a fibre count on the nutritional panel. Even more interesting the crickets are farmed and processed in Australia for that brand. https://ediblebugshop.com.au/products/vitabug-cricket-protein-powder Our VitaBug Cricket Protein Powder has been specially created to provide a fantastic source of environmentally sustainable, digestable protein. We have spent years formulating a special diet to feed our crickets, so that each mouthful contains as many essential nutrients as possible. The result is a 100% natural protein product, which contains 100% ground crickets...and nothing else! Our Crickets are farmed and processed right here in Australia! And contain the only species of crickets approved for human consumption by FSANZ. The Cricket Protein Powder is specially dried and milled so that it is as fine as regular flour. The resulting powder is very versatile and can be used to add extra nutrients to many sweet and savoury dishes. This product comes in a resealable stand up pouch with 10 x 20g serves Each 20g serve of cricket super powder contains over 13g of digestible protein as well as calcium, iron and heaps of other essential micronutrients. It also has lots of B12 and B2 Vitamins and 3 times the amount of Omega 3 as salmon. It also has no added salt and no added sugar. Take a look at our recipes section for ideas on how to use the cricket powder in your everyday cooking. So you can't eat anything plant based and presumably only poultry, meat or fish, though I guess bugs and the like are okay? I assume humans are off the table though (sorry being a little facetious).
  6. Sorry to hear you are not getting the support that may be expected from your family. Sometimes the issue isn't losing weight (as you can vouch for) the issue is the ability to maintain the loss over the long term. WLS is a tool that can help both in losing weight and maintaining that weight loss. You don't want to be yoyoing with your weight, and you want to give yourself and husband the best change of another baby, plus you want to be as healthy as you can possibly be for your child/children. Your mother and sister may not change their stance, but show that you are determined to proceed and have sucess. You can't force them to talk about it, but you can find others that will support you here on the forums and perhaps in various support groups where you are at.
  7. Pinkmints, will your doctor take a look to see if the stitches are holding up? I am on three FB groups for ESG and some have complained about not feeling the restriction they thought they would be getting. It seems that either some stitches are not holding or some doctors are not doing the same degree of restriction as others.

    Blocked air

It varies, generally a day or so, for others a little more. Walk, walk and walk some more it helps to release it. When did you have you ESG?

    Hoping for ESG

Yeah finally received confirmation for the go ahead for my ESG procedure. It won't be until mid October, timing is mine due to not long being with a new employer and the implementation of a new finance system being rolled out 1 July. This will give me some time to sort out the finances either early release of super, if not approved combination of loan and own funds. Now I can make plans for airfares and accommodation.

    Don't pray for me

I find what makes everything worse are peoples' attitudes. Case in point, your post from where the quoted sentence comes from.

    Phases are confusing

There seems to be a variety of pre op / post op diet phases, best follow the one provided by your surgeon/nutritionist, which I assume is what you are referring to when you mention papers? What exactly do the papers say, is there a clear progress through the stages? Giving examples of what can be eaten at each stage? If you are unsure, you could probably attach a copy of papers to a post in on the forum, and some of the more experienced could help, or you could contact your surgeon/nutritionist for clear instructions, which is probably the way to go. If the instructions are unclear you will probably get a variety of answers here.

    Facebook group??

Get yourself a different email address and create a new facebook account and join from there. This is what I have done. If you join a group on your current account, I think friends can still see you've joined and they may will look to see what the group is about, and even if the there isn't anything related to weight loss or bariatric in the group name, they would easily see what the group is about from the description.
  17. So I assume you have had more pain since your visit to the doctor? Go back and insist for scans or whatever else would verify it's gallstones or not, and ask to be treated for gallstones. I can't be a doctor believe a doctor would suggest it could be gallstones but do nothing to find out if it is or not. Be assertive and ask for the relevant test/s.
  18. Did you by chance have a gastric balloon before the ESG? I am hoping to have the ESG and the doctor told me he no longer does them for anyone who has had a gastric balloon as the failure rate has been high due to the stitches not holding/loosening. The research as yet to determine why but he thinks may be due to the balloon stretching the stomach tissues. I am sorry you have gone through this, hopefully there is an option for you for a successful revision. On a FB group I belong to, some who haven't felt sufficient restriction have revisioned to a VSG or bypass. I would think in Australia as the ESG was introduced less than two years ago, there wouldn't be too many revisions as yet.

Gained 4 kg in 9 days!

From what I have read, that is too few calories for someone three months post op. You won't have put on fat weight, it is more likely fluid retention plus possibly bulk from the extra food. It is only temporary, a bit like when people go through the post op diet stages, as they progress they typically have a stall or gains, but once their bodies adapt weight loss kicks in again. While WLS does typically result in a lower calorie intake, you don't want to go so low that it comprises your health: body using muscle for nutrition - you want to maintain muscle as much as possible, hair loss, lack of energy etc. Bear in mind, now that you are already in the healthy BMI range, that weight loss will be lower per week than it was immediately following your surgery. Please do listen to your nutritionist.

    New

The site below looks useful, however, your surgeon should have provided you witha a post op diet, and you should at least follow that for the first couple of months. http://drjalil.com/jalil-illan-bariatric-post-op-diet.html

    Australia

Hi, I'm in Australia too, but no I haven't had the omega loop gastric bypass, first I've heard of it. I looked it up, I see its also know as mini gastric bypass which I have seen mentioned on the boards. http://www.lapsurgerybrisbane.com.au/weight-loss-surgery-brisbane/mini-gastric-bypass-omega-loop/ There is a whole sub forum that type of surgery here https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1111-mini-gastric-bypass-surgery-forum/ I hope you are recovering well! What is your post op diet routine for the next couple of weeks?
