  1. I loved this show, he is very compassionate. I liked to that they use to do follow ups.
  2. Weight loss is mostly about eating or lack of, but excercise isn't necessarily about weight loss, its about health and fitness. What is the point of losing a whole of fat and not being at least healthy with it. Improved fitness can bring additional health benefits. I haven't watched the video (I don't want to add to his views, I am not sure I like that he pushes MLM products and using his 'bariatric' platform to sell them), so don't know why the doctor is saying not to exercise, but imagine to start with would because of the low calorie consumption, lack of sufficient calories to meet the calorie demands of exercise. But what exercise is he saying not to do? Cardio or resistance? Or both? Cardio may help with fat loss, resistance at sufficient weights/reps/set, if consuming sufficient protein, will help build lean body mass.

Dealing with Family during the Holidays

    Wonderful reading, thank you!

    Second thoughts!

A nurse shouldn't be passing on their personal opinion based on things they have seen, they have no idea of the patients' personal / medical history, they have no idea how compliant the person has or hasn't been post op. They Non-compliance could well have caused some of the issues they have supposedly seen. Talk to your doctor/surgeon about the concerns that she has caused you to have. You have obviously considered WLS because you are overweight and its usually not a first choice for weight loss, so I would say you have tried and failed at various weight loss methods. What will you do to lose weight if not WLS? I am sorry to hear about your friend, but was it confirmed that five years after WLS, that WLS causes the bowel obstruction. At the end of the day, you have to do what is right for you and what you feel safe with, but you should research further with other medical staff - your doctor, bariatric surgeons etc.

    Coconut water

It was specifically excluded from mine, but I would think it would depend on the calorie/carb/sugar content, some coconut water can be high in sugar, others are low. If you are talking about clear liquid diet immediately post op, I would think its okay if you aren't getting any or sufficient calories elsewhere but may be empty calories if beyond clear liquid diet if you are getting sufficient calories from free liquids. Perhaps clarify with your dietician as it may be one of those things where every doctor/dietician has a differnt point of view on coconut water for post op diets.

    EGS to Gastric sleeve

I have posted in another thread in the ESG subforum a link to an article for regarding successful ESG revision to sleeve, but there seems to be some talk about surgeons not wanting to do sleeves due to the suture anchors and they seem to prefer doing bypass revisions for ESG. On an ESG facebook group I belong to, there is a surgeon who posts occasionally and it was something he mentioned when someone asked the question. I will see if I can find it.

Fat shaming ?? Post op over 4 yrs

We see it, it's just that not everyone judges a stranger based on their physical appearance some of which way be something out of their control. I imagine a lot of people enjoy people watching, but I think you need a new hobby - perhaps volunteering for the not so fortunate and those down on their luck. It may give you some badly needed empathy.

    Vitamin Patches

Patches work for so many different things: painkillers, hormones etc, what is different about vitamin patches that would make them not work?

Why is there always so much food?

I have deleted a photo... Edited to add, but then I just realised you mean in the forum posts....not profile pics etc

    Hungry....

May not be hunger, could possibly be acid reflux? Are you on any medication for a little while to help reduce acid?

    Hoping for ESG

Almost seven weeks since the procedure. Last week I started standard foods with a focus on protein and veges first, up to one cup volume three times a days. No snacking until maintenance. Haven't been perfect, been times when I ate too much and my body let me know. I am learning to pay attention to my body, am slowing down the eating so I get the satisfied signals. Weight loss has been slower as I have progressed through the food phases, that is to be expected and once I get the right balance along with cardio and the gym my body will find it's sweet spot for weight loss, if that's only a few hundred grams a week so be it. More important to me that health and fitness improves. I start going to the gym this week, I expect to be muscle sore Some comparison pics: (pay no mind to the bed hair!)

    follow-up and my experience

Well done, looks like you got this!
  13. Destination Beauty is mostly Australian and NZ I think, I could be wrong. There is an Australian plastic surgery forum that you may find useful if you are from Australia or NZ. You will some threads about overseas surgery but I think most is about Australian clinics https://cosmeticjourney.com/forum/ Search of threads using destination beauty https://cosmeticjourney.com/forum/search/?q=destination beauty

    Contemplating ESG

How many ESG procedures have they done?

    Contemplating ESG

There is a facebood group for USA ESG its called: Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Support Group USA, its fairly active if you do not get sufficient responses here. I am in the early stages of my ESG, just started normal foods at one cup volume three times a day. My recovery was pretty good, had intermittent cramps for three days/two nights only. My diet hasn't been perfect, but my results you can see on the left there. Some people on the three ESG facebook groups I belong have regretted their ESG...they say they do feel any restriction and/or have put on weight, others have had great success some losing over 40kilos. While results vary due to the individual, I also think its due to the skill of the doctor/surgeon...best to ask how many ESGs they have undertaken, what the average weight loss is for their patients, how many failures/complications their patients have experienced. What post op support programs they have in place. The skill is needed to judge where the sutures go and how many to sutures to insert so as they give proper restriction and have the best chance for endurability.

Why isn’t the weight coming off

You just need to read a lot of posts on bariatricpal forums regarding immediate post op weight loss, and you will see its quite common not to lose a lot of weight initially. You are carrying a lot of excess fluid for various reasons, one being inflammation, another hormones, etc etc..as time progresses the scale will drop. You will need to also consider the stalls along the way, some people stall as they progress through the post op diet stages.

    Apollo Overstitch in Tijuana?

I had already booked time off for holidays, I was going to Thailand. so I had the two weeks off. I probably would have been ready by day four or five to go back to work if I had needed to.

    Apollo Overstitch in Tijuana?

This is from my doctor's ESG FAQ https://bmiclinic.com.au/endoscopic-sleeve-gastroplasty-faq/ Can I have an ESG following a gastric balloon, gastric sleeve or gastric bypass? ESG following gastric balloon: Recent research has revealed that people who’ve had a gastric balloon do less well following ESG in terms of weight loss. For this reason, we do not recommend ESG to anyone who’s has previously had a gastric balloon. ESG following gastric sleeve: Endoscopic revision of a gastric sleeve is possible, however the weight loss that results is only approximately 10% of the baseline weight. There are likely more effective options which you can talk through with your Bariatric Specialist. ESG following gastric bypass: Endoscopic suturing is possible via a procedure called TORe, Transoral Outlet Revision.

    Apollo Overstitch in Tijuana?

It's going well, hasn't been perfect, there were times when I could have made better choices. Today I start 'normal diet' with one cup volume. In the early stages we need to be mindful not to do anything that could stretch or break the sutures while the stomach is still healing and 'melding'. I also need to remembr that the stomach opening is also reduced and if I eat too much too fast, there is going to be a lot of pain for a long time. This happened Friday night...ate dinner about 6pm and was still in pain about 18hours later. it was a good reminder, and I have stripped everything right back. Small bites, lots of chews, slowing down, strictly measuring food etc etc

    Apollo Overstitch in Tijuana?

I assume this is what is known as the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty for those who have it as a primary WLS and not revision. I can only give a perspective from a recovery point of view and with an Australian slant as practices may be different elsewhere. There is generally no overnight stay in hospital in Australia. My doctors instructions include: two weeks pre op diet, one day clear pre op. On day of procedure and day following - no fluids/foods instead have iv infusions. Three day clear liquids, three weeks free liquids, one week puree and one week soft. Then typical diet with one cup volume while losing weight with focus on proteins and veges. Portions to increase or snacks when in maintenance mode. Prior to procedure I was required to take nexium for one week and then three weeks following to lower stomach acid. Took a fairly strong anti-nausea tablet before procedure, and then two different types of anti nausea meds for three days after. I was fortunate, I only had some stomach cramps for up to three days. Recovery has been great with the ESG, a lot of people are back at work within days.

    Discouraged

You've lost 50lb in two months and you are discouraged? You must have some fairly high expectations unless your post is missing some pertinent information, for instance why do you think your stomach has stretched after only two months?
