The noises are natural, you will get use to it. Did your surgen prescribe any stomach acid reducing meds for post op? This should help with any acid reflux or indigestion issues. For water, I typically have a big water bottle that I can around, I a generally sipping all day.

Support and honesty needed
Hop_Scotch replied to ShrinkingTN- hopefully's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
He is projecting his insecurities and fears, there are plenty of people who have had success with WLS. At the end of the day it's up to you, but weight loss isn't about an exercise schedule, where will you be this time next year and the year after that if you don't do surgery? If you haven't successfully lost and maintained in the past what will be different for you if you don't do the surgery? While your husband's support would be wonderful, it isn't necessary for you to be successful with WLS. In general, how is your marriage with regards to other things? You don't need to answer here, but do bear in mind, that relationship issues are often made worse when one of those in the relationship has WLS. If there are current issues may be worth having some relationship counselling as soon as possible. -
i have a friend who was experiencing late dumping following bypass, from what I recall her dietician advised her she still eating too much carbs. She said she was a moderate carb eater and once she went lower/low carb the dumping improved. I have no experience as bypass is not my procedure but was interested in finding out more (upon reading this thread) so went looking as to what caused late dumping and what could help. Some sites said the same as my friend's dietician, one mentioned the vagus nerve. From the following website: https://bariatricsurgeryco.org/bariatric-surgery/bariatric-surgery-risks/dumping-syndrome/ Late stage dumping syndrome, which occurs 1 to 3 hours after eating, consists of hunger, fatigue, dizziness and lightheadedness, and feeling like your muscles are made of jelly. It is caused when sugar makes your body produce too much insulin, which drives your blood sugar down below normal levels. Again, the key to avoiding late dumping syndrome is to avoid sugar or high-glycemic-index foods and increase your dietary fiber content.

do you tell your weight lost
Hop_Scotch replied to Xapphirea's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You could always say, 'my primary goal is health improvements and that is going great so far, thanks for asking' -
Do you know shy the surgeon isn't accepting the clearance?

do you tell your weight lost
Hop_Scotch replied to Xapphirea's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No need to tell anyone anything that you are not comfortable with, that said if you open the door to such conversations expect questions. You didn't open the door this time, but your husband did, perhaps its time to remind him that at this stage you will choose who needs to know about your procedure and that you would appreciate it if he didn't disclose or discuss with anyone without your permission. -
Stigma may keep people from getting weight loss surgery
Hop_Scotch replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
One doctor of mine brought up my weight, he had been given a number of saxenda supplies by a rep for him to distribute to patients (bearing in mind that one of the doctor's speciaility's was diabetes 2) to trial for a month. My blood glucose levels were up, I was happy to try, I had been concerned about my weight and failing many times to lose. Saxenda wasn't for me, it made my dry mouth worse. It was also going to be quite expensive if I had continued with it. My other doctor had really discussed my weight except in relation to high blood pressure and cholestrol levels, but when I asked for a referral for a gastric balloon, he was happy to give me one (I didn't go through with that, I didn't like the specialist). A couple of years later I asked for a referral for a band (didn't go through with that either (the (different) specialist gave me a book about life with a band, scared me off the idea of a band). Fast forward to March/April 2018 I asked once again for a referral, this time for an Endscopic Sleeve Gastroplastry (ESG), again I had the referral, this time I did proceed Never once though did he express concern about my ever increasing weight, to be honest I am not sure how I would have taken it if he had, however, he was always happy to give me the referrals. My experience with the saxenda was probably half way between the band referral and the ESG referral. -
Seems more like everyday chat and issues/challenges rather than unique 'sophomores' chat and issues/challenges.

Did your surgeon or dietician give you any guidelines re soda? Some do, some don't. The thought is that the carbonation can make the much reduced stomach feel gassy and bloated, some also say that the gas released can stretch the stomach.

Way be worth checking in with your doctor in case of any medical issues, particular if you are getting at least the recommended minimum of water. I have sjogren's syndrome, worse symptom for me is dry mouth, when sjogren's first presented itself to me I mistook dry mouth for thirst. I am not suggesting you have sjogren's as being thirsty despite drinking plenty of fluids could be indicative of many things.

Is it a physical feeling to want to drink? Or a deliberate attempt to fill your tummy? Perhaps measure out the water you need to drink each day...into about 8 to 10 containers, only drink one per hour but pace yourself in that hour, make sure you don't consume it all in the first 10 or so minutes.

Thinking about food all the time
Hop_Scotch replied to Leenkath's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At what point are you at? Have you started your official pre-op diet? In general, yes it is normal for some, particularly if you keep telling yourself 'stop thinking about food or don't think about food'...your brain hears food, and that is all it thinks about. Think positively instead for instance, I will drink all my fluids today, I will eat all my protein.. -
Absolutely, it's good you have taken the feedback on board, make sure you follow through with seeing the nutritionist or dietician.
-
With all that activity, incidental or not, you definitely need more than 400 calories a day, check back in with your dietician, be very specific with them about your incidental activity as well as any exercise you do.
-
It does get easier! I assume you are also allowed non starchy vegetables? If so, make sure you are eating the maximum allowed, it will help give you a more satisfied feeling.

Sounds like you could benefit from a session or two with a physio therapist and then an exercise physiologist.

Sometimes one or two of the symptoms of acid reflux can feel like hunger, and if you aren't taking any acid reduction medication at this point in time, there may be too much acid in your stomach for the amount of food you are consuming. It is not uncommon to feel hungry if too much acid in the stomach or if have acid reflux. "When we eat food, the stomach is stimulated to produce even greater amounts of stomach acid and to empty even faster. ... We often confuse dyspepsia with hunger because you may feel shaky, slightly nauseated or weak and eating food makes the symptoms disappear." https://familydoctor.org/condition/dyspepsia/
-
Are you drinking fluids and consuming protein as per your doctor/dietician guidelines? Are you sure it's hunger you are feeling? Not acid reflux perhaps? Are you taking something to reduce stomach acid at the moment? Have you touched base with your dietician?

Confronting the "mean girls"
Hop_Scotch replied to DeeberLee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These were my thoughts too. We all have our own perceptions (we weren't there we don't know the tone of voice or what they are generally like), but from what you written OP it doesn't sound 'mean girls' to me, but speculation, which we all have done at one time or another. -

What I've Received for Xmas from My Bosses
Hop_Scotch replied to mousecat88's topic in Rants & Raves
So far from my work and/or work colleagues for Christmas: three course christmas dinner with all the alcohol won chocolate hamper at said christmas dinner christmas breakfast lunch bbq bottle of sparkling wine numerous small santa chocs one monster size toblerone $50 gift voucher (the boss) another small gift pack with two type of chocs tomorrow (last working day before Christmas woohoo) I understand we will be having another lunch. Nobody knows I have had an ESG, and surprisingly no one as asked (obviously all too polite) anything about my weight loss. A large number of the things above have been regifted, for the booze and what is left I will be taking Chrstmas day to my family Today I distributed my own gifts: two large panettones to the two people I work closest to choc hazelnut tubey things x 1 2 mini panettones lots of small santa chocs 1 small pack of doggie shaped scotch finger biscuits Christmas, food and treats all go hand in hand unfortunately lol. Thankfully I have had reasonable restraint and am doing well in not woofing down all all the above. Far cry from this time last year in which I would woof down everything include any food gifts I had bought and would need to buy a second lot of them. -
30lb pound in 40 days sounds pretty good to me, thats 30lb in almost six weeks. Take into account, the first week or so when there is the surgery fluid gain, take into account the typical 3rd or 4th week stall, all in all you are doing well. But generally, we know nothing about you, your height, weight, how many calories you are consuming, how much you lost pre-op....etc etc...I still say its pretty good, and your expectations may possibly be too high dependent on your start weight.
-
Sounds like you need the support of friends and/or family right now, if that isn't possible do some things that keeps both your hands and mind occupied. You have probably cried a few tears by now, but if you need to do more don't hold back.

lightheaded and dizzy feeling
Hop_Scotch replied to MissMissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many calories are you consuming? On the assumption that you are eating sufficient calories, it may be something else, perhaps its related to blood pressure? If it continues to happen you should see your doctor.
