ESG Progress Updates For Accountability
Hop_Scotch replied to hope4momof4's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Thanks for sharing your update and fantastic goal weight news! -
That looks great. I am guessing with all the exericse you are getting you need the carbs and don't need to be wary of them in the same way some of us do.

Hop_Scotch replied to sleeved102819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doesn't look like anyone has, but you can try a forum search on the word nutrafol you may find some old posts. Search field is on the top left hand side of the screen. Good luck -
A little advice - May help me go a long way
Hop_Scotch replied to Podgeylass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Have you had a dexa scan to determine your body fat levels? If may be that you do not have sufficient excess fat to lose. Do you have a lot of excess skin? It may be that the those few remaining pounds are excess skin as opposed to excess body fat. Aside from a number on a scale what do those 5lb mean to you? -
Have you progressed to the next stage in the post op food stages in the last week? If you haven't you may want to check in with your doctor or dietician making sure you are eating the correct volume of food. Typically for a lot of people there is a stall when they progress to the next stage of food...liquids to pureed/softs foods and pureed/soft foods to solid foods. Hormonal issues may also cause stalls or high weight loss on the weeks (eg in the few days before a period is due to start). It may also be useful if you share your typical day's menu with volumes so that some of the sleeve veterans may be able to offer the benefit of their experience and may some tweaks.

You have lost 19lb since your operation? Or was some of that due to the pre-op diet? It wasn't that long ago you lost about 10lb. Are you weighing daily? How long since you have lost weight?

Dr. V: Why you shouldn't exercise after WLS
Hop_Scotch replied to Lynda486's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Last time I looked at his youtube channel and facebook page he was spruiking about MLM products and he was trying to recruit sellers. Some of the major speakers at a conference he was organising at that time were major players in the MLM world. Haven't been back to look since. -
Mental Health Evaluation
Hop_Scotch replied to steph92000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is disappointing to be put back like that. Can you ask to be on a waiting list for any appointment cancellations so you can hopefully get to see him before January? -
Don't dread it. Change your attitude and thinking. Look at it as being an opportunity or even many opportunities. An opportunity to lose some weight before surgery, an opportunity to reduce your liver size to protect it from injury while undergoing surgery. An opportunity to practice constrained eating before your surgery, if you can do two weeks pre-op you are on your way to the managing better your liquid diet post op, the pureed and soft stage as well. Only you can change your thinking, you can do it!

Drinking fluids without much issues post op???
Hop_Scotch replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mentioned in another post that your surgeon left a bigger pouch than normal, it may be because of that you can drink more than some others. -

I think we have a bot. Posts reported -
Depends on the amount of excess skin to be had. It can take up to three years to skin to retract to the full extent it is going to. How much it retract, if it does, depends on many things - genetics, total amount weight loss, history of multiple big losses and gains (skin will lose elastricity regardless of good genetics), age, environment. I think the exercise thing could be useful if there isn't a lot of excess skin, by building muscle you are proving some support to the excess skin thus making it less saggy. I doubt this would be helpful if there was a lot of excess skin though.

Fkn up Already - 1 week post op
Hop_Scotch replied to FknUpAlready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Forget weight watchers you need to back to your doctor and your dietician, talk things out, work on a plan to get you back on track You also need to get back on the program, one week out I would have thought you would be on liquids only? Solid food at this this may do damage to your new stomach and could cause you health complications. -
Medicaid phone# for inquiring
Hop_Scotch replied to Msmarie1214@gmail.com's topic in Insurance & Financing
Sorry can't help with the medicaid thing, but if your user name is actually your email address, you may want to change it for privacy reasons, plus you will likely end up with a lot of spam emails. -
Panda's post surgery accountability thread
Hop_Scotch replied to Panda333's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can contact bariatricpal at the contact us link https://www.bariatricpal.com/contact/ I am assuming its not about this thread but if you want to report any particular post anywhere in the forums, there is a report post link on every post. -
If the dating sites aren't working for you, real life is where its at. Got to leverage off friends and families, meet people at hobbies, volunteering, work, social events, quiz nights, social club nights,, social sports and activies...put yourself out there not necessarily looking for someone. I think a lot of people actually meet someone when they aren't particularly looking...they are just being themselves.

2weeks post op and wanting non liquid food
Hop_Scotch replied to BillW82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long do you have left on liquids? My suggestion would be looking for things to do that involve the mind and hands so that you are distracted for a little while. Knitting, crocheting, puzzles, games with children, anything as to where your own interests lie, etc. -
No because even thinned out they would have been fairly dense and possibly with bean skins.

That's great and plenty of time to plan!

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty anyone?
Hop_Scotch replied to Dr-Patient's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is said to be reversible, however, there has been some doubt about it being reversible over the long term once the anchors and sutures have taken hold/stomach 'melded'. I am no expert but I would say it is possibly reversible in the early stages. For those who have had an ESG and need a revision some surgeons will not do a VGS due to the anchors but will do a bypass. -
New Forum Idea: for the young folk
Hop_Scotch replied to Glower's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Perhaps start an aged based thread/post, put the age group sought in the thread/post subject header. You may get some out of the age group sought posting but hopefully that will be received in the spirit intended. -
It is different for everyone, but your surgeon should be able to give you some guidance based on what they know about you and the post op program they have you on. Don't be too upset when you come home from surgery that you may weigh more than when you went in...IV fluids and inflammation contribute to temporary fluid gain, it won't last long.
