Motivation peaks and troughs, motivation may get you started but commitment will keep you going. For exercise, do something that you enjoy...join a sports team if that's your thing ogor dancing. If you find yourself constantly putting off scheduled exercise..do in the morning....get everything ready the night before, set as many alarms as you need to get out of bed, get out of bed and just do it. That way you have no excuses later in the day. Do you enjoy walking but short of time? Break it down into manageable chunks of time...instead of doing 30 minutes do 2 x 15mins or 3 x 10mins etc. Make appointments to walk with a friend or family member...it will be a great opportunity to catch up while exercising.

Insurance and body lift ... IT'S A JOKE
Hop_Scotch replied to damzelindistres5's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Chronic not life threatening. Chronic as in long term/consistent skin rashes or other medical issues due to chafing skin. It isn't that difficult if there are documented medical visits to substantiate the issues. -
Opinions are just opinions they are not statements of fact. We can't control what other people think or say, but we can control how we react to it. If we can laugh off such comments we don't allow others any power over the way we think or act.

Insurance and body lift ... IT'S A JOKE
Hop_Scotch replied to damzelindistres5's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
In Australia, it doesn't have to be a life threatening issue around excess skin but there does need be a chronic medical issue caused by the excess skin. Here is a weight loss surgeon who also does what he calls body contouring where it is covered by medicare/PHI. https://www.anthonyclough.com.au/body-contouring-surgery.html Another lady I know on an FB group had her arms done under medicare. -
I was watching a video by a weight loss surgeon from Perth, Western Australia. I found a point he made quite interesting. After doing a review of the number of revisions he had done on his patients, he thought that he was using a too large a bougie size for them, now he goes smaller and the revisions have reduced substantially.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you been told what the actual problemis? Is it on the list of possible complications you should have been provided with pre surgery?

No protein shakes 1st week post op??
Hop_Scotch replied to bruhaha0267's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many surgeons have different protocols. In early post op best not be swayed by other protocols, if you have issues at least you can say truthfully to your surgeon that you followed their post op guidelines. I am astounded by the variation in protocols, but I guess over time surgeons vary their post op guidelines based on the outcomes of their own patients plus their own training/knowledge/experience/etc -
Sleve Revision 12/5....nervous
Hop_Scotch replied to msjovanna's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are a few people about who have had revisions, hopefully someone will offer their experience. Hope it all goes well for you ! -
Not sure if I am much help, but I have read occasionally of some people trying to ensure they do not go below the threshold. Hopefully someone can share there experience. You'd hope people wouldn't be penalised for being compliant though, and that losing weight would be beneficial for the operation plus hold the person in good stead for post op life. Are you able to call the health insurance company and check with them?

Bump for you, hopefully someone will be able to help -
I do get mucus but only if I eat wheat products on a consistent basis. If the mucuss has continued beyond a few days you may want to chat with your doctor see if there is an infection or some other type of bowel inflammation. These give a little more info" https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/310101.php#causes_of_mucus_in_stool https://www.mayoclinic.org/mucus-in-stool/expert-answers/faq-20058262 Warning: when searching on google for mucus in stools - do not click on th images link lol

I had to google to see what a skytu scan and for anyone this may help https://www.styku.com/ Do they charge extra for them or is it part of your membership cost?
-
Sorry to hear about the pains, what does your doctor think it may be?

Wow your weight loss is very visable, congratulations on what you have achieved so far, and I love the new hair cut. Is your surgeon/medical team satisfied with your progress? If they aren't did they have any suggestions for you? How many calories are you eating in a day? How much protein? Are you still following your post-op food guidelines?

Struggling with food cravings
Hop_Scotch replied to mediocreoblongata's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Not sure if this will help you, but if it were me I be looking for things to do that occupies me so that I am distracted from the cravings. Visit or call friends and family, you can't exercise much at the moment I imagine - but short walks listing to music, knitting or crocheting, a good puzzle whether a jigsaw, crossword or suduko, cleaning a cupboard or wardrobe. Does your medical team have any suggestions? -
I really enjoyed watching the fat doctor episodes, I wish there were more of them.

First date in 2 years! 😩
Hop_Scotch replied to Melly007's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Movies don't give you the opportunity to know each other better Can you perhaps suggest something else to do? Wander around a local market? Is there a festival or outdoor event when you can wander around and/or sit and chat? Otherwise you could ring the restaurant and ask if they would mind doing something different for you, that way that are prepared for when you turn up. -
Just had my 6 week follow up and told I need to eat more
Hop_Scotch replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1200cals is a lot and more than most bariatics patients would eat at the point you are at, but perhaps you do need to a little more than 350 to 450 calories a day. Do you exercise at all? If you do you definitely need to eat some more than you are.
