    Burning Mouth Syndrome

May I ask if you have self diagnosed or if a doctor has diagnosed? Regardless of diagnosis, this page lists some treatment options https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/burning-mouth-syndrome/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350917
  2. Looking for something to treat yourself with? If you haven't already Moulin Rouge is an absolute must see. I saw it last week in Sydney (after a long wait beause of Melbourne show cancellations due to covid), it was phenomenal. The stage, the costumes, the songs, the music, the singing, the dancing, the can can, abolutely all of it. For the Australians who know Simon Bourke he played an excellent role. I could quite happily go see the show again, in fact I've already booked more tickets Other shows I am hope to see in the next next year: Hamilton and Come From Away. May be also Harry Potten and the Cursed Child (though this one is another victim of covid and had two lots of cancelled tickets, I think I've lost the inclination to see it). What have you seen lately or looking forward to seeing? PS not my photos as I don't have the right charger for my phone to connect to the laptop.

    Men are so frustrating!!!!

Has he been assessed for depression or other mental health issue? If its not a mental health issue, he has no motivation to change whatsover if what is happening in his life is working for him. He has no need for paid employment, he doesn't need to do anything at home because you'll do it eventually.
  5. MDT = multi - disciplinary team? Bariatric MTD perhaps mean you are to undertake some further actions with staff whose specialty is bariatric services? Doesn't sound like its all finished yet to me, but yes, its all guesses/speculation until you speak to the relevant person.

    3 months out

Well done, that equates to nearly 18lb a month which is pretty good, not slow at all, probably a high rate for that starting weight. Hair loss is quite common after weight loss surgery, you can read about it below. As long as you are reaching your nutritonal requirements it should be fine within three to six months (may be longer though). Some people use supplements for special shampoos/condiitoners. https://mercybariatrics.com.au/hair-loss-bariatric-surgery/#:~:text=The most common type of,percentage of hairs falling out.

    Chewing Gum

I think its because that by chewing the gum, your stomach thinks its getting food. It activates the digestive juices which includes stomach acid. You aren't going to be eating anything so the stomach acid may inflame the staple sites etc (immediately post op that is). The excess stomach acid may also cause issues with acid reflux and for some people excess stomach acid can seem like hunger. While chewing the gum you may also swallow some air which can make your stomach gassy and cause bloating. Sugar free gum sometimes has those sugar alcohols which can cause a lot of stomach discomfort if you have too much of them. I imagine various surgeons/clinics have different guidelines around gum and their own reasons for it. If you are aren't chewing too much of it and only occasionally you probably should be okay, but perhaps send off an email to the clinic as to their reasons and you can decide from there.

    Salty meals?

Some ideas here perhaps, but a lot depends on tolerance to certain foods at this stage, but if she can't tolerate now, she may in another week or so or even a month down the track. https://www.upmc.com/services/bariatrics/surgery-process/post-surgery/diet/pureed https://www.taylorbariatric.com/bariatric-surgery-guide/first-few-weeks-after-surgery/diet-stage-3-pureed-foods

3 months post VSG and NOTHING

Your profile doesn't show what your current weight is, only the weight you've lost. Knowing your current weight will give us some context to your post. You may be fairly close to a healthy weight and if that's the case weight loss will be lower slower now. I am assuming you've have dropped clothing sizes, but perhaps weight loss isn't being reflecting on the scales? If by working out you mean weights, any fat loss you may have had in the past few weeks may be masked by fluid retention.

    3 Month Stall?

It is common to stall at various stages, however, to know whether its a genuine stall or something you may or may not be doing is a different matter. What you haven't said is how long seen you've seen a loss on the scale? A week? A month? A few days? If its been longer than a few weeks - A starting point is to confirm whether a stall or something else...are you still following your post op guidelines regarding the foods you are eating and the volumes (or weights as provided in your guidelines)? Check that you are drinking plenty of fluids, getting some type of activity most days etc etc. Have you started any new medication that may increase fluid retention? Have you started to exercise or increased exercise intensity? Starting doing resistance / weighs training?

    SIPS Surgery

You may find some relevant postsin this forum https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1018-duodenal-switch-surgery-forum/, and some people who have posted there may respond to a private message. I googled and I can see that SIPS is also know as duodenal switch. https://www.nycbariatrics.com/weight-loss-surgery-options/sips-procedure "Also known as the Single-Anastomosis Duodenal Switch, this duodenal switch surgery (SIPS) delivers both stomach restriction and decreased absorption. "
  13. I live by myself and travelled for surgery. So I made sure before I left that I had some things at home that would do for the immediate post op phases so I wouldn't have to rely on anyone to do errands etc. I reviewed the guidelines provided to me by my surgeon's dietician and took a chance on what I thought I would be able to tolerate afer surgery and made sure I had that at home. What I hadn't planned on was covid. I missed a deadline to arrive back home in my home state and then had to quarantine for two weeks (back in March 2020). Thankfully I had a friend who was happy to do a shop run for some additional supplies. So have a contigency plan in case you need it. You will likely experience some pain and / or discomfort. If you know your pain / discomfort tolerance levels make sure you have supplies of the medications that will help as well as other things. Some people find that heat pads help with stomach cramps for instance. Read and re read your post op guidelines, don't be afraid to ask questions of your dietician or surgeon. Ask questions in these forums if you need to but do be mindful that your guidelines should likely take precedence in the immediate / initial phases until at least two or three months.

    Low weight loss

Your surgery day weight loss is fairly low and you lost a good amount before surgery. Your initial post op weight loss seems slower and lower because of this. That said, unless you have a weight of 400lb or 500lb post op weight loss will seem slow compared to those achieved on shows like My 600lb Life. You need to reset your expectations, your weight loss isn't low at all. It may not be more than some but it is more than others for the phase you are at for the weight that you started at. Unreasonable expectations will set you up for disappointment and possible self-sabotage.

    Doubting Whether I Should Proceed

What you achieve in pre-op is rarely sustainable in the long term without surgery, even with surgery, that much weight loss in that amount of time is only achieved by some those with very high weights...well over 400 or 500lbs. Only you can decide if you go ahead with surgery or not based on your personal circumstances. That said, I would always recommend questioning why those who are close who are against surgery as to their reasons. Its your health, its your body, its been your struggle (all those times you've attempted to lose weight and maintain the loss), etc etc. I didn't lose a lot of weight pre-op, I've lost more on other occasions, but I've never been able to sustain the weight loss or maintain without the surgery I eventually had. A question to you, without the pre-op diet you wouldn't have achieved the weight loss, but what have you done in the mean to make sure you can maintain it? What caused you to become overweight? What have you done or will you do to overcome what caused you to become overweight? This equally applies to having surgery or not? Being nervous or having seconds is quite common in the days and weeks leading to surgery, it may be useful for you to work out those feelings with a counsellor or therapist. You may decide to put your surgey on hold, you may not.

    1 month post op

I don't have anything to add from what has already been covered above, but did want to say if you've lost 35lb since surgery you are doing exceptionally well for your start weight all ready. And even if not since surgery you are still doing great!

    Eating ritz reduced fat crackers

Maybe talk to your nutritonist or dietician, but I have a feeling they coud be a bit of slider food, go down way too easy and not give you a sensation of feeling satisfied or full.

    Always Hungry?

It may be hunger, but the growling and rumbling stomach could be due to the VSG, a lot of people experience growling and rumbling following a VSG. Are you still on any stomach acid reducing medication? If its not genuine hunger it could be acid reflux or something similar that is mimicing hunger. If no on any medication, speak to your surgeon about the issue or perhaps try an over the counter product like nexium.

    Day 14 ESG

Did the doctor who did the ESG give you the go ahead for heavy weights? ESG anchors and sutures until they heal (and possibly scar) are a bit precarious. I know all doctors/surgeons have their own protocol, mine was don't lift anything heavier than a stand chair for a month so as to allow the stomach to heal from the anchors and sutures. If you haven't got the go ahead for heavy weights from the doctor who did the ESG, please check in with them before doing any more sessions. I've seen a lot of failed ESGs (mine being one) and they fail for many different reasons.

WHAT does religion have to do with me having surgery??????

Someone with a PhD? We often joke with my brother who has a PhD that he may be intelligent but he certainly doesn't have any common sense

    Just one cup of tea?

Your pre-op guidelines don't allow you to have caffeine? If that's the case, why not have a decaf tea or a herbal tea? You would have gone through the caffeine withdrawals/headaches by now, have caffeinated tea now may (or may) cause you to crave more and then you'd have to go through the withdrawal again. In any event, why not have a quick chat with your dietician or nutritionist (or doctor) as to going without caffeine at this stage is important or if in fact one or two drinks won't hurt.

    Unhappy

If you haven't already you may want to consider taking to a counseller or a therapist, this sounds like something that may fester within you and may cause you to sabotage yourself.

WHAT does religion have to do with me having surgery??????

I am sure you will find there are plenty of people who do not have any religious beliefs that think nobody should have weight loss surgery, they think people should have the fortitude and willpower to do it 'the hard way' - Just eat less, just exercise, just say no, just trust the science of calories in calories out.......etc etc This is why what I do with my body is my business, no one elses. This is why I don't tell people about my personal / medical business.

    9 days post-op

At your surgery date weight, those are high expectations. Certainly puts the pressure on you particularly given a lot of people experience a stall 3 or 4 weeks post op.. You are doing great as you are and don't let your doctor tell you otherwise.

    9 days post-op

At your surgery day weight, that isn't slow at all. Why did you think it would be faster? Your own expectations or someone else?
