    Not losing weight

Your starting weight was 189lb, its a fairly low start weight, 9lb is excellent for that, low start weight is going to have lower and slower weight loss even with weight loss surgery. You probably lost a few pounds in the pre-op stage as well. You are not going to lose the higher weight losses in the first months that you see from people whose starting weights are significantly higher. Nothing only about 9lb regardless of your start weight though, you are doing great.

Day 1 pre op liquid diet

Tomato soup is a probably a lot of natural sugars and carbs, which would likely cause a blood sugar dip unless there is some balance with protein. At this point each meal probably should have some protein to help keep you satisfied and balance out the blood sugars.

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

isolate until you get tested, only way to know, then you can isolate if positive and keep everyone one else safe and contact anyone you have been in contact with in the last seven to ten days so they can isolate and get tested too if necessary.

    Up All Night

I know not a lot of carbs, but maybe too many carbs for you with a bypass?

Nothing only about 18lb in two weeks.

    January 2021 sleeve

It may be off yours depending on your plan provided by your dietician or surgeon. Some like people to wean themselves off caffeine before surgery so that the shock isn't so bad (along with everything else to contend with) after surgery.
  7. How long before your surgery? I only saw my doctor once before my surgery day. I guess time will tell about after care but are there any reviews out there about your surgeon.?

    Dry Mouth

I have a permanent dry mouth due to an auto-immune issue, if your dry mouth continues you may your doctor to check for sjogren's syndrome. This is worth looking at https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dry-mouth/symptoms-causes/syc-20356048

    Feeling so hungry today

Are you on any medication to help with the heartburn/acid reflux? If not, talk to your surgeon as to what will be beneficial for you. Sometimes acid reflux can feel like hunger. You are on full liquids currently? What full liquids are on your food list?

    Too old for plastics?

38 isn't old at all, definitely not too old for surgery. I am almost 58 and am contemplating it.

    Mini bypass

Any other symptoms? Sore throat could just be a dry throat. Hopefully the throat will improve fairly quickly, but do be mindful of any other symptoms that may develop.

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

If it isn't mandated I would be using something else. I understand the need for revenue streams but not when there are much cheaper options and not at the patient's expense. I had a look at the Robard site and their weight loss management system is advertised as a profit stream for private practices. https://robard.com/ My dietician who was aligned with my surgeon provided my options for pre-op and none that needed to be purchased from either of them.

    Question on clear liquids

Is there any residue when made up? Are they clear to see through when made up? If it isn't clear on your pre-op guidelines that they are allowed or not may be worth a call to your surgeon's or dietician's office to clarify.

    Struggling to get Shakes In

Most people will have difficulty reaching targets in the first few weeks, and this continues on in the pureed and soft food stages until inflammation has reduced and your stomach is more or fully healed. You do the the best you can, and at this stage this is hydration and protein. Eventually you will find you can consume more and will be able to think beyond protein and fluids. I am not sure I could consume the same drink over two hours, the protein shake changes texture within 30 minutes or so, and its not really palatable. I use to make a 1/2 cup every few hours, but typically would consume only four or five per day, sometimes in the early stages I wouldn't finish the half cup.

    14 days after WLS

Don't have a lot of information about you, it would be helpful if you filled in your profile...hightest weight, surgery day weight, current weight, height...all this gives context to your post and helps us to tailor a response to you. So if I understand correctly its been about four days since you have lost scale weight, but in the 10 days before that you've lost 13lb??? That's great and above average for the stage you are at. There will be weight loss stalls along the way, one of the major ones is the three week stall (though for some this can happen before three weeks and for others well after). Please take the time to fill in your details.

    Post Sleeve Question

You are doing great so far. Stalls are very normal, google weight loss surgery three week stall, though yours is four weeks (the three week stall can become four or five week stall). Your body is taking time to adjust to the varous food stages plus the recent 'big' losses. You are doing great, keep doing what you are doing. Some stalls can last a few weeks, some are longer, some stalls are shorter. If yours lasts beyond a few weeks (and assuming you are following your post op guidelines), you may want to check in with your surgeon or dietician.

    January Crew

If you haven't found this already, there is a January 2021 thread here:
  19. To me pureed foods are more denser than liquids but as dense not soft foods, so are still fairly sloppy and smoothish without any lumps or bits of solids foods, however, some post op guidelines have foods at the puree stage that are different to this. Easiest/best way to do each of the food stages is to follow the guidelines of your surgeon or dietiician and eat the foods that are listed at each stages and prepare as directed.
  20. You don't mention band fills? How much fill do you have in the band? If the fill isn't limiting how much you can consume, does it need topping up?

Weight Loss Stalls almost 4 weeks post op

Patience is key. Stalls can last a while and for some they occur more than once or twice in the early stages. Lots of factors are at play here. Follow your post-ops guidelines, drink your fluids, be patient, exercise but don't overdo it to chase a loss on the scale. You must have seen a few non scale successes by now, remember to celebrate those.

    Feeling frustrated and sad

You lost a lot of weight in the couple of weeks before the surgery, that coupled with the IV fluids and inflammation will make for a fairly low or no weight loss in the first week or so. Just keep following your post op guidelines and keep up the fluids and it won't be too long before your efforts are reflected on the scales. Bearing in mind that at this point, scale weight is not as important as getting your fluids, protein and developing new habits that will help you achieve your goal.

    Poll

Nothing only about 17lb in the first month regardless of surgery day weight, but given your surgery day weight you have done exceptionally well. Perhaps time to reset your expectations, you have a lower starting weight you are not going to achieve the same weight loss as you see in reality shows or see in people who have a much higher surgery day weight.

    Puréed Meal Ideas

No meals as such, I just ate from my post op guidelines for the puree stage and that was protein/meal replacement shakes, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yoghurt, custard (though that was only once I found it too sweet), broths, non lumpy soups, refried beans, blended baked beans etc.

    Weight loss post op

Typical for who and there personal circumsances? Hasn't been two weeks yet so I would say 9lb is pretty good. Reset your expectations. First few weeks are a bit skewed...there is surgery weight (as in IV fluids and inflammation), weight loss from pre op diet (and if a lot lost then don't expect to lose a lot in the first few weeks post op), body getting use to the various post op food stages, surgery day weight, gender, incidental activity levels, hydration/dehydration levels. If you are going to stick around, it would be helpful if you filled in your profile, weight, height etc, it gives context to any questions and helps frame responses. It is difficult at this stage to meet goals, a calorie goal is probably even more difficult. Focus on water, protein (very helpful for healing/recovery from surgery as well as helping feel satisfied), volumes etc. What calorie goal has been set for you at this stage of your post op progress?
