Hunger and working out
SleevieInNewJersey replied to elmatador's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17m post-op so I am in a similar place. Hate to break this to you but if you are working out your body is going to need food to repair. I lift 4x a week and cardio 5-7x a week. I focus very hard on my macros and make sure I get those macros from clean wholesome foods. On days that I lift I add carbs. Carbs are 100% needed to grow, don't be afraid to fuel the body! Rice, Potatoes, Oats etc... Avoid the junk (sugar carbs) though! Eat clean bro and you will get there. Days that I lift I am eating about 1800 - 2200 calories. I focus the carbs in the morning with protein and healthy fats through the day. Above all else, it takes work. Hard work. Don't forget.... Drink that water -
Motivation after the first year
SleevieInNewJersey replied to Bypass2018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally struggled around the same time in my journey. I knew I needed to start getting serious about exercise if I wanted to get more weight off. I got myself an apple watch and started activity sharing with my friends and chasing after the built in "awards". Well, i'm now down 180 lbs. and I attribute the last 50 or so to getting my ass to the gym and competing with my friends. -
Stall and gain
SleevieInNewJersey replied to Zjasso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be discouraged. We have all gone through the swings and plateaus. Remember your body can swing water weight 5-10lbs in either direction. Stick to the program and the weight will come off. Get that water in! -
I use Bumble too. I don't match all that often sadly. When I do match I rarely get the first message from the girl. Its like why even be on the app if you aren't going to message. Meh....

SleevieInNewJersey replied to Vivian1023's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone is a little different. When I was on liquids I had 4oz at a time. No reason to rush anything. Finish what you can. At your stage you're all about healing. Good Luck! -
Nervious about life after
SleevieInNewJersey replied to jyta's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Like many have said, Life isn't about food at all anymore. It's about living life and not worrying about every single little thing that we as morbidly obese worry about. -

Side Effects?
SleevieInNewJersey replied to bluehat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
9 days post op and had that for the first few days. It too will pass. NP at the Surgeons office said it could be gas combined with your new stomach spasming. -

Water pills
SleevieInNewJersey replied to beccaconaty87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been using triamterene-hctz for a long while now. At first I had some calf cramping, but adjusted by drinking more water. My friend who is Dr. of Pharmacy recommended switching out table salt for that pink all natural salt you can buy online (probably in stores too) as it has tons of trace minerals. Haven't had cramps ever since. The triamterene-hctz also slimmed my legs down from swelling. No real side effects to speak of now. Wouldn't worry about it at all. -
Scheduling pre-op diet visits UHC
SleevieInNewJersey posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have visit #4 coming up on Friday of my supervised 6 month diet (UHC provider). I have been very strict on going exactly one month apart. Each time has been on the 22nd or 23rd of the month. I may need to push this months visit to the 30th of the month. My visits have been, Dec 22, Jan 22, Feb 23... Will March 30 cause an issue in the connective monthly visits since its a week later than the previous visits. I guess I could call the insurance company, but would love to know any real world experiences. Thank you! -
I just pay my co-pay for my doctor visit. I notice she usually mixes up the reasons for my visit. Sometimes it says Hypertension, sometimes it says thyroid. These are all things I do currently deal with so its not necessarily untrue.

Timeline Pre-op Diet through surgery date
SleevieInNewJersey posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was wondering... This is more geared towards United Health Care patients and those required to follow the 6 month medically supervised diet for their insurance company. At what point will the surgeon's team submit for approval. Do they need to wait till you finish the 6 months? I swore I heard my coordinator say they will submit around the 4 month mark. If that is the case, if approved does that mean I might be able to have surgery sooner rather than later? Looking for real experiences. I know I can call my doctor's office and ask, but its very busy over there and would rather get some real world examples. Thanks! Rob
