Good Morning. I had my surgery on July 5 th. I am doing great. I suck on a sugarless popsicle right out of bed and then take my pill for nausea and an hour later the pill for heartburn and then just sail through the day. I think all 6 meetings with the Nutritionist was totally worth it. I feel very on top of all this.

HEATINGS PAD! A life saver!

Taylor....an old weight loss warrior here. I am 67 with a BMI of 33. I am getting a sleeve on Thursday, July 5 th. I have been diabetic for 10 years .... never weighted over 130 until menopause and diabetes. According to a seminar put on by Kaiser Permanente 85% of people who diet gain their weight back. Much higher rate of success with a sleeve and bypass. Remember....it is a “tool”. The one thing i would strongly suggest is to see a Bariactric Nutritionist .... I met with mine for 6 months prior to surgery. I feel I am totally ready, educated and prepared. Good Luck....and open your mind about Mexico...much success with their programs.

Finding the courage to get gastric sleeve done in Mexico with a BMI of 33
Golfgal51 replied to newlifeat41's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Did you do the six months of meetings with a Nutritionist first? Most challenges I read about , especially with self pay, had to do with not the same requirements that insurance companies require. Also, have you seen an Endroconogist? I gave myself an injection for six months with a drug called Saxenda. They have a Facebook page. I would sure try to make your existing situation work before I went for another procedure. -

Husband does not support my dream to have this surgery
Golfgal51 replied to Bobbie2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This would be in the back of my mind......Will he love and care for me in sickness and in health? With that attitude I would think not! Having the surgery will SAVE your health....not having will bring on disease caused by obesity. I would not keep him around long enough to find out! -

I have a great Nutritionist... She taught me a good healthy diet format. I do it by servings....Daily 5 Protein, 4 Veg, 4 starch, 3 Fruit, 2 Dairy and 2 Fat ......i List everything I eat ina chart form... Bk. 1/2 cup special K = 1 (3 Carbs) 1 cup milk = 1 (1 Dairy) 1/2 banana = 1 (1 Fruit) lunch 1 cup salad. 1 (3 Veg) 5 crackers. 1 (2 carbs) 2 oz turkey 2 (3 protein) Each number in parentheses tells me how many more servings I have for the day....keeps me on track for 1000 calories a day -
Today was my first class. My husband, my biggest support for 45 years went with me. The presentation covered the types of surgery, the nutritional needs and the behavior health issues. I felt good about all the info until the surgeon that said I may never eat ice cream again! Kaiser Permanente is very good. It will take 6 to 8 months of pre suegery work before I finally get the sleeve. I have my first nutrition appointment next Tuesday and have my mental workup tomorrow morning. I was a little freaked out about the # of calories you will live on.....I still wonder where you get energy from ? Things to ask The nutritionist. Later friends

Just found out I have sleep apnea and can't adjust to CPAP Machine
Golfgal51 replied to comtngirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope you have gotten your issues fix with your mask. It took me saveral masks before I found the right one. A full mask reduces the feeling of the blowing air in your nose. Can your therapist read your daily results through MyAir ..... this app is a life saver because it can make them and you aware of problems...good luck! -

Just found out I have sleep apnea and can't adjust to CPAP Machine

Hi Comtngirl! I am using Kaiser Atlanta. I just started the process. Ignore my profile that says I had the surgery in 4/17.....I am anticipating it will be 4/18. I was tested and given the cpap through Kaiser. I have tried several masks, the nose pillow did not work for me. I also have the one that does not cover the bridge of my nose and I love it. I sleep so much better now. Through an app called Myair the therapist can track my sleep success. I had trouble at first but she upped the air pressure and now it is great. Good Luck -
I owned my own company for 25 years and then sold it and retired early. A friend had a project in Kansas that was in trouble and ask me to help .... I live in Georgia but traveled there to see what I could do. I ended up actually living there for 3 years.....we saved the company but my hair fell out big time. After I came home it got better but then my daughter got married .... the year of wedding planning again made my hair fall out. This time I started using Biotin....my hair is now doing great.....I am just starting the Gastric Sleeve process .... here we go again!
