  1. You can likely expect the days of losing a pound a day are over now that your BMI is under 40. If you are losing 3-4 pounds a week that’s a pretty great loss rate, and it will considerably slow down from there as you continue to lose. My last follow up at nine months my surgeon was thrilled with 29 pounds in three months. Congratulations on your success so far! Do not be discouraged when your loss slows, it is completely normal! Just stay on task!

    Please help!

    I agree with Fluffy. If you are drinking wine and eating potatoes and rice you are actually eating a lot of calories for non nutrient dense foods. Change your diet to lean proteins with vegetables and you will see better results. You can do this!
  3. This is more dependent upon your insurance carrier, not state. May appointment with surgeon, December surgery.

    In a month I only lost 6lbs :’(

    Many times the less you have to lose, the slower it starts to come off as well. If you stay consistent the weight seems to come off, it is just not as fast as we want it to.
  5. Here’s a good post to read from the gastric bypass forum....

    How awful to lose such a loved one so unexpectedly and tragically at such a young age. Prayers for you and and your family @proud grammy. 😞

    Walking = Nausea

    Make sure you are well hydrated, but yes I would seek help from a physician. If you are only nauseated with activity, it seems strange to me.
  9. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing!

    Walking = Nausea

    If it is the activity making you nauseated, no it does not seem normal to me. Just my opinion but I have never become nauseous from walking.
  13. This is completely unreal but two days in a row now I have seen less than 200 pounds on the scale for the first time in over 15 years. I am a pound away from my first goal of 199 at 13.5 months post op. Time to set a new goal for the New Year!

    How do you end a stall?

    I usually just stay the course. If you are following your program and honestly not overeating it will end on its own, when your body is ready. This will not make you feel better but a week is nothing as far as stalls go. The body often needs time to recalibrate during periods of weight loss. You can fool around with eating a bit more or a bit less, change up the exercise, but in most cases it seems like it ends by just patience and pushing through. I too am not familiar with your dietary program but do consider that the more weight you lose, the less calories you will burn in a day. Lucky you though if you are able to keep losing on such a hearty calorie allowance. I hope it breaks for you soon. Be patient, which is easier said than done when it’s your stall I know!

    4 months out and FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

    I can give you a vague menu. For breakfast I usually eat eggs and maybe some chicken sausage. Sometimes one of those prepared mini omelettes. On a rare occasion I have low sugar oatmeal. Calories are usually 250. For dinner I usually eat a meal of chicken, pork, fish, or some type of soup that is high in protein. Calories are usually 250-300. I normally eat snacks of Greek yogurt , certain protein bars, maybe some pistachios, cottage cheese, or lunch meat. I average 800-900 calories a day but I try to eat more on days I’m in the gym or more active. It is tough as I miss some vegetables and need to find more balance of working them in but I just cannot eat a lot. I get about 75 grams of protein and less than 50 grams of carbs a day currently.

    Chewable Multi Vites - thoughts?

    I have been taking the Celebrate Chewables with 36 of iron in two pills for about a year. I never have had an issue but I seem to have a strong stomach. I don’t enjoy them, but I don’t find them intolerable. You may want to add sublingual B12.

    Sadness

    Try to focus on the now. Worrying and fretting about something like plastics when you are not at goal may just stress you and depress you further. Most people recommend being at a stable weight for about a year before doing plastic surgery. Is there a Bariatric support group near you that you could visit in person since you seem to have no real life support system?

    An honest update. Weight Gain

    I just wanted to say thank you for sharing. I hope your next update finds you more at peace with yourself and perhaps ready to make further changes to change your health towards the better. Obesity is a difficult disease to treat.

    Smooth Moves

    If you are that constipated try taking a dose of miralax everyday until you start having more frequent movements. Once you are going every day or every other day then reduce the dose to every other day and see how you fare. Your body can become dependent upon stimulant laxatives. 8-14 days is not normal to go without having a bowel movement. Discuss a bowel regimen with your surgeon or doctor if you are now chronically constipated as this issue is not unique to you. Many of us have this issue post op.

    Sleeve or mini gastric bypass

    I determined which surgery I received after doing my research and discussing with the surgeon what my goals are and what my history is.
  22. KimTriesRNY

    A little TMI

    Try a fleets or suppository if it is right there. You may need to take some softeners or Miralax if the issue continues. Definitely discuss with your physician.

    Day 3 RNY Post Op

    Congratulations! Glad you are doing well!
  24. If the person next to you is a bariatric surgery and vomits, they aren’t likely to be vomiting anything with an odor after weeks of a pre op diet and then being nothing by mouth before surgery. I wouldn’t worry so much.

    Cheating

    Define cheating. We are all human. If you think because you had weight loss surgery you will never have a piece of pizza again, or a potato chip, or a slice of cake, the only person you are fooling is yourself.
