3 days out and hurting ?

I had pain at three days post op. I still have a small area of discomfort after two weeks where my largest incision is. Are you taking a med for the reflux?

    Hunger...

I’m two weeks post op bypass and I get hungry. Some posts say it’s normal to not be hungry for months. I think we are all individuals, some of us will be hungry earlier than others.

    Weight loss depression

Also you are a lower weight, you will not lose as quickly as someone 250 plus pounds. You will get there. It is hard for us to be patient I know. I was upset I only lost 14 pounds in two weeks but when is the last time that has happened? Yeah, never.

    Have you ever cheated?

Now isn’t the time to plan how to cheat. Plan how you will overcome your feelings of wanting to cheat. Remember why you started this. You don’t want to get to the table and not be able to have the operation. Many here have gone through liquid diet and not cheated, and I’m sure many have cheated. It depends what you are willing to gamble.

    Serious COLD FEET!!!!!

Ok. I will give it a go. Write down a list of all the things you cannot do now that bettering your health through this surgery will give you the freedom to do. Maybe this will help remind you of why you are doing this, why you started the whole process to begin with. I am post op day 14. I remember being nervous the night before, but once I got to the hospital back in the pre surgery area I felt much better. I think you will too. Tonight, do not read about negative outcomes. Try cruising Instagram or YouTube for some weight loss success stories instead. Best wishes to you.

    Down 62 lbs

I feel like the place we want the weight to come off of is the last place it actually comes off of. That’s how it’s always been for me. I am sure you look much different and congratulations on your progress!

    Surgery was March 2014

What does your diet consist of?
  10. I had five as well. The location may vary a slight bit based upon your own body shape and your surgeon’s preference.

    -136 pounds

You look great! Congratulations and I hope you feel as amazing as you look!
  12. So it seems you are on target for your surgeons goal at the 3 month check up. Congratulations. 5 pounds a week average is a huge loss. That is almost a pound a day. Enjoy it. You have youth on your side and are losing quickly.

    December Surgery Dates

I’m doing pretty darn good. Everyday I’m more back to normal. I sleep more at night but the daytime napping is resolved. I don’t have anymore pain, just a small area of discomfort. Im on full liquids and moving to purée on Monday with my first surgeon appt on the 20th for follow up. I believe I will be down 20 pounds by then lol.

    December Surgery Dates

Good luck! Let us know the outcome of course!
  17. I agree that the most dangerous thing at this time is a blood clot. I see a lot of ppl admitted into the hospital around the holidays with blood clots due to travel. They fly, or drive, and end up with one without having surgery. Its not something I would chance so soon post op honestly.

    Thanking Nurses

As a nurse, this. A well thought out letter sent with a food tray for their unit is always appreciated. We have people bring us donuts, cookies, candy, even pizza as a thank you. Can’t go wrong with a nice letter and some food!

    Surgery and period ugggh

I too was on my cycle the day of surgery. Take the tampon out right before you go in to surgery. The nurses will have dealt with this numerous times as you can see by the posts! I had a hard time bending after surgery but take your own pads and stuff to the hospital. You can’t wear your stuff during surgery, but you’ll have it when finished. Look on the bright side, you’ll have good meds and after surgery you’ll have about four weeks to heal before dealing with it again!

    Full Liquids/ What is normal?

Thank you for the responses...I was getting worried!
  21. Ok. I’m post op day 9 on the second stage of bariatric post op diet...full liquids. I can eat 8 oz of cream soup or tomato soup, albeit slowly, without issue. Is this normal? How much could you guys eat post op on these full liquids? Is my pouch too big?

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

Personally I think it’s unrealistic to lose 17 pounds in the time you have left if it’s taken you five months to lose 8 pounds. Have you had any lab Work? Consider asking for thyroid labs. I was having a horrible time losing weight and it was because I was hypothyroid. I was also vitamin D deficient and vitamin b12 deficient. I would consider upping calories to 1200 though if you are pre op. Especially if you exercise you may be undereating.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

Please keep in mind BOTH surgeries have low complication rates if you are thinking of leaks or surgery specific type complications. There are common risks to any procedure performed under anesthesia such as a blood clot, pneumonia, reactions to anesthesia, etc.
