Problem with too much weight loss?!

Anyone losing almost 300 pounds is gonna have a jiggly bit somewhere....
  2. I drink propel when I get sick of regular water. Nestle makes a lightly flavored water as well that I like for a change.

8 months post op feel like failure

Many of us have issues with using food for comfort or dealing with emotional issues as a contributing factor that led to our obesity. Part of this process really needs to be finding another way to handle emotions without turning to food. Whether we are eating out of stress, boredom, loneliness, depression, anxiety, etc. these things need to be figured out and dealt with or those of us with these issues run the risk of reverting back to these habits post surgery. If this is happening to you, why not consider keeping a food diary? Write down the food you are craving but also how you are feeling and what you are doing when these cravings occur. I also think if you are to the point of chewing food and spitting it out that you should seek therapy. I mean no harm by this statement but it seems a red flag to me as a behavior. We are all fighting this fight together, so keep on fighting for your health. You are worth it and you deserve to be happy with yourself.

    Protein Shakes

    Thanks for sharing!
  5. Ugh. I dread going back to work. I will have been gone six weeks and thankfully I’m tall so my 50 pounds looks like other people’s 20 pounds but I know it’s noticeable. I was trying on my scrubs the other day and I refuse to go back wearing new scrubs and minus 60 pounds. Not sure what I will say.

    Struggling with aversion

I’m not sure where the dehydration equals aversion to protein? Were you vomiting from the protein drinks? Is that what caused the aversion? More information may be needed to get you useful help. That being said you may just need to keep sampling products until you find high protein items that you are able to tolerate that fit in with your diet. It is definitely a trial and error process and some people seem to struggle more with this, especially soon after surgery. It does get better and hopefully someone will come along that is more helpful! I hope you feel better soon and are able to eat healthfully!

Change to type of surgery in surgey

They will perform a sleeve if bypass is physically not possible due to your unique circumstances. If a consent is not signed beforehand they would have to close you up with no bypass or sleeve. A consent tries to cover every worst case scenario that may be known, barring any emergency of course. My surgery was moved forward five days. I was warned I may have to have sleeve depending on how my liver was because my liquid diet phase was shortened but everything was ok. It’s a hope for the best but prepare for the worst situation in a way. Either surgery was preferable to neither at my weight.

Unfortunately this surgery does not reroute our thinking. Most of us have problems with our eating habits that led us to be obese in the first place. Along with our diets, we have to do some work to address those problems too. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you aren’t a failure. You might try to understand what is driving you to eat these foods. Try healthier versions of your favorite foods. You can make healthy burgers and burritos if you cook them and control what goes in them! It’s such a long road to get these surgeries, don’t let your hard work go to waste! You can do this we are here to support you and I’m sure there is a support group near you in person as well!

Left abdomen pain 4 weeks out

I had this. My pain had pretty well resolved and then around the four week mark this started. I did some research online and it seemed a lot of ppl experienced similar pain that could be related to muscles/nerves. It was a burning and tearing pain deep under my largest incision, for me on the right. This lasted about ten days and is now resolved thank goodness.

    Severely Constipated.

I’ve been taking 200mg colace in the morning and 200mg at night. I have this problem too. It’s a softener not a laxative so if your issue is the stool is really hard maybe this will help.
  11. My surgery was on 12/2/17, so over a month out for me. I am doing very well, thank you for asking! I have followed my surgeon’s diet progression to the letter for the most part and I have tolerated all foods so far which is great. I do have struggles meeting hydration goals and I did develop a bit of an aversion to the protein shakes so I get around 50-60 grams of protein on good days. It is so much better now than 3 or 4 weeks ago so hang in there!
  12. I haven’t heard of it but it sounds like a blast. And why the hell not! I’d go!

    Stalled weight loss

I’m in a stall right now too. I’m just keeping with the program and having faith in the process. I’m sure my body needs time to adjust. It’s so hard to be patient. I feel you.

    Gastritis and RnY

I had a bit of gastritis. Still had my surgery. I’m more curious how many people don’t have gastritis..... I work in a hospital. Every patient I’ve ever had has gastritis it seems. They may put you on a PPI before surgery. I think you’ll be fine. Can’t see them cancelling for something so common.
  15. You look amazing and also years younger! You must feel so much better now! Best of luck to you....may you continue to inspire us and also reach your goals this year!

    Down 130+ lbs With pics

This is incredible! You look so radiant and beautiful! Congratulations!
  17. My surgeon used glue as well. Some came off after 10 days and I had one incision the glue stayed on for two weeks. You’ll be ok, just observe for infection with your history of MRSA.

    Afraid to eat

Follow the guidelines given by your surgeon, chew well, and take small bites. You must eat. I’m just about 5 weeks out and have not been ill once.
  19. How fantastic! Your torso is really shrinking fast! Great job!

What couldn't you be without now?

A package of plastic spoons came in handy. I use my nutri ninja all the time as well. I also bought a lot of smaller plastic containers that have been useful.

    Salads?

I am going to be able to have salads starting Monday. My surgery was 12/02/17. Can’t wait.

    What to use besides Advil

I’ve been an ibuprofen user my whole life. I had to switch after my bypass. I take the liquid Tylenol if something is really hurting, like cramps or a headache. It has been an adjustment for sure.

where did you lose the weight?

Yes I think we are all different. I lose from the top down and my butt and legs are last to give it up. Eventually it will come off of where you want!
