Your feet may very well change in size. As a person working on their feet 12 hours a day, comfortable feet and shoes are important to me. I wouldn’t wait months and months to buy a new pair of shoes. If you are three months out from surgery it could be 9-10 months before you see a need for a change in shoe size. Not sure what type of shoes you need that are too expensive to put off buying for that long.

I’m so sorry that this happened to you. It must have been so disorienting and disappointing to wake up and not have your procedure completed. Hopefully the above poster is correct and your payment can mostly be salvaged. I hope everything works out for you and keep us posted.

Surgery for someone younger than 21?
KimTriesRNY replied to GBori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unless you have what the insurance company deems a serious comorbid health issue along with obesity, your BMI is likely not high enough to qualify you. Diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, these are often comorbid conditions that are needed for approval at a BMI of 35. Unless your back pain is really well documented as being due to your weight, and not your breasts, it’s not going to help you qualify in my opinion. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. -
5 days post-op (No dumping, no vomiting) an I missing a signal?
KimTriesRNY replied to JessiG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never vomited. I have never dumped. I did have a few episodes with foods that didn’t sit well. When this happens it feels like I’m having a heart attack. Once it happened with diced ham. Once it happened with this protein cake thing I ordered from here. I ate two bites, felt like I swallowed a basketball. When it happens, you’ll know. I had a strong stomach before my surgery so I’m not shocked by my lack of nausea, vomiting, or other things some people experience. -
These stalls are no joke!
KimTriesRNY replied to Bryn910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m hopeful after 4 weeks that mine is broken. I’m down 3 pounds but waiting 2 days for confirmation. Congrats I know how aggravating it is. I had been losing pretty steady and this was my first major stall over 1 week since my surgery. Very discouraging to experience. -
Vitamin Patches - Can we trust them?
KimTriesRNY replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I of course agree not enough research exists out there LONG TERM to back up the use of the vitamin patches. A four month post-bypass lab draw is not enough time to say they are working. I had read about a clinical trial on these patches I think in 2016 or the very beginning of 2017 and there is no published data from that I have been able to find. So that can tell you how long testing needs to be done for. It is much easier to prevent a deficiency than correct one, so keep that in mind. We all wish there was an easier way but why is there no long term vet than can speak to the efficacy of these patches? Likely because they don’t use them and right now, there is a reason for that. -
Should weight matter in a relationship?
KimTriesRNY replied to Numbheart's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think sometimes what happens is you lose attraction for the other person. If you meet someone and fall in love with them, and gain 150 pounds during the course of the relationship, it may change your willingness to do things like travel, and do activities you used to do as a couple. Even if someone loves you it may be a bit naive to think they will remain physically attracted to you through all of that. The opposite is often true as we see on here. One person gets healthy and then the relationship falls apart. It goes both ways. -
Pain Meds for Post OP

I was prescribed a pill I had to crush. It was disgusting. -
I do find I am able to eat more soup and say salad rather than a denser start of 4 oz of just protein. If I eat 4 oz of meat I will be full but I am always able to eat more than 4oz of chili or soup. I don’t stress over it as I make my own soups and they are high in protein and low in carbs. I don’t stress over eating more salad because sometimes my body needs the vegetables and I get sick of meat all the time.

Stalls are normal. They are a normal part of weight loss. There is much more to losing weight than calories burned minus calories eaten, and this has been proven. No ones basal metabolic rate is below 800 calories a day as a normal adult with a normal muscle mass. I have been stalled for a month myself, and it is extremely frustrating. All you can do is keep following your plan and trust in the process. I know this is easier said than done when you are the one in a stall. It can be so hard to stay positive. Hope it breaks soon for you, just know you aren’t alone.

Does Having Bigger Boobs Can Save My Relationship?
KimTriesRNY replied to Numbheart's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Does he know this bothers you? Why is he mentioning this in front of you in the first place? I think it’s inappropriate and a deliberate way to undermine your self esteem, especially if you have lost weight and are feeling better about yourself he may be becoming more insecure in the relationship. If you mentioned how sexually attractive other men were because they had larger units, or were not going bald, or didn’t have chicken legs, or whatever his flaws are, I’m sure he wouldn’t enjoy it. I’d just start with letting him know to keep his hurtful comments to himself. If he doesn’t care if he is hurting your feelings, he’s not that great a husband anyways. I would certainly never consider having breast augmentation to please someone else. All that matters is that YOU are happy with your body. -
Yes I ordered them and tried them. I did not like them, they were very chalky and I hard time eating them. I use the bari melts calcium dissolving tablets currently.

I found a protein shake on Amazon that has 40 grams of protein in each carton
KimTriesRNY replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really don’t supplement much with shakes at this point as I am almost eight months post op. Those are almost 300 calories a piece! I would rather eat my food than drink it. I would be curious how they taste though. -

Not tolerating chewable vitamins
KimTriesRNY replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In your own words you are testing them out. Its been four months. That’s hardly long enough to declare something is working long term is the point. We can simply agree to disagree on this topic. -
Not tolerating chewable vitamins
KimTriesRNY replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are four months out from bypass surgery. Some deficiencies can and do take years to develop as our bodies do have natural reserves of vitamins and minerals and you are not unique in this aspect. I am not trying to be argumentative but saying something is working after four months is misleading. Get back to us in 3 years or so and then the proof will be in the pudding. -

Not tolerating chewable vitamins
KimTriesRNY replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just be on notice some vitamin deficiencies can take a few years to develop and you are only a few months out from bypass. A huge reason patches are not recommended is lack of evidence of efficacy. The weight of a vitamin patch is far less than the weight of the vitamins and minerals they are stating are on the patch. There does seem to be evidence that the molecules of these vitamins and minerals may be too large to be passed through the skin transdermally. It will be interesting to see if these patches actually do work. I do not enjoy my vitamins either and would like to switch to the patches but was advised by my surgical team not to. -
Out of pocket, with insurance, I paid about 3k for my surgery. You are getting a bargain for any price listed there in my opinion for surgery in the States.

Last minute jitters
KimTriesRNY replied to AshMarie794's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do the thoughts of the health risks of staying obese bother you? I would rather be a thin size 10 with loose skin here or there than an obese size 20. Health should trump vanity. -
