I’m not sure why you quoted me quoting someone else’s question in your original response but thank you for sharing.

    Checking in after August by-pass

Sounds like you are making good progress! Keep up the good work!
  3. Crohn’s can be such a debilitating disease. I hope everything goes well for you with your surgeries on the 6th.

    SMH

Many times when people come on here to post, especially to post questions about eating things before they should, I.e. advancing diet stages early, eating pizza or carbs, drinking alcohol, it is not that they are underprepared. They are seeking validation or at least trying to find others that have done the same without experiencing a negative outcome. I was given clear instructions on diet progression, what vitamins to take, foods to avoid, and even rate of weight loss to expect. Maybe there are a few programs out there with less preparation but most seem to have a 3-6 month prep time. This is just my experience from being here.

    Surgery today!!!

It’s normal to be a bit anxious. Stay away from anything negative on the internet. Focus on getting ready, make sure you are packed and ready to go. I looked at a lot of Instagram photos, before and after with no stories really to inspire me. Remember complications are rare. See you on the other side.

    Breakfast cereal

Yeah, I’ll pass on the cereal.

    I guess I’m regretting a little...

Reality is you are not going to lose a pound of weight a day for very long. Many times the regret comes from the realization that you are physically incapable of using food to cope with emotions now if you were an emotional eater. This is normal, it’s almost a grieving process and it will pass. I believe though, one thing you can expect is you will be more successful at losing weight than you ever have before. Six months from now you won’t believe your eyes I bet. Set realistic expectations and deal with the emotional stuff along the way and you will be fine.
  8. I’m already dreaming of chopping these batwings off. You’re tummy looks great. Congratulations.
  9. I started taking Miralax every other day. It has helped me as I had the same issue.

GERD but want to have sleeve

Well there are thousands of people that have RNY without incident. It is certainly worth giving it serious consideration if your only reservation is from a few people considering the long term success of many. Was it a surgeon issue? Your answers are a bit vague.

TIPS to get back on track!

I don’t know if this in the same vein or not but the other night I was going through my closet. I had saved my largest favorite outfit from my highest weight. I put it on. I couldn’t believe the difference. It really showed me how far I had come, what I was capable of achieving, and that if I keep working I will reach my goals.

GERD but want to have sleeve

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Many on here have needed revisions due to reflux. If you already have GERD I would strongly reconsider just starting with the RNY. Why go through two surgeries? What are your reservations?

    I can’t date overweight people

The point I was trying to make is if you look at someone and they are a bit overweight and you decide based off of that, that they are living an unhealthy lifestyle filled with junk food and a sedentary lifestyle then I’m sorry but you are making assumptions about people based solely off of looks that may be incorrect. It is the same as assuming that because a woman is thin she must eat healthy and exercise...sorry but it’s not true. I am not encouraging anyone to seek out morbidly obese people to date if that’s not their thing but just trying to state that assuming things about ppl based off of snap judgements could be a mistake.

    I shaved my head...

Cute as a button! Hopefully it has good regrowth but at least you can rock it in the meantime! Congratulations on your success thus far!

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

It is tough, especially if you are at or near a weight that is your heaviest in your life. I focused on watching positive videos on YouTube of people that were successful with their weight loss. I cruised Instagram and looked at people that had lost large amounts of weight there. Lots of people looked like me, normal people with jobs, without personal trainers and personal chefs. If they can do it, so can I, so can you, and so can anyone else here. I stayed away from any post on here with any negative heading. As far as being ashamed, that is always there in the background with a bit of regret that I ever let things get so far out of control. But I can’t change the past. I try not to dwell on it because it doesn’t help anything anyways. I try to focus on living healthier every day now, and it is working. Good luck with your surgery.

    I can’t date overweight people

My only question is if you rule someone out based upon weight alone how do you know this isn’t something they are actively working on? Are you saying you would never date someone that has had the same issue as you did? There are women that may be actively losing weight that aren’t going to share this with someone right out of the gate. For me it’s like saying I would never date a short man or a man that was losing some hair. I’ve learned basing attraction solely off of looks does rule out some prospects for no reason, but some of this comes with age and experience. Things like intelligence, a great sense of humor, integrity, manners, and the like are more things I look for now. Not saying you should be with someone you aren’t attracted to, but sometimes just because you don’t feel overwhelming lust for someone at first sight doesn’t mean they aren’t worth a look.

    Being "Fat" vs loose skin

Skin can be hidden while you save up the money for plastic surgery if that is your desire. Staying obese has more detrimental health effects than loose tidbits. I have lost 146 pounds. I have about 38 left to make my initial goal and my primary doctors goal weight for me. There are some loose skin spots, but I in no way regret losing weight whatsoever. Once I maintain my weight and am stable for a year, I will address the areas of most concern as I see fit. You will feel worse if you gain back up to 370 than having some loose skin.

    This is it!

Glad to hear you are slowly improving. It does get better bit by bit every day and before you know it six months will have flown by!
  20. I’ve donated five bags so far. It can be tough. Just do it. You don’t need them and you need the room for your new smaller clothes.

Am I weird or is it just me

I never experienced trouble with nausea, vomiting, or food rejection either and I do indeed feel blessed about it and you should too! I have trouble with bread items but this is normal. One thing I try to do instead of comparing my progress to others, is compare my progress now to my past weight loss attempts. I’m doing pretty darn well comparing apples to apples if you catch my drift. If you are like me, and have over 150 pounds to lose, it’s a marathon not a sprint so don’t get too impatient. If you follow your program, you will achieve results!

Who to tell, what to tell them

Why do you have to tell her though? Only tell those that need to know...spouse, significant other...maybe a trusted best friend if they will be helping you after surgery. Anyone that is not going to be supportive or will not be involved in your aftercare or is not living with you does not need to know. The less that know the better in my opinion, just my experience.

    Starting out

I wouldn’t focus on a bunch of protein shakes right now. A regular sized stomach needs regular sized meals to feel satiated. Try to make some immediate easy changes first. If you are eating the following stop: fast food, pastries, sugary sodas or drinks, chips or other snack type foods. Once you have eliminated those foods move on to the next phase. Focus on a protein dense diet with lots of vegetables, some whole grains, fresh fruit, and dairy if tolerated. Incorporate a bit of activity into your day. Realistically if your diet has been unhealthy you don’t need to starve yourself to drop a few pounds before surgery. Following a reasonable diet without a bunch of processed garbage will net you reasonable results. If you are able to keep your carbs less than 100g a day, even better. If you keep the changes reasonable and sustainable you are more likely to stick with it during the pre op phase rather than rebelling and eating junk due to being deprived. Good luck!

    1st Stall - GRATITUDE POST!

I remember when I realized I could finally reach over and tie my shoes without getting so winded. Something so small but my stomach actually used to get in the way.
