  1. I found this interesting and had no idea... According to the FDA, a dietary supplement is a product that’s intended for ingestion (such as an oral multivitamin), meaning that transdermal patches technically cannot be labeled or marketed as supplements. And unlike new drugs (including medicinal transdermal patches), the FDA does not test supplements (including their transdermal patch equivalent) before they enter the market.- I found There are more and more studies being done. I would like to see a calcium one myself as that is the vitamin I have the most trouble getting in.

Large-capacity pouch 6 weeks post op

I’m over 9 months out and still weigh and measure my food.

Large-capacity pouch 6 weeks post op

If I eat salad it’s harder to measure as it’s usually when I go out. I posted a pic on the food before and after of a Panera salad I ate. I usually eat the protein parts of it with some lettuce and veg but always have a lot left. Soups or stews I can definitely eat one cup easily.

Well? Where are you? How are you doing? Did the surgery go through without a hitch? Inquiring minds want to know! Hope you are healing well and all went smoothly.

Large-capacity pouch 6 weeks post op

It’s 4 ounces of dense protein on a food scale measured in ounces. Chicken is 3-4 ounces. Salmon is 4-5 ounces. Pork is 3-4 ounces. Beef is 4 ounces. That is it. I have to weigh it out because I get hungry, I want to eat. If I don’t weigh it, I will fix too much and it just goes to waste. No room for veggies after that right now. If I want veggies I eat a salad.

I can definitely eat more soups, salads, and casserole type of dishes by volume. If I eat chicken, fish, or steak 4 ounces and I’m done. Definitely there are people with sleeves that cannot eat as much as I can. Everyone is unique!
  7. Don’t be sorry, I was just curious because I had never seen that one. My nine month post op is next week so it was interesting.
  8. So @FluffyChix is there a percentile chart for surgery patients with BMI over 50 at date of surgery?

    I don't understand!!!

Did? Did expect to be successful? You are only one month out from surgery. You will lose weight if you follow the program, do not let the scale dictate your mood or how you feel. If you cannot differentiate between a temporary gain and an actual gain then take a break from the scale. There will be times when you stall out, it is just part of the journey. I lost no weight almost the whole month of July, I understand how demoralizing it is, we all do. I know some people are huge advocates of drinking tons of water, but do your best. I’ve lost almost 150 pounds drinking what I can, some days 64 oz some days more. Some of us just can’t drink as much, just drink what you comfortably can. Through it all, stay positive! I know for an absolute fact if you stick to your program in six months you will not believe the changes you see and feel!

    I don't understand!!!

Keep in mind if your expectations are to maintain losing a pound a day then your expectations are too high and are unrealistic therefore setting yourself up for unnecessary feelings of failure. I easily gain three pounds during certain times of the month. Vigorous exercise or increased salt intake can help increase water retention as well. As long as your weight trends downwards over time, you are doing fine.

    128 lbs down

Incredible progress! Look at your neck!
  13. Congratulations on your success so far! I hope you continue to reach your goals!

    Body Countouring

I have seen reviews of this but mostly for women using on the face and neck area. Most people here that have lost large amounts of weight are going to have larger amounts of skin that a laser treatment is not likely to fix. If you look on sites like RealSelf.com you can find more reviews on this procedure.

How do people gain weight after Sleeve?

It is not only people that are sleeved that gain back weight. It is possible to gain back weight with any weight loss surgery. The same foods that slide through a sleeve can slide right through a bypass pouch too. It’s a common misconception that all gastric bypass patients experience dumping as well. Those that do dump may experience less dumping as time goes on, or it may disappear as a bypass matures. Evidence also suggests that gastric bypass patients experience less malabsorption the longer they are out from surgery. Our bodies are very good at trying to keep us obese. We see people on here that have been sleeved and bypassed with differing amounts of regain. Most people can avoid regain by sticking to the habits that helped them lose weight to begin with, the healthy diet and increased activity- regardless of the type of procedure.

    Over eating

I always cringe when people veer off topic and criticize other posts yet don’t seem to have anything to post that pertains to the original poster’s question. Nowhere did I suggest to this person that a diet high in animal protein is “the” super healthy thing. I suggested reducing some of the grains and starchy vegetables. Now did you have something constructive to add about the question the poster had about her diet or did you just post on here to criticize those of us that are trying to help?

    Over eating

If someone is eating meals with 6-9 grams of protein and over 20-30 plus grams of carbs the dominant macro is carbs no matter who is looking.

    surgeries

I do not know of any surgeons in the Villages that practice Bariatrics. Surgeons at Ocala Regional, West Marion, and Munroe Regional all in Ocala, Florida have bariatric programs. I do not know if Leesburg hospital has a bariatrics program. Naturally there are bariatric programs in Tampa, Orlando, and Gainesville.

    Over eating

Look at the photos you posted though. Almost every single one is full of carbs. Bread, crackers, lasagna, stuffing, peas...a lunch with 18g of sugar including raisins and an orange...all of those are carbs...

    Over eating

Seems carb heavy. Fruit or raisins for a snack would just make me want more carbs. Crackers and cheese for lunch, well there are just better options. Stick to the basics. Proteins like chicken, fish, lean meat. Eat it on some salad if you like. Carrot stuffing, potatoes, etc.....carb, carb, carb. It is just my opinion but I’d back down the carbs while you are still so soon out from surgery. You don’t need potatoes, or stuffing. You need protein, and non starchy veggies, maybe a few berries if room. Why not some Greek yogurt for a snack?
  22. I agree with what James said above. What/where is the article where you found the information? You state in extreme cases the bypass needs to be reversed. Why assume you would develop this, and further assume your case would be severe enough to warrant a reversal? Secondary to that, I don’t live my life by the what ifs.
