I'm way at the beginning of my wls quest. My doctor approved my request to be a wls candidate so I'm now waiting for instructions. This is all through Kaiser Northern California. I'm looking for people that have had their wls with Kaiser. What were the steps you took to get the ball rolling? Which wls did you have? I'd like to know what the preop is like. I'd like to find out which surgery you considered. Basically just on an information search while I'm waiting. Thank you in advance. Candy

@skykade When you went to orientation, were you weighed? I've been sick for 2 weeks with that awful cold that's been going and have lost around 15 pounds. I watched a YouTube video of a woman just back from her orientation at Kaiser Sacramento I think and she said they were weighed. My orientation is Tuesday so I'm going to call the center tomorrow and tell them the situation and ask if they weigh. I'm not freaking out anymore. It is what it is. Hi, all. Happy New Year! I'm a little unhappy right now. I'm, 5'6.75", was 220 lbs. So I'm a low BMI with masjid comorbidities. We'll, I've been bedridden with the flu for two weeks. Finally feeling better but when weighed yesterday, I was down 15 lbs! I have orientation on Tuesday at Kaiser So. San Francisco and am afraid of getting weighed and being rejected for the surgery. I thought it would be good to have a thread for the senior set to help encourage each other during our journey. I'll start: My name is Candy - I kid you not - and I'm 64. I have my orientation with Kaiser on 1/6/18 with a phone appointment with a surgeon the next week, 1/13/18. I'm very excited to start my wls journey. I'm 5'7", current weight 220, BMI 34.5. I have degenerative disc disease exacerbated by my weight. I also have GERD, general arthritis, costochondritis (inflammation of the rib joints in my chest), arthritis at the site of back surgery, Type 2 diabetes, peripheral neuropathy in my feet. There could be more but that's all I can think of at the moment. Let me know who you are and how old with all your stats. Maybe we can be a support group. Welcome! I'm going through Kaiser South San Francisco as well. I hasn't my orientation on January 9th. Is long was it from your orientation to surgery? I know there's different meeting and consults to go through so it could be different timing depending on when you get through all that. What support group are you going to?
