I'm sorry about your stepdad. Fingers crossed for your checkup. You look great by the way!

Yeah, mine has slowed a lot too. Still coming off, but very slowly and I have so far to go still that its kind of a bummer. Still, looking at the bright side, even at my current weight I feel a hell of a lot better than I did before surgery.

Congrats on 63 down! At my 3-month group appointment, my nutritionist told us to keep it below 1000 calories, but then told me separately I could go "a little over that" because I'm tall, but then refused to tell me what "a little over" means in terms of, you know, calories. I'm sometimes not sure even nutritionists know what's up sometimes. From what I've gathered on the internet, most doctors recommend somewhere between 900 and 1200 for the stage we're at right now.

    Omg! My stomach itches

Mine got super red and itchy. In my case it was an allergic reaction to the incision glue and Benadryl cream helped immensely. Ask your surgeon if you have any doubts though

My bariatric surgeon has a little shop in their office, and they sell these (albeit rebranded). I tried the chocolate ones. I found them very delicious, but not at all filling. Given that I can only eat 900 calories a day at the stage I'm at, it didn't make much sense for me to regularly eat a fifth of my daily calories on something that wasn't filling at all. I wound up giving them to my diabetic mom,who also absolutely loves them! If you have the willpower to make them a "sometimes" food, id recommend giving them a try.

My NUT definitely said 15 before and 15 after. It's crazy to me how much each doctor/NUT can differ even on the small stuff. I usually do 30/30 anyway, seems to be the prevailing wisdom.
  9. You look great my dude. Your hard work is paying off!

    6 month post op updates?

You look amazing! Glad to hear you're feeling better too.
  11. There was a woman in my preop class who didn't have to do liquid. She was much smaller than the other two of us, and had a different surgeon. Not sure what the reason was, but she came through her surgery just fine.

    Two-derland!

Congratulations Blue! As a fellow former 400-pounder I can only imagine how much better your joints and everything must be feeling in the 200s -- happy for you man. Keep killing it.

I lost a bunch of weight quickly for the first three weeks, then hit the three week stall everyone talks about on this forum. Stayed stalled for a week or two, then the weight loss started again. Now the weight loss is less dramatic if you look at it day by day (0.2 lbs here, 0.6 here, etc) but it helps to look at it week by week. For example I thought last week was pretty slow weight loss wise, but then I looked at my weekly view on MFP and realized I'd actually lost four and a half pounds in a week. I would have killed for that a few months ago!

    Congrats! That's awesome.
  15. Hi Cac! I took a 2.5 hour road trip for work almost exactly 2 weeks after surgery. I thought it would be no big deal because I love driving and my recovery has been insanely smooth and easy. It turned out to be pretty grueling and unpleasant actually -- just too much sitting up and having to concentrate that soon after surgery. Maybe you're tougher than I am though. I would suggest taking lots of water, planning lots of breaks if you can, and leaving yourself the flexibility to be able to reschedule your trip if your body's not up to it yet.
