  1. I have been evaluating which protein powders/convenience shakes to get today also. I was thinking of buying popcycle forms and using some healthy juices or pureed fruits to freeze instead of commercial ones. Think that would be ok? I bought some liquid vitamins, powdered "greens" to add water to, etc. Nothing like a frustrated creative foodie, eh? Hi to all, Sufina

    Was It Worth It?

Hi, I'm eager to get started, reading everything and wanting to get to know others of you. It sounds like there is a period following the lb surgery where not much weight loss occurs until the first or subsequent fills are started. Is this usually how it works? thanks, sufina
  3. Hi all, Well I thought I'd prepare for my big day on May 7 so went to costco for "supplies". I bought lots of stuff like liquid vitamins, Noni juice and other exotic antioxidents, a case of protein shakes, etc. When shopping at Crate & Barrel, I bypassed all the fancy kitchen gadgets, deciding the culinary arts are no longer going to be my passion; I shall switch to decorating! Just for info, I'm older than many of you (64), have sleep apnea and have a hiatial hernia that will have to be fixed. Hopefully all will go well - in Mexico. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Sufina

    OK Oregon, where are you?!?!?

hi everyone; I'm counting the days til my banding (5/7 in Tijuana, Mx), getting some supplies, reading up on your comments and feeling, oh so hopeful at the prospects. Remember, I'm hoping to connect up with any of you Oregonians as support system. thanks, sufina of portland.
  5. Hi, I'm new to this site and plan on going to mexico 5/7 for my lapband. I've been googling sites and am a little confused about what the differences are between support groups. Any suggestions? I'd like to find a "home" group. thanks, sufina

    Excited from Everett, WA

Hi guys, this is Sufina just checking in. Now that I'm scheduled for my banding on 5/7, my whole attitude has changed. I feel so happy and hopeful; I worked out at my health club with a smile on my face today and mostly I guess it's finally feeling that there is a solution. I had felt so depressed and hopeless for so long. It's good to have found a group of you folks who are really going to be very important to me. thanks, sufina

    Excited from Everett, WA

Hi, I'm needing some info. Are these posts so that we can ask questions of participants and get immediate responses or do we need to access a chat room or how does it work. I've posted several comments and feel pretty invisible as tho no one is reading them, yet I receive notices in my email that so and so is responding but I have yet to get one individual response to any of my posts. How does this work and who can help me with the technical aspects of this? I need to be able to have a support group that is workable and understandable to me,. thanks to any of you out there, sufina

I keep finding myself looking for comments from you guys; this could get to be very helpful to reach out to besides food. I'm also a "recovering" person and just switched my addiction to food so this feels like a good support tool. thanks, sufina:tt2:

My life changing experience at the PCP office

I would ask her if she yells at alcoholics for having their disease; trying to stop for a moment in time to lower risks during surgery has nothing to do with lifestyle change. If it were that easy, modern medicine should have come up with a cure for food addiction a long time ago. Makes me mad to think insurance co's are allowed to dictate how much out of control are bodies need to be in before they "grant" approval. Seems like the medical people ought to be dictating this decision. but don't get me started. personally, I'm going to pay out of pocket and go to Mexico for my banding next month. Wish me luck! 7 days into pre op diet

Wow to all you guys! I'm going to Mexico for my banding 5/7/08 and am reading up like mad how you all do it. i keep thinking about the new size small me in the future and then I think of pizza, lazagnia, ice cream etc. This is huge but maybe it gets easier once we get on the weight loss track and feel better/more energetic later...hopefully thoughts of food will diminish then.

    Depressing Dr appointment

I think it's all about rich insurance companies setting the standards for us to be so overweight before they will pay for it that we have seriously risked our health. Personally, I scraped together $8,000 and have booked an appt. with Dr. Ortiz in Mexico and I fly down there May 7. Why can't someone opt to have this done when they are 60 or 70 lbs overweight? Why weigh a ton and be almost dead to get it. It sure does suck!
