How has it been?

July 2nd!!!!
-
My auth is for June 28 to July 14th, but has not been approved yet. Ugh, I'm so tired of waiting. I've been working on this since October! I'm also to the point of tired of trying. Like my motivation is leaving. Haha. But I'm trying to hold on, I'm so close!

This may sound weird, but I always take my own pillow. When when I was had my baby, I took my own pillow. It helps me relax and sleep better. It'll smell like home. That's all I got, I'm still pre op haha. I'd love to know what people are saying to bring. Can you wear pjs?

Anyone else freaking out?
MissLindseyR replied to MissLindseyR's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh wow, congrats on having your surgery. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I've heard that you can lose your hunger for a while. Maybe during that time I can make sure to have other hobbies in place besides food. -
I haven't even scheduled my surgery yet, but I'm freaking out. My last apt is May 29th, then we submit to insurance. I've been on this journey since November but I'm just now freaking out. What if I can never have a fry again? Should I even care? Isn't that my problem? Can I still enjoy life without food? I go to food for such comfort and that's so wrong. I guess I'm worried I won't enjoy what I will be eating. Do any post op patients still enjoy food? Like for holidays, can you still eat just small amounts? Slightly freaking out over here!

What type of outlets do you use? I'm trying to find mine, I do have a tendency to eat when I'm bored. That's one of my biggest issues. -

Thank you very much! -
I can relate. I'm in my preop phase, about to submit to insurance in the next week. I almost have to obsess over it in order to stay on track. When I'm not focused on it, I go way over my calories and end up not getting enough protein. Falling off track is part of the process, everyone does it. Just dust yourself off and get back on the horse. It is ok. Since you have lost all your weight, maybe you should meet with your nutrition person and make sure you are getting everything your body needs. If not, it may crave foods that aren't as healthy as you may like. I hope this helps some. And enjoy your body at this stage. you've lost a lot of weight, find ways to make exercise fun even if it's walking a dog or doing cardio.

Good Morning!! I am in the last month of my 6 month supervised diet. I have lost about 23lbs, but it has been a very long and hard journey. I went out of town for a week for work and gained 10lbs! 10!! How crazy!! I'd like to work on getting even better at my nutrition. I have seen a lot of people do a Keto type diet after their surgery. I was wondering if anyone has done Keto and kept going through surgery. Has it helped? If so, what are your macros, any website info you can share, any recipes would be awesome as well!! Thank you

Amazing advice!! thank you, I'm going to check that book out!
-
Thank you! I didn't know they would do that. I will ask them!

Thank you! Do you know how many grams you eat of carbs, protein, and fat? Did you have a certain formula or website you used to find this out?

I need help, I do so great during the week, when I can control what I take to work and what we make for dinner. The weekends, however, kill me. I need to find control regarding this issue before surgery. My family likes to stay going, we go constantly on the weekends. With that being said, we eat out mainly just on weekends. I have a family of two girls, 2 and 9, and a husband who does not need to lose weight. It's not always fast food either, sometimes it could be at the mall or a sit down restaurant. How do I control my food? For a sit down, I understand I can order grilled chicken and such, but for fast food or fast casual, what do you do? Any tips? Should I not eat, is that weird? Do I eat half? Do I take a protein shake? I need tips, these weekends are killing my weight loss and I want to get it under control before surgery, but I don't want to tell my family we can't go somewhere because I can't control my eating or don't know what to order. HELP!

I was wondering about protein drinks, I drink premier protein and I live in the south, I wasn't sure if they would spoil or turn bad. The tuna is great idea though! I'm putting that on my grocery list. We have cliff bars, my girls love them, but they have a ton of carbs. Do you have any protein bars that you love and are good?

This is amazing and I'm stealing this list to start my own!!

Awesome, I'm going to check it out. We have a pizza meeting today, I've brought my bento box with tuna, strawberries, and an egg. I'm trying! My inner fat girl freaks out a lot haha. I've got this though. Thank you for your help!

That's great idea! Thanks!

Is that the name of the app you use? I use my fitness pal, but many times during the weekends, I am so over that I just almost give up on tracking during those times. You are right, this is a lifestyle change, it's very hard. I find myself creeping back to old ways as my surgery time gets closer. I think it's almost like I'm saying bye to food at times. Maybe I need to plan my food before we even leave the house, if we go out, check the website or app.

Mine is looking to be in June as well. I'm hoping for anytime after June 16th, this is what works best for my work schedule. This way I can concentrate on my health and not worry about work stuff as much while healing.

This is great to hear! Honestly I've noticed I enjoy foods I didn't before already even though I am preop.
