Holy crap! November already! Where did it all go? I have been banded just over six months now. I actually had my port replacement done on my 6 month anniversary. Fun, huh? Anyone have any special goals for the month?? My 4th wedding anniversary is at the end of November and hubby and I are thinking about maybe heading down to Santa Fe for a weekend. We'll see.... there never seems to be enough time for stuff like that. I would like to be down 23ish more pounds by the end of the year. That would put me at 210 and just inches away from onderland! Hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to hearing about how you are doing!

LOVE this! Sent it to my hubby and he put it on his myspace page.

I have a friend who's mom has been diagnosed (again) with cancer. She has been fighting it for the past 10ish years. She has been in remission for several years on and off and now has spots on her skin that are cancerous and spots on her liver. She has decided after 7 years of being on chemo on and off that she is done with it. She would rather have a great year and not be sick all the time that 3 more years of misery from the chemo. Does anyone know of any herbs or natural methods that might help make her more comfortable? I know there is a holistic doc around here somewhere on LBT.... hopefully she see's this! Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me! Peace.

Angela.... Thank you SO MUCH for responding! I don't know all the details of her condition but I am going to pass along your post to my friend. I hope that's okay if she emails you. I actually just set her up with my mom's massage therapist who also does Reiki and a bunch of other stuff. I had Reiki when I had my tonsils out and it was AMAZING!

Welcome mdicurn! There is always room for one more!

Here in CO medical marijuana is legal. My hubby has a friend who's wife has cancer and he has a card he carries in his wallet that says he can legally possess up to 3 ounces of pot. There are definite benefits to marijuana!

Ensure has too many calories for me. I prefer EAS Carb Control shakes.

It was the Campbell's Select kind in the little microwavable bowl. It is a 2 cup size and I bet I didn't eat 1/3 of it! My 4 year wedding anniversary is on Thursday. Hubby is taking me to the Melting Pot (a fondue place) for dinner. I figured it was a good mushy choice in case I'm having trouble with this fill. I guess those yummy steaks I have at home in the fridge are going to have to wait a couple of days!

Hello all! Sounds like everyone is doing great! Congrats on those that made their goals and good job to those who just missed them. Just think.... those are pounds you will never see again!! Woohoo! I just came back from a fill. Doc got the port on the first try and all the saline came back from my original fill so I'm back in business! This is my second official fill with this new port. He did my first fill of 1.5cc's in surgery and I am now up to 2cc's. I have been sitting here at my desk working on a cup of italian wedding Soup for 45 minutes now and only have about a third of it done. Yay for good restriction! My Christmas is goal is to lose another 10 pounds. That would put me at 220 or so. I would love to see onederland by the new year but I know that's just not realistic. That's okay though.... I'm sure I will see it before I know it! I've been meaning to post a new pic but I never seem to be lookin' hot enough when I think about taking one. My company xmas party is on the 9th so I'll be sure to get one then. Peace!

Hmmmm my wish list, eh? Here goes: I love candles! Just not flowery ones. Socks are always cool... I like funky ones. Just no toe socks, those are creepy! It's cold here in the winter so hats, scarves and gloves and stuff are always cool! My style is kinda retroish (if that makes sense!) I can't wait to get the name of my giftee.... bring on the shopping! I love these exchanges.

How much can you eat.....
DrewsLou replied to cher3150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat about a cup in a meal. Breakfast is kind of spotty.... I'm pretty tight in the morning, lunch is maybe a little less than a cup and dinner is usually a cup or a little more. I was reading on another board I belong to that someone was told they should not be able to eat more than 1/4 cup in a sitting. That doesn't sound like proper nutrition to me....but what do I know? :heh: -
Hey Heather! Your experience sounds horrible! Poor girl.... I hope you feel better soon!

I have never PB'd in the 6 months that I have had my band. I have great restriction now and I get "first bite syndrome" and have felt a little stuck if I eat too fast but I have learned to listen to those signs and SLOW DOWN.

Hoping to be banded in December. Anyone else have PCOS?
DrewsLou replied to pennywise's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pennywise..... I also have PCOS and started out at the same height and almost the EXACT same weight. I have lost 52 pounds since being banded in May. My periods returned to normal in July and have been like clockwork ever since. I saw my GYN a couple of months ago for an annual exam and she did an vaginal ultrasound and there were NO cysts on my ovaries! She even said I was ovulating at the time and I should have no trouble getting pregnant. I LOVE MY BAND! -
Go for it Chris! Your a super-inspirational-hottie-kinda-guy!

Do you exercise? Have you lost without it?
DrewsLou replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Geez.... I've been banded 6 months and just now broke the 52 pound barrier and I HAVE been excercising for the past 4 months at least! I guess having a leaking port and no restriction played a part in the slow loss. I am THRILLED with my loss so far! I'm almost half way there! -
Having the port replaced is easy as pie! I just had my done about 3 weeks ago and I have been back to 100% for a couple of weeks now. it was nothing like the original banding surgery. Good luck!

YAY Mvpo! I am soooo happy to hear your slip has corrected itself!

Do you exercise? Have you lost without it?
DrewsLou replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost my first 30 or so pounds with little to no excercise. After that it wouldn't budge until I started going to the gym 3 days a week. Some people are sucessful without excercise but I am a firm believer that some level of excercise is necessary to be healthy. -
YAY Alicia!!! 14 rocks!!! That's my next size in Old Navy jeans!

Wow! Sounds like everyone is doing great! Myra.... my thoughts are with you. Let us know how your barium swallow goes. cherg..... Welcome! Alicia... I know exactly how you feel! My weight bounces around like crazy. I just finished my TOM so hopefully I get to losing again. I am getting back into the gym this week, I went last night and did the treadmill for 30 minutes on a pretty serious program that had inclines up to 11! I was sweating pretty good after that! I think I am going to start alternating cardio one day and weights the next. I'm hoping that mixing it up a bit gets me moving again. Duckie.... I haven't noticed any issues with cold drinks for me... but lately nothing would suprise me. I got stuck a few times this weekend. I need to remember to SLOW DOWN!! Missy... If you got to "Quick Links" and look for "Subscribed Threads" and scroll down you will find us! You can find any thread you have posted on that way. Don't lose us!! I went for yet another interview for the job I hope to get yesterday. I met with the psychologist for an eval... hopefully she dosen't think I'm crazy!! I hope to hear something soon! I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving or not. The food part dosen't really bother me, I'm not a huge fan of traditional Thanksgiving fare anyway. I am going to try to find a healthier recipie for pumpkin pie (my fave thing about T-giving!). We go to my hubby's parents for dinner and all of us could stand to eat a lot healthier. My MIL is doing Slim for Life and has lost about 35 pounds so far, She looks great! One strange thing though.... we were talking last night and I was getting ready to go to the gym and I asked her what she is doing for excercise. She said that her advisor dosen't recommend that she excercise because her caloric intake is so low that it isn't safe. WTF???? That sounds odd to me. How is she going to get healthy and keep the weight off without excercise? Have a happy and safe turkey day!

Hey fellow Maysters! here is our new home for the month of October. Geez... October already! Where has the year gone?? Can hardly believe Christmas will be here before we know it! I am hanging tough for now with my band. I haven't lost (or gained!) anything in the past month or so. I go next Monday for my flouro and hope to get back on track after that. I am wearing size 18 for the most part now with some 16's thrown in. Not bad from the tight 22's I was in in May! I have been pretty stressed out in my life lately. My hubby and I are having some difficulties in our marriage right now in addition to his health problems. I think adding to the stress is me wanting a baby (now that my PCOS is totally under control, according to my gyno that I saw last week! NSV!!!) and feeling like I am having to put that on hold because he can't get healthy. I know that probably sounds selfish to some people but I can't help the way I feel. I feel like I have sacrificed so much for him and for him to be pulling the BS he has been lately is huge slap in the face. I just feel very lost and confused most of the time lately. I have agreed to try and work things out with him and see if we can't get back on track. I take my marriage vows very seriuosly and hope and pray he does too. Thanks for listening to me vent. You guys mean the world to me! Peace.

This sounds familiar. For so long I have been obsessed with my weight and imagined that once I lost the weight life would be all rosy and perfect. Boy was I wrong! All the problems I had all along are still there, I just can't hide behind the excuse of being fat anymore. That has been a serious struggle for me. I hope your not like me and have this picture of life automatically being rainbows and ponies as soon as the weight starts coming off because you might be setting yourself up for some serious disapointment.

Yay for 14's!!! Congrats!

Good idea about posting gift ideas! There are so many new people around here that I have had a hard time in the past coming up with ideas.
