So I have some exciting news.... hubby and are are going through fertility testing!!! I did some blood work last week and next week I got for an internal ultrasound to see how my ovaries look. (I have PCOS) Hubby is parapalegic and we aren't really sure if he has viable soldiers or not. When he was in his car accident 13 years ago his pelvis was ripped in half and we don't really know if all the plumbing is still attached or not. If it turns out what he has is not viable we will probably go with a sperm donor. I want to be a mom more than anything and I am so excited!! Did I mention I LOVE MY BAND???

Holy crap... I can hardly believe it. I weighed this morning and saw 224! That means I have lost 56 pounds and am now 54 away from goal! finally the number on my ticker "to go" is smaller than my "lost" number! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! I wanted to come here and share this with my LBT family ASAP!! Peace.

They got around it by piling dirt under the deck.

*is there a health insurance company that covers the lap band most of the time? I have heard of several, mine however does not cover it. * is it safe to have it done in Mexico? Depends on who you ask. It wasn't an option for me... no way no how. Other have had great success though. * if i choose to pay with out insurance what is a round about cost? I was self pay and paid $9950.00 -

Most people don't start to really lose until they get a good fill. I wouldn't worry about it.... your doc is right! -
Happy bday Heather!

I was downtown (Denver) Friday night with some friends for dinner. After dinner we walked the mall a bit. It's a wonderful outside, open mall with tons of people around. I was telling my girlfriend about this thread and that I learned what "Emo" meant and pointed out some kids that had that look. The first time I said it though I said "Emu", my hubby laughed at me and told me to rethink that a bit. Ahyway, now my girlfriend uses the word Emo CONSTANTLY... maybe I shouldn't have clued her in!

I watch this show on occasion as well. I have to do it when hubby isn't around though because he hates it! He can't stand Matt and his whining. My hubby is also disabled but dosen't define himself by it as Matt seems to do. I give kudos to Amy... I couldn't be married to someone like Matt! One thing that always cracks us up though... they are always talking about how the farm is in "trouble" but Matt spends money like it's going out of style. Have you seen the episodes where they go to Hawaii and stay at the FOUR SEASONS hotel?? LOL... cracks me up.

Yay Kirsten!! Congrats girl! My belly was sore for about a week. Felt like I did a zillion crunches. Getting up from bed was hard, I slept in a recliner the first 2 nights. Walk walk walk away that gas and take some gasx!

Wow.... this sounds familiar! I had a leak in my tubing and had my port and tubing replaced in November. PM me if I can help!

Now that I'm more than halfway to goal I thought I would post a new pic from tonight.

When does no drinking during/after meals start?
DrewsLou replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started the no drinking rule as soon as I started eating anything thicker than water. -
They also need to be able to accurately tell if your pale, jaundiced, ect and with makeup on thats difficult to do, it also makes it difficult for the tape to stick to your face from the breathing tube. They tape your eyes shut once the intubate you and who wants mascara sticking to plastic tape??

Still waiting for mine......:welldone2:

I had my port/tubing replaced today and all went well. The surgery itself was only about 45 minutes and I was in recovery for about the same amount of time. I am not NEARLY as sore as I was after I was banded. I am even able to lay in bed on my side! Wooohoo! I am taking tomorrow off and will head back to work on Monday. My doc gave me the port/tubing he removed so I can get it sent back to Inamed for testing. I was thinking of maybe taking a pic of it and posting it. Anyone interested??

I can certainly unerstand the demands of 24/7 care. My hubby and I have been married for 4 years now. 3 months after we married, he had an operation that went horribly wrong and for 3 years I was his constant caretaker. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Since then, he has been sick on and off and has had several operations and been hospitalized more times that I can count. As of right now he is doing okay and is mostly independant with things. Part of my difficulty in caring for him I'm sure was brought upon me by myself as I didn't think anyone could care for him the way I could. Kudos to you for caring for your mom.... there is a special place in heaven for people like you!

And just to address this.... I don't think my doc didn't know what he was doing. I think it was purely and simply an ACCIDENT. My band wasn't ruined, I just had my port and tubing replaced. No biggie in the grand scheme of things. Just wanted to clarify.... Peace.

Yep, it's me.... I'm that lady who had the leak in my tubing. I'd be happy to answer any questions for you if you want to PM me!

Congrats girl..... you deserve it!

Dr K did my surgery and he's great! I was a bit leery of MX as well but it turned out I had a wonderful alternative only a few miles away! Good luck to you.
