No... it was the "connector" as you call it that was punctured.
-
My surgeon gave me my port and tubing when he removed them from me... so I actually have it my possesion and let me tell you... it is not as "hard" as you might think it is to puncture the tubing. If you search my posts you will find a thread in which I posted pics of my tubing and port and the leak itself... you can see how easily it was punctured. Good luck to you!

I'm jealous that you girls get to meet!! :cry

Pick me!! I had to have my tubing and port REPLACED because the tubing was punctured by a needle......... and that was with a professional doing my fills!

Honestly, I have to say that it bothers me to see instructions on how to give yourself a fill posted here. What's next? How to install your own band?? YIKES!

I also had surgery with Dr K in Denver for $9950. The first three months of aftercare are included then he charges $15 per fill after that. Mexico wasn't an option for me and I was VERY lucky to find a great surgeon in my area!

I totally agree about the walking. I was on my way home within an hour of leaving the OR. I felt great! Tired but good. I walked and walked and walked around my house and up and down my driveway that day and the next day. My dogs thought I was crazy but I never had any probems with gas pains or anything. -
Kim.... I have notice a HUGE increase in the amount of food I am eating in one sitting and my snacking at night is getting out of control! I am hoping a fill will close that gap and keep me feeling full much longer. After a fill I have liquids/mushies the rest of the day and take it easy for 24 hours or so then ease back into a normal diet. Your after fill diet sounds BRUTAL!!! Edited to add.... I quit smoking on Jan 1 so I think that might have a lot to do with my incessant snacking. It has been 24 days smoke free!!

ZERO food for a week?? That can't be good for you? Did you do supplements or anything during that time?? Tell me more! -
This is a scary process. You are talking about totally changing your life and giving up the "comfort" you have now in your eating habits. I don't regret it for a second, it has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. My only regret is that I didn't know about the band sooner! You are totally normal to be scared and nervous... I sure was!! I personally don't have a problem taking pills whole so that hasn't been an issue for me. As far as food goes, the only thing I have trouble with and avoid is bread.... which is really no biggie... I was a HUGE bread addict! My best advice would be to understand that the band is not a magic bullet... it will not solve all your problems for you and losing the weight will take some effort on your part. Once I started losing some weight I started going to the gym a few times a week. I went from walking on the treadmill for 10 minutes at a time to currently training for a 5k! I have always hated excercise but now that I can do it without feeling like my heart is going to explode I find I enjoy it a lot more and it makes me feel good about myself. Good luck to you and read all that you can here on LBT and ask all the questions you need to. We have all been in your position at one time! Peace.

Linda... sending prayers your way!! Everything happens for a reason... just keep telling yourself that. Kim... I am pretty stalled out right now too. I am going in for a fill next week so I hope that jump starts me again!

I lost about 12 pounds on Dr K's pre-op diet. I am a total carb addict though and it about killed me! In the weeks before I started pre-op but had my surgery date scheduled I must have had about a dozen "last meals". I just had it in my head that I was never going to be able to eat anything I loved ever again so I better gobble it up fast. I gained about 8 pounds between my consult and my pre-op diet. Anyone else have that issue?? -

Congrats Machele!! Dr K is great... you will really like him. I called Marilyn today schedule a fill for next week. I have noticed I am eating too much lately and not staying full as long as I would like. I am going in on Tuesday for the fill, it will be the first time I have seen Dr K since November! VABandster... how ya doin' girl?? -
Mvpo.... are they replacing your port? If so I can tell you it was a super easy recovery for me. Waaaaay easier than the original surgery!! Good luck to you!
-
Nana! I found you! Sending happy healing thoughts your brothers way.......

Marz.... my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Dame... I also do yoga... it feels so good! I waited a few weeks before I was able to do the most basic poses. It probably took me a good month to do anything that involved stretching my abdomen. Good luck with your surgery! :clap2:

I don't think anyone was attacking you. YIKES! :)

I second that!! I know how hard it is though travelbug. After everything you've been through you just want that fat gone for good! Be patient (easier said than done) and good things will come to you!

How often do you exercise?
DrewsLou replied to Maurdan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I try to get in an much as I can. I average about 5 times a week. -
It wasn't an issue for me. I lucked out and I wasn't having my TOM then. I have seen other posts about this very subject here on LBT and it seems to be a non-issue for most women. If you are on your TOM they may ask that you wear a pad instead of a tampon but other than that you should be fine!
