    Feeling Quite Miserable

Try drinking the water at room temperature. Ice cold water (the way I usually like it) was impossible to drink during the first few weeks. I felt a lot of regret too but these hard days will pass and it does get easier!

Gained 4 kg in 9 days!

How were you able to get 1200 calories in per day at 3 weeks post-op? I'm 5 weeks out and can't get more than 450 per day and that's on a good day. I want to eat more calories because I'm tired most of the time and don't have the energy I was hoping for.
  3. My surgeon also told me to crush my meds. He said to do this until 6 weeks. One more week of crushing, I'm so tired of it! Much easier to just swallow with some water.

    Syntrax Nectar Protein Powder

I liked the Fuzzy Naval too and I'm extremely picky about protein drinks. The Iced Lemon Tea flavor is good too.

12 days post-op. Depressed and struggling

I've been very depressed too and sometimes angry. No one talks about the emotional strain after surgery. I've had a very hard time getting all the protein in and water. I'm tired of eating the same crap day in and day out. I dream of foods I'm not allowed to have. I'm glad you're seeing a therapist. Have you thought about adding an antidepressant? It might make a world of difference. Hope this gets easier soon!
  6. It's crazy how everyone's protocol is so different! I was clear liquids for 2 days, then full liquids until day 14, now pureed for 3 weeks, then soft for 2 and finally regular diet on June 25 (was sleeved May 7). I'm so ready for some normal food I can't stand it.
  7. I'm almost 3 weeks post op and have frequently regretted my sleeve. I also did a lot of research before surgery but it seems people don't talk much about how hard it is to get through the diet phases until you can eat solid food again. The protein shakes are nasty, I can't stand anything with artificial sweeteners (most sugar-free products), and have a lot of pain when eating. Hoping things will get easier as I progress to "normal" food. Because I haven't been able to get all my protein in, I've been exhausted but that's my own fault. I also can't drink the recommended amount of water. It's just too much. I'm losing weight and am happy about that but the mental part is so hard. I wasn't prepared for that.

    Any MAY sleevers???

I think your doc is absolutely correct. Today I ate cottage cheese, some soup, and some refried beans and didn't have near the pain I had yesterday. I have to eat very slowly and can barely get in 1/4 cup at a time but that's where my NUT wants me anyway. I have to be on pureed for 3 weeks and then soft foods for 2 before I can start regular. I'm just so surprised at how hard it is to eat now. But it was that way with liquids at first too, I could barley swallow water and that got much better so I'm sure this phase will work itself out as well.

    Any MAY sleevers???

On my plan it's under the pureed foods and allowed at 2 weeks along with cottage cheese.

    Any MAY sleevers???

For those of you who have started pureed foods, did you have any trouble at first? I'm two weeks post-op and per my instructions was allowed to start pureeds today. I made 1 scrambled egg this morning and ate a little more than half and have been suffering all day with stomach pain. I felt extremely full and then it just hurt. Haven't been able to eat anything else except some unsweetened apple sauce with my crushed up meds. Has anyone else experienced this?

6 days post - looking for advice

I'm two weeks post-op and completely understand where you're coming from. I'm just now starting to feel semi-normal. I've regretted my decision too and have had some bad days. Was in a lot of pain the first week too. I've also had a hard time getting all the liquids down and the protein shakes. Still haven't met my goal for either. I've been exhausted from lack of food. But I'm hoping things are starting to look up. I get to start pureed foods tomorrow and my energy level is getting better. I agree with the post above that mentioned the bad parts of this surgery are kind of glossed over. I didn't expect it to be this hard. But we'll get through it!

    Any MAY sleevers???

Me too! Every time I put something in my stomach that isn't water it gurgles like crazy and I burp the whole time I'm eating. Really annoying because it makes me not want to eat. And I'm with you on the protein shakes. So far the most protein I've gotten down has been 30 grams. I know that's not enough, I just have a really hard time doing more. I start pureed foods Monday so I'm hoping I'll be able to get more protein in that way. A scrambled egg has never sounded so good!
  14. I was sleeved on 5/7 and I'm so done with this liquid phase too. I get to start pureed foods Monday and have to do that for 3 weeks then 2 weeks of soft foods and finally solids on June 25! I can't stand the protein shakes. They are so sweet and nasty. I started getting a few hunger pains this past week but still don't have the desire to eat because I'm so sick of everything I'm allowed to have at this point. Anyone having a hard time with the vitamins? I can't stomach them at all. I've been grumpy and moody and regretting this decision half the time. But when I look at pictures of my fat self I'm glad I did it. Hope it gets easier with the pureed stage.

    Any MAY sleevers???

I have glue on mine too. Had surgery May 7 and the glue is off 3 of the incisions. Mine started peeling around the edges and I couldn't help but pick at it! Lol. So picked a little each day and got the three off. The only one that isn't peeling now is the largest and I'm leaving it alone until it starts coming off naturally.

    Pain when coughing or moving

I'm 7 days post-op and still have some pain when coughing or moving but it's greatly reduced. It will get better everyday. Make sure to take your pain meds and walk. Also, use a pillow to splint your abdomen when you have to cough or move. Basically, you hug a pillow to your abdomen. It will really help.

One Month Post Op-Is it just me?

I'm 7 days post-op and having a hard time getting protein and water down too. Just found a protein shake I like yesterday (Unjury classic chocolate with 8 oz skim milk). Have only managed to get in about 1 and a half servings per day though. The most protein intake per day I've had is around 30g. And the most water per day I've had is 32 oz. I'm trying but it hurts. Every time I take a sip of something my stomach cramps up and gurgles. I'm exhausted because I can't get enough protein in. Had no idea it would be this hard. Good luck to you and I hope it gets easier for both of us!

    Any MAY sleevers???

Thank you so much for your reply. I've been feeling really down about it all. Didn't expect the pain to be this bad or have this much trouble just drinking fluids. Haven't even started protein yet, that's tomorrow. I tried some watered down G2 gatorade tonight and it's going down much easier than plain water so hopefully that will continue.

    Any MAY sleevers???

Hey everyone, I haven’t posted much but have been reading. I was sleeved on the 7th, 2 days ago. Been having a hard time with pain and being so sleepy! Also, I don’t want to eat or drink anything. Just getting my liquid pain med down is a huge effort. Anyone else feel this way?

    Unsupportive mother

My mom has been unsupportive as well. She keeps telling me I should be able to do this on my own and I'm just being lazy. On top of that, she started dieting after having her aortic valve replaced and will call me to brag on the weight she has lost "naturally". I'm 40 years old and don't need this crap. My dad is much better about it but he did sit me down at Christmas and tell me he thought I was being selfish because what would happen to my 3 young kids if I died from complications? Talk about a guilt trip! He's since come around but it's hard to deal with all the negative feedback you get. I've only told 3 friends, my parents, and my husband's parents. I know it's hard to do something your parents don't approve of (even though we're adults!) but ultimately, it's your life and your health and you need to do what is best for YOU. Good luck and I hope it gets easier!

Awesome! I want to know all the gory details. LOL. Seriously though, I’m way more nervous than I thought I would be. Glad to have some company!

    Any MAY sleevers???

My sleeve is scheduled for 5/7! So excited and nervous! I’ve been a longtime lurker on this site and now that I’ve got my date it doesn’t feel real!
