pschmolle started following Narrowminded Coworkers, Dr Lomax, Peoria, IL, lat chance and and 7 others

Hello..has anyone used Dr Lomax out of Peoria, IL for plastic surgery?
-
Yes, seeing a doctor who does a couple different procedures is an excellent idea. I had the band because I was afraid of the bypass surgery. But I realize now there's very little to be afraid of with either of them. Either way there will be alot of changes in your life, and 99% of them will be to the good.

Anyone NOT LOSE their hair?
pschmolle replied to LisaFromCali's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my pre-op class & 3 month check up/seminar they talked about it. Said it usually starts around 3 months & ends about 9 months. Meeting the protein and water requirements is helpful. They suggested a few OTC vitamins (Biotin maybe) & some shampoos that can be bought at Walgreens or from a stylist. For me, I see extra shedding espcially when shampooing/conditioning. But I see it as short term & a small price to pay. Good Luck! -

TLCEdge Self Pay: How long from consult to surgery?
pschmolle replied to binab's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was self pay also. It took 4 1/2 months from seminar to surgery. The doctor was hard to get into (5 weeks after seminar) and the pulmonologist (required testing) was another 5 weeks to get in to. After that, surgery was scheduled a month after I had the testing completed. It was a good time to think about things. Good Luck! -
How do you deal with no drinks during eating?
pschmolle replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me, during the meal isn't as bad as after the meal. My doc's rules are 90 minutes after a meal. I usually pop some sugar free lifesavers or gum to help cleanse my palette & add some saliva to my mouth. -
Tomorrow-- Start of a New Life

Good Luck tomorrow! I was banded 07.15.08 and had to stay overnight also & I'm glad I did. I had a good recovery. I've been really pleased w/ my results (down 33 lbs) and I haven't had any troubles. LBT has helped me alot. It helped me fill in alot of the blanks. Here's to you. Congratulations. -
My coworkers, at least to my face, have been pretty decent. Today, we were talking about things I have had to give up (like soda). She said it would be too hard for her to give things up. I said that sometimes it is hard, but reminded her that being fat is hard.

I also was excited & told all my close people (family & friends). Everyone in my family was very supportive. My thin friends were also supportive. I was suprised that my overweight friends were not supportive...at first. I think they got used to the idea & when they knew I was going to do it they got on the bandwagon. They also were afraid of change & taking a look at their own lifestyles. I'm down 25 lbs & they seem to be happy for me.

Please respond if you started with a bmi around 40
pschmolle replied to emily111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm another one struggling w/ the same scenario. My BMI was 41 pre-op. I lost 10 on the pre-op diet & another 12 since surgery, but that also was in the first 2 weeks. Now I just wait for the scale to move-and it doesn't. I'm trying hard to just maintain. -
so how long from start to finish??
pschmolle replied to mommyx2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was a self pay so I didn't have to do the 6 month weight loss program, but it still took me 4 1/2 months from seminar to surgery. It took about a month to get in to see the surgeon for the first time. After I was cleared for surgery w/ the preop testing I had to wait another month because my Dr was already booked a month out. It was a good opportunity to prepare myself. -
Surgery Scheduled for August 15th and I have questions
pschmolle replied to patrick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work (desk job) on Friday. On Saturday I was tired, but felt ok. On my 3rd day post-op (Friday) I started pureed protein. I was not hungry the first week, but by the 2nd week I was getting there. I did not have alot of pain. My gas pains were an aching across my back. I took the Vicadin for just a couple days. Good luck!
