Hi, I had a band fitted in the UK Autumn 2017 and all was well until summer 2018 where I started to get terrible acid reflux and vomiting after eating. I had a barium swallow which showed my band had slipped and they completely emptied my band pending removal. It eased my symptoms initially but since December ish last year I am regularly suffering attacks of vomiting which typically last 24 hours, bear no relation to what I’ve eaten and after the initial food, is just acid. I am under investigation as I’ve moved to Denmark but I was wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms from an empty band and if so, what was the result? I can’t even keep water down until it’s passed and the pain from the acid is unbearable. I’m taking ranitidine and had a barium last week which showed no blockage and my band sitting fully open. I get sick like this every 7 to 14 days

I think so, I’ve just tried sending you one -
Best of luck! I was told to eat lots of protein and drink lots of water. I'm trying what I can though, there are some foods I just can't handle since having the band

It's hard not to be disheartened sometimes though, 17lbs is a drop in the ocean of what I need to loose and it's taken over 2 months. BUT, negative thoughts are not going to help me! -

That's amazing!! Well done I too was worrying I wouldn't see much progress and have had, in my opinion, a slow month but in total I'm down 17lbs so far. Would definitely like to buddy up with everyone, I really want to make a difference to myself and then help other people on their journey -

Hi! I'm doing ok, like you I sometimes forget to take smaller bites which is painful! I had my first fill just before Christmas, I put a little bit of weight on over Christmas due to eating lots of chocolate and not a lot else but hopefully now will start to see a difference -

Hello, I hope you are still active on the forum. I had to take a break after a tough month but am back now! How are things with you? I have two kids who are 9 and 10 and I’m a children’s nurse, all my experience is with premature babies [emoji846] -
Eek did you find out about your port? I’m still struggling to remember to take smaller bites and boy do I know about it when I do!

It’s just gone half ten here, most definitely bedtime for me! My kids are still little and like to wake early, they’re 8 and 9. I do find it hard preparing meals for them and my husband, the smells drive me crazy, hopefully when I can start eating small amounts of mushy food this won’t be so bad. I’m a nurse and I’m 38, what ages does middle school cover? 30lbs?! Wow! -

Yes have to say I’m looking forward to having something other than soup but I’m also really grateful to have had this chance to sort myself out. I’ve been experimenting with lots of different smoothies to get some variety as well as vitamins, I had banana, strawberry and melon all blended with lots of milk, was pretty good and no nasty aftertaste Have you a large family? -

Hi! Absolutely does not matter where you are, I am happy to be buddies. How did your surgery go, did it take you long to recover? I'm 6 days post op now and feeling a lot less tender. I had a low day yesterday of feeling I was doing the post op diet all wrong, I was hungry and everything I had was all artificial tasting. Today has been better not as hungry. I've got my first post op check with the surgeon at the end of the month, when do you go? -
Worried I'm doing it wrong/post op blues

I seem to have the day 5 post op blues if there is such a thing. I am really hungry today, I think because my pain has subsided greatly and I'm moving more and also because the liquid medications and the shakes seem to leave a artificial sweet taste in my mouth. I crave salt like mad too. The last few days I've been having a shake for breakfast, milk mid morning, soup for lunch, milk mid afternoon, soup for tea and a shake/smoothie later in the evening (one tin of soup will do me 3 ish portions) and I have water/ sugar free squash/tea throughout the day. Is this too much? I'm so worried I'm going to stretch my pouch. I haven't been or felt sick, occasional I get a little tight chested but I think that's a signal to slow down/stop. Really gassy after everything too. Sorry to be moany! -

So if I had a bit more soup it wouldn't be the end of the world?! -
I'm experiencing this today!! I am 5 days post op today and HUNGRY. I've been having tomato soup, slim fasts shakes etc but today I blended up a tin of chicken and veg broth and it seems to have worked....for now!

This is really great to read from someone who is just starting their journey. I was banded on Monday and today I've started to worry I'm already doing it wrong - I'm meant to be on liquids and I made myself a milky smoothie with a yogurt and banana, in my head I've messed up already :/ Anyway congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing!
