I had a sleeve in 2017 and told my best work friend and parents. When I started losing weight so rapidly, people thought I was dying, like from cancer or something. And I had no idea until said work friend came to me and was like “this is getting out of hand, how have you not heard anything, say Something!” Ha. Now I’m doing a revision to bypass and I am shouting it to the world. I’m so excited! And definitely want no one to think I’m dying!

I ended up chopping off half my hair and I feel much better.

Bipolar Out Break 8 Months Later
redhead_che replied to boogie2dope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Was there not a psychologist or psychiatrist in your Bariatric consults or team? We have 2 in our program as resources for patients with mental health needs. I’d hate for that to not be common :( so sorry you are struggling! I wish I had insight but all I have is a friendly internet hug 🥰 -
Knowing some of these things could mess me up early post op, I think $15 is probably worth it. To have something that can speak for me in the event that I can’t. Perhaps I see the benefit in it more because I’ve had an event within the last 2 years where I couldn’t speak for myself at a hospital and they definitely did whatever they needed/wanted to figure it out with no consent 😬

Your attitude towards your surgery (“so what” “goodness!”) and mine are drastically different. I’m here to follow the rules of my program so if that means no NSAIDS, sugars/IV fluid, or NG tubes, I’m all for it. But I’m preop until 5/6/22 so that could explain it. Perhaps, and I assume, you are post op and even possibly years out post op :)

I did end up ordering one from Amazon, $15 bucks. I was told to put my procedure name and date and then; no nsaids, no sugars, and no blind NG tubes on it. I’ll probably wear it for awhile. Lord knows better safe than sorry.

Feeling depressed/hopeless on liquid diet
redhead_che replied to Vivis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to first validate your feelings, I hear you 100% and you be as loud about how you feel as you need to be. We are here to hold that space for you. And I will say this is my second procedure coming up, I’m going to be a sleeve to bypass. So I’ve done the 2 week liquid diet before and I was angry and sad throughout it too. I just remember telling everyone “I just want to CHEW something!” And being stressed. It’s a hard battle we are assigned pre surgery, but I know we can do it. I’ve seen all the suggestions you’ve received and they are great. I hope some of those suggestions work for you. Just know I’m in the struggle bus with you! -
My 1 week liquid diet starts 4/29! Very close to yours. Can’t wait.

I had no GERD before surgery. I had a normal endoscopy prior to surgery and was cleared for my sleeve.

The dreaded GERD with some regain.

Sleeve to...? Revision seeker
redhead_che posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi all, so glad they added this forum! I was sleeved in 2017 and lost 90lbs. Unfortunately I experienced great loss and trauma in 2019 to recent and find myself meeting the criteria for weight loss surgery again. I’ve done a lot of work on myself since and learned how to cope without using food. I’m starting the approval process for a revision on 11/19/20. Anyone on here get a second surgery due to weight gain? I know they do revisions for GERD and other issues but I want to hear from anyone who had a revision for gain. Did you sleeve to bypass? Resleeve? Sleeve to DS? Bypass to...? Did insurance cover it? Make you do a diet program first? Did it take months? tell me all the things! -
Revision completed

I’m in Mo too and being screened at Mercy. My persons name is Dr. Lang though. I may ultimately decide to go back to Kansas City where my original was done though—they were top notch in that area of KS. We will see! -

This is how I found out my plan didn’t cover contraceptives, but does cover WLS 😳😬 definitely call your plan and ask specifically. -

No, this wasn’t the case for me. At my lowest I had lost 105lbs with my first sleeve. -
Beginning BMI 35 or under
redhead_che replied to 1GardenGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a BMI of 32 with no comorbidities. I had to self pay. First spot was in September and I had surgery in November. This was 2017. I advise addressing any food addiction or other mental health concerns adequately prior to surgery. Or you may end up like me 3 years later and qualifying for surgery yet again and pursuing revision. Dealt with my trauma with food and I had to do therapy before I felt ready to seek revision now. -
11 wks out - still having discomfort/getting conflicting info
redhead_che replied to LAJ23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope it isn’t like this for you but I’m 3 years out and my stomach/throat STILL make noises, especially at very inconvenient times 😬 My coworkers assure me it’s not as loud as I think it is though 😂 -
Sleeve to...? Revision seeker

I thought I was leaning towards bypass, but a very wise soul on this board suggested I look into DS, as it’s seen as a gold standard for weight loss surgery. I have done very little research on DS, but I plan on asking my surgeon (hopefully surgeon that is) what their thoughts are on it! I’m open to whatever can help me get these extra 100+ pounds off. -
I never thought I'd let myself get to goal (120) and then regain. But like so many others before me I know what I have to do to get back on track. As of now I am 170. 2 years out last month. January last year I was 125lbs and loving life. It has been an incredibly rough year, but I can't let that be an excuse. I'm no expert, but that's pretty significant regain I had the surgery for my health and now I'm getting back to where I was at the beginning at an astonishing rate. My food choices are terrible, I put alcohol and soda back in my "diet" and I went back to snacking. Ugh! Anyone else in a similar boat? What has helped you besides getting back to the basics? Is there anything in particular that has helped you the most with losing the regain? Any support and encouragement is welcome--I've been pretty down on myself lately. But I know I can get back to at least a healthy weight. This time I'll probably aim for 130-135. I came back here since this community was so incredibly supportive to me early post op. And for that I thank you all!

Can't wait to renew mine...I lied the last time and grossly under-reported my weight (I was 225 ish and said 165) 😐 So now it says 165 and I'm 123 July '19 come onnnnnn renewal!

I had hair loss up until 11 months, but I had thick hair to begin with and I feel like it actually improved after the LOSS process stopped and I kept getting healthier. I'm over a year post op now.

redhead_che replied to Snapple's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
This may be too far out for you, but people come to this facility from all over for surgery so I'll throw it out there. I went through The Bariatric Center of Kansas City and had amazing success and I was also self-pay and it was easy breezy. Started the orientation process in mid September '17 and my surgery was November '17 -
I would describe mine the same way! Definitely deflated balloons....but still I remain much happier overall. Victoria's Secret makes me forget about it until I take off the bra at the end of the day
