  1. How long did it take you to have a bowel movement after your RNY? I hear it can take up to 7 days to have one…not liking that idea so I’ve been taking miralax daily so far. How long for you? Did you need something to help get it going? 😜

    TMI question 🙋‍♀️

@ElleyOtter I track it too in my Baritastic app 🤣. Just finished a morning Gatorade zero with some miralax 🤓

    May Surgery Buddies

I’m on puréed for 3 more days. It’s not that glorious for me. All my choices make me nauseous after small amounts 😞 my plan says: eggs, ricotta or cottage cheese, fat free refried beans.

    May 2022 surgery?

Congratulations!! Heating pads help as well but you are correct, to move the gas and get it out….walking is key 🔑

    May 2022 surgery?

Yay! My post op was yesterday and they took my staples out and I feel better already. Hope you have a good result!
  6. This post may be touchy for some people. But we will try. I do ketamine infusions periodically for depression. My ketamine physician said to wait until cleared on 5/16/22 and then we could resume once a month infusions. My next appt is set for 5/23. Anyone have any feedback on resuming this type of treatment post weight loss surgery? It’s fairly uncommon treatment so maybe not but I thought I’d try for some feedback :)

    Post op ketamine infusions

Best decision I ever made. I was resistant to most anti depressants and nothing was working so I tried it. My mood is significantly improved. Post bypass I think they just want to be sure the body is healed enough to handle an infusion. The idea of it now makes me somewhat nervous—idk if rerouted guts has any impact on the infusion or not.
  8. I have sensitive skin so hibiclens was a no for me. I had to wash in dial antibacterial soap 🧼 🤣

    Exactly 1 week post-op

It was indeed laparoscopic. That’s the standard here. I have 6 incisions with either 2-5 staples. The incision the drain was in has 5 and is the most irritating. 🤷🏼‍♀️But today they get cut out and I am a free woman! ….or so I want to believe 🤣 it should help with some flexibility and comfort at least.

It has at times yes! I now go probably 80% of the day without it but at night it likes to rear it’s ugliness and start stabbing me again. My staples come out tomorrow so I’ll be asking the physicians assistant to just ease my concerns and tell me one more time it’s normal 😞 I’m so sorry yours hasn’t eased up!

    May 2022 surgery?

@possum220: I’m so sorry you had a rough start! I’ve had very low blood pressure myself. 80s/40s and 90s/50s. It’s unsettling! But I am recovering at home, day 9 post op. I’m told low blood pressure is a sign the body is healing? Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Gastric Sleeve to Gastric Bypass

I was just revised to a bypass from sleeve on 5/6 for reflux with regain. No more acid reflux. Currently in the mushy food phase. Lost 18lbs so far. Not too shabby. I too had a decent amount of regain prior to my bypass—surgeon says if I do all the things our guidelines say I can get back to my lowest of 125. It was the right decision for me.

    Exactly 1 week post-op

Yes. This is me now. I called my surgery center and they told me my pain sounded like the internal stitch being an a hole. It literally knocks me down and feels like I’m being stabbed to death. I was in the shower today wishing I had a shower chair because I was in so much pain and out of breath. It’s not just you. *virtual hug

    Marijuana Use and Nausea

Why stop at a week? Keep going! I agree, drugs are a bad idea post weight loss surgery 😊

I’ve seen this shirt on Etsy and Amazon! I had one made that said “Straight Outta Gastric Bypass “ 🥰

    Sinus/cold before surgery May 16th

I had a sinus thing a few days before surgery and day of. I had to produce a negative covid test and they did the surgery anyway. The antibiotics actually helped clear it that they give you during surgery 🤣

    Sometimes the truth hurts

I think a lot of the commenters on that post are women and perhaps wish it had a more feminine polish on the statement. To be 100% real though, I agreed with you completely. 🤷🏼‍♀️

She says it’s too acidic for a healing stomach until then. I’m not thrilled about her ruling but I don’t want to mess anything up 🫣

I can’t have the sauce until week 8 🙄 the dietician won’t approve Alfredo substitute either. So I wait. It’s literally saved in my phone for when I can have it 👌

I’m on work leave and I am bored too 🤣 today I moved into the mushy stage. My diet expanded to being able to have: fat free refried beans, low fat ricotta or cottage cheese, and eggs 🍳 I had 2tbs of beans for breakfast and it was way better than it should have been 🤣 I was so tired of yogurt. Days 3-6 my options were yogurt, hot cereal. I hate hot cereal. So I ate yogurt and was over it. Moving on up!

    May 2022 surgery?

I’ve never been so happy to eat something mushy! My choices are fat free refried beans, fat free/low fat cottage or ricotta cheese, eggs. I ate beans this morning and it was delightful. 🥰 hope anyone else around my date (5/6) is progressing as well!

    May 2022 surgery?

To and from surgery? To I guess would be fine but my surgeon office said a ride home is required. You are a little doped up on pain pills so driving would be scary 😧

It’s a huge lifestyle change but one that is so worth it!

    May Surgery Buddies

I only needed some fresh underwear, my favorite oversized dress to wear home, AirPods. But i only had to stay a little under 24 hrs. I find a lot of that other stuff unnecessary but if your hospital stay is longer it makes sense.

    Psychology appt anxious

My practice had a policy that if you were under a psychiatrist or therapist care they had to sign off that they feel it’s in your best interest. 🤷🏼‍♀️
