So...what's your favorite flavor of Mio?

Cherry blackberry, the mango one, lemonade, and apple orchard.

    Favorite cookbook now?

My macros were determined by my bariatric program. I use the free app My Fitness Pal to track everything I eat and drink. My bariatric program says we need 60-70g protein, less than 60 carbs, and less than 30g of fat per day. I personally eat only around 30 carbs and 15-20g of fat a day, but always meet my protein. I pick recipes based on where I’m at already for the day—if I’ve had 20g of fat and I’m getting ready to make dinner, I’m not going to choose a recipe with 20g of fat per serving. And I typically only cook recipes that have more protein than carbs per serving. You should have macro goals given to you by your individual program, if not, I’d call and ask! Because id be lost without my number guidelines.

    Favorite cookbook now?

I used to love hard copy cookbooks but now I just search on Pinterest and save them. Print them out if they meet my macros.
  5. I live a few hours away from my mother and she came down for "however long I needed." I have my BF that lives with me, so he was also there for support. My mom and BF did everything the above posters said and it was great. She was very helpful with making me feel better when I felt like crying (because you definitely wanna cry at some points when you get home post op) and also helping me get groceries because I didn't want to get in a car. But if you ask her, all she did was give me my Lovenox shots in the tummy After my 5 days of shots we were both like, "ok, time to go" I'm also in my 20s so it's definitely a feeling of "I appreciate you, thank you, but I got this now" haha.

    Vitamins

I use Journey Bariatric vitamins and Journey Calcium+ Vit D supplements. My surgeon's office sells them and offers an auto-ship program with free shipping so I just do that instead of trying to guess what I need out of any other store bought/non-bari kind. I'm a simple gal
  7. Personally my surgeon told me I could take my anxiety meds immediately after surgery. No crushing or anything, I was able to swallow them with a sip of water. But it’s surgeon preference I think—everyone is different!

    Gurgling in Esophagus after Swallowing

Quite often. It’s totally normal. I’m 3.5 months out and still have it but hopeful it goes away soon!

    Isopure experience?

I liked isopure fine. It was a nice break from normal shake textures and flavors. I can’t eemember which flavor I had but it was red?

    Constipation

Miralax or Milk of Magnesia. I use miralax if it’s only been a day or so. I use MoM when I feel real backed up. Which is thankfully not often because that stuff tastes nasty.

    What's for lunch today?

A makeshift quesadilla type thing half a flat out wrap, 2 oz ham, mix of mozzerella and cheddar cheeses. 95 calories, 2 fat, 7 carbs, 16 protein.
  12. 3.5 months out, still drinking a shake for breakfast 99% of the time. My stomach is just not awake that early. I could wake up an hour earlier to prep and cook and tell my stomach it needs real food, but that’d be 4:30am so no thx not yet at least.
  13. A progress picture. A before and current, definitely more progress to be made. But I was so darn frustrated this week about stalling. I had to put the two pictures side by side to see I’ve come so far already...have to keep going! 💪 I highly recommend doing this compare and contrast activity if you haven’t already!

    Water water water

I'm right there with you. I used to get about 100oz a day, now I barely make 56oz and my goal is 64. I flavor it with mio, but I think I might just start cutting up pieces of fresh fruit like lemon/lime etc. The mio is not cheap and it's starting to taste more and more artificial and not helpful! I'm also never thirsty anymore unless I'm working out.

A stall is a good time for...

Thank you guys :3 It was very eye opening and I now have a greater appreciation for what I've accomplished in these 3ish months. Stall shmall, it'll pass. *fingers crossed* for soon

How offen do you go #2?

Surgery actually helped my regularity. I go daily most of the time. After 2 days of nothing I take miralax or milk of magnesia. I’d ask your doc if that’s ok to not be going much...mine would say every 3 days or more.

What's Your Goal For The Week?

Exercise 30 minutes a day. Get at least 60oz of water a day. My goal is 64 and my average is 54. But thinking of that last 10oz at the end of the day is like *bleh* to me.

    Big Ward

I watched the whole first season last night too. Very interesting. At one point when someone had 4-6 sandwiches on their plate I got nauseous. And I felt really bad for Kimiora and her post op protein shake ordeal.
  20. I've been putting it off because I've gone through like, all of my saved pants that were previously in the "those are too small" closet and probably by next week will all be in the "these are too big, donate" pile. I wish I got to enjoy my previously too small clothes more but the rate I go through sizes is ridiculous (in a good way, but SHEESH!) To the point where I have no idea what size I am in anything. My shirts still fit though, so if you see a girl walking down the hall holding her pants up, but with a real cute shirt on, that's me

Chewed Piece of Chicken, Spit it Out

I kept asking BF to go to the store and get crackers for me yesterday because all I wanted to do was CHEW something CRUNCHY. And then he lovingly reminded me pre-surgery I could eat a whole sleeve at one time and did I really want a whole box of crackers in the house (answer: NO) I think chicken is the most I've had to chew up in my entire 4ish months post op and it's still not the crunch my head wants. Head hunger is real and sucky. But the now -55lbs is worth it. Figured out if I continue -10 a month I'll be at goal in July. I totally get thinking early on (and I'm still early on too) "can I do this?" or "I want to EAT something" since I had those thoughts. But let's tackle that head hunger!

To tell or not to tell

I told my best coworker/friend, my parents, boyfriend, and my mother accidentally told one aunt I've lost about 52lbs and only 2-3 people I work with have commented on my weight loss either with a "you look amazing, or what are you doing?" Since I didn't tell anyone really before surgery, then left for 3 weeks, and came back and sometimes appear tired (lack of calories still)...I very much wonder if some of them think I'm sick or something. I was told a lot of people probably won't say anything for fear it's because of something negative. Or just because it's none of their beeswax

    Oddly Anxious

I feel anxious at my current weight because I don't remember anytime recent I was this size. So now I'm like, "what size pants am I? what size shirt? Do these fit? Do those shoes fit? I DON'T KNOW!" Different type of anxiety, but I still mentally feel bigger than I am. My ever changing sizes make me anxious, but happy xD

    Getting back to Work

I took 3 weeks since my job is go go go on your feet most of the day and after 2 weeks I was NOT ready for that yet.

    Any issues with meat?

THIS. ALL THE THIS. Also 3 months out and I feel like I'm tolerating fish way better. I can eat ground beef and chicken, I just don't enjoy it or feel good after I eat it. And I definitely don't want it the next day. I think some of it for me is mental (the chewing up of chicken specifically), but I do feel a difference in my pouch when I eat seafood vs. meat.
