Arms, stomach and fat back...uggg
redhead_che replied to TaylorMade4One's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I don't know if you have pinterest, but you can type in "arm fat workouts" or "back fat workouts" and pins will come up with pictures and exercise examples. For me personally I do a lot of bicep curls, tricep dips, overhead presses with 5lb weights and lateral arm raises. For stomach fat I do planks, leg lifts, bicycles, etc. Examples of these are all on pinterest (Which if you can't tell is an obession of mine) -
Best app for charting weight loss journey
redhead_che replied to ginnybark's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I use MyFitnessPal for food intake, water intake, exercise, and weight tracking. I use Baritastic because it's weight tracker helps create milestones for you to reach and tells how how close you are to meeting them with percentages. I'm a visual person and I like that. I also like the journal feature they have because after surgery constipation is unfortunately a thing and the journal lets me keep track of that... :3 -
Sleeve or bypass, how did you choose?
redhead_che replied to TaylorMade4One's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was a "low BMI" patient, so I wasn't thinking seriously about the RNY, but I would have listened to my surgeon if they suggested it. However, my surgeon said I was "the perfect candidate" for the sleeve, which was what I wanted anyways. I didn't want more health problems down the line via nutritional deficiencies or what have you if I happened to lose too much weight. And I really didn't want to re-wire all of my guts--for me, taking some of one thing out is better than redoing all the pipes I am very happy with my decision. Almost 5 months post op and only 28lbs until I reach my goal. And maybe I'll keep going! -
I know there is a fitness board on here, but it’s not always very populated. So bear with me. Those of you that work out, do you use a pre workout mix/powder? Back in my early 20s I used something called C4 a handful of times and it had positive results. But now I’m post op sleeve and have no idea how it’d impact me. Just thought I’d see if anyone had tried one post op, thanks!

DREAMING OF A SPECIAL OUTFIT?
redhead_che replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a strapless dress from Forever 21 I wore to my cousins wedding in 2011. I was 143lbs at the time. When I fit back into that, I’ve done it! But my goal is actually 130 so perhaps that dress will fit and then get too big! -
Choosing a Surgeon - How many did you interview?
redhead_che replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They didn’t have as in depth follow up care. They didn’t have a laid out step by step diet plan (ex weeks1/2 then 3/4) no follow up nutrition visits and no support groups. I needed something that told me every week how I should be progressing -
So we foster dogs, not 100% ready to commit to having a full-time baby... This was most recent and probably best foster this year. I love them all, but this guy was 9, blind, and had 3 legs. Snuggliest cutest dog ever

Choosing a Surgeon - How many did you interview?
redhead_che replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to interview two programs basically, each with like 5 surgeons to choose from. I didn’t like the first programs layout or resources, so I went to the second. Loved it, picked the surgeon who had been there the longest. -
Guilt in wanting VSG
redhead_che replied to mrs.amandaleo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This sort of happened with my mom and I. She had bypass when I was a teenager. She didn’t involve me as much as it sounds like you plan on involving your daughter. So I kind of watched, tweaked some of her meal prep stuff, and exercised, but it never stuck for me. Probably why I grew up and chose to get the sleeve, ha! Hopefully she gets involved and makes positive changes too! -
I stopped drinking coffee a month before my surgery and last month re-introduced it. Had a teensy tiny black coffee at work and I was seeing sounds I was so hyped up xD Now I just have one a week if I feel like it. Since I cut out all the soda and juice and crud my liquids consist of water...water...oh and some more water...haha

infection b4 sleeve surgery
redhead_che replied to connie123lok's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would call your surgeons office, but I was allowed to take OTC mucinex and other things due to a chest cold the weekend before surgery. And I still got to have the surgery! But every surgeon is different in their medication preferences I’d imagine. -
Yes, a squatty potty. This ongoing constipation is ridiculous. And while I’m on a plan to address that and help things along, my family and a few friends swear by the squatty potty so I gathered up my pride and bought one 😂 hooray for post op poop troubles 🙄 anyone else swear by it? Have one? Love it? Notice a difference? Still trying to ignore my embarrassment and realize my booty will appreciate it (hopefully)

I sucked it up and bought it
redhead_che replied to redhead_che's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Update: it’s amazing. Things are going very smoothly best purchase ever -
Amen. Just bought one and my life is totally changed. No more BM stress!

My usual is 30-50 carbs a day. I will say the few times I’ve gone up to 70 carbs my “stalls” have broken too. But I’m happy at 30-50 most days since I still need to get 60g protein before that.

Weird that no one at work has commented on my weight-loss..
redhead_che replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah for awhile my coworkers didn’t say anything and then someone finally asked for the group. They thought I was ill, like dying ill. It could be something like that where they fear the weight loss is because of something not good. -
I remember that feeling vividly, I’m now 4 months post op. It gets better, but it can be slightly unnerving!

Anxiety and Surgery
redhead_che replied to mitchjoann132010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mentioned my anxiety diagnosis about a million times in the pre op process so my surgeon understood how serious I was about taking an anti anxiety med the day of surgery. They gave me IV anti anxiety medicine despite the anesthesiologist’s push back. I won that battle. I ended up needing two more doses post op before discharge. No issues or side effects, my team was understanding. -
Hug a pillow when you need to cough. I got a cold right after surgery and coughing felt the same way for me. But someone told me to hug a pillow against my stomach and it felt much more tolerable.

Loved eggs immediately post op when I could eat soft foods, then went through a phase of hating them. Now I’m OK with hard boiled. Cant stand anything with balsamic in it anymore. But otherwise so far so good!

Bariatric surgery and restaurants
redhead_che replied to MermaidInAZ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’ve ate out maybe 5-6 times since surgery in November. Red Robin was a success, so was Panera. Sushi and Mexican not at all successful. Made my stomach feel like I was eating straight acid. -
I kept it to just my boyfriend and parents for a month or two... then realized people basically already knew. You don’t typically lose 65lbs in 4 months 😂 so I started telling anyone who was brave enough to ask me what I was doing.

Personally, my program allowed only 3 "meals" a day, no more, no snacks, so we do have a different plan, but I'll share what worked for me. But it really was a struggle, so I hear you completely! I never felt hungry and I was dreading eating again at the next meal time. I also remember glaring at my cup of liquid and wishing it would just disappear. BUT I set alarms on my phone every 15 minutes to remind me to drink. I honestly did wake up earlier just because I needed more time to drink and get my ounces in. Try setting alarms for meal times and water/liquid reminders. It's probably all you think about, but when that buzzer goes off, gotta do it. Remember no liquids 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after a meal too. Early on, it's a lot of thinking and a lot of alarms or feeling like you are constantly trying to eat or drink. It gets a LOT better in my experience. I'm 5 months out now and it's less of a mind game, your body adjusts. Good luck! Hopefully others keep posting with suggestions! It was a lot of mind over matter for me early on so if you believe you can get the protein and liquid in, you'll find a way to do it!

Post Surgery Blood Thinners
redhead_che replied to Frustr8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on Lovenox injections for 7 days post op. I was a wimp about it and my mom and boyfriend injected them
