    Books about food addiction/obesity

I read that one as well and enjoyed it.
  2. My nutritionist was useless too. It was stuff a high school student in fitness/nutrition class would know. Google was more helpful

    What's your non-scale victory?

Fitting into the bikini in my profile picture was my best NSV!

    Coughing

And hug a pillow when you do need to cough. Helps with the pain.
  5. I might be the only one willing to talk about it, but it’s mentally challenging too. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies when you get close to goal. I have a hard time as seeing myself as healthy/thinned. I still very much feel like the fat kid sometimes. Also the “old me” sometimes tries to come back and say “yeah totally go get that Sonic sandwich” and crap like that. Is it better, yes. Is it easier, not in every aspect of life. But that’s just my two cents. I’m young , I have a lot of time to reconcile my feelings about it all 😂

    November sleevers here

Thanks! Honestly most of my workouts are HIIT style (30 min avg) including free weights and keeping my heart rate up. My exercise ideas come from my coworker (bless her) or Pinterest—I literally have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to examples of workouts. It’s got so many resources and options to save and go back to!
  7. I was a 33 BMI I think. I didn’t think about what anyone else’s opinion was. I was 27 and only gaining more. I decided to take control of my diet so I could live my best life. I didn’t feel judged at all by my surgeon office/staff—in fact, my surgeon said I was an ideal patient due to my age and lack of major comorbidities. I also wanted surgery to prevent those too!

    Exhausted/Tired

^^ This was me exactly. except for 2.5 weeks of it

    I feel scared and ashamed...

I was very anxious before my surgery...up until I walked in the day OF surgery. It's like all of my fears went away and I felt this peace of, "yeah, I'm doing the right thing." ...the RN staff helped a lot too...I will always value RN/surgery staff that you can clearly tell do this all the time and run through pre-op like a well oiled machine.

    Goal Setting

Yes, my surgeon's told me how much I could expect to lose total after surgery and that it was possible to exceed that expected percentage. My surgeon said "you can lose 60% of your excess weight or more" basically. I'm in the "or more" category at the moment. In my experience, they want to give a conservative estimate since not everyone makes it to their expected loss. Also at each post op visit where weight loss was monitored (ie: not just the staple removal appt) they would say if i was on track or exceeding expectations. You can certainly call the office's nurse line and ask approximately what you should be losing per month. And yes, I think 40 pounds down 6 weeks out sounds like fabulous progress--but I'm not your surgeon so I don't reeeally know I didn't reward myself with prizes because that would personally take me down a path of rewarding myself for something I really just needed to do for my health. I do a little cheer every time I meet a goal and maybe get a coffee that week, but my big prize to myself will be a new wardrobe at goal or under goal. So that's expensive enough! I have a history of holding myself to high standards though, so prizes at mini milestones are like "yeah well you should be doing this anyway so keep it up!" ha.
  11. 6 months out was my 3 week (at least) stall. Finally realized I needed to crank it up in the gym a little more and eat a little different to shake it up. Thank goodness that passed, it was mentally exhausting.

Thank you! Also, when I stalled for 3 weeks I was also at 147-148! Power through, you got it!

    3/29 sleever stall

Not really--Snacking was never on my surgeon/nutritionist plan they gave me so I never snacked. So I guess my body was trained or knows to expect food in the AM, lunch, and dinner and that's it. I don't see then nutritionist again unless I want to, which I don't (would have to pay for it, not included in my surgery). I think my program's average calories as it said in my binder was 800-1,000 a day or less once you reach 8weeks out. I just happen to meet it in less than that and so far no consequences. I have my yearly already scheduled so we'll see what they say about it then. Syntrax has both types. The Fuzzy Navel is fruity, tastes like orange juice to me. The cookie flavor I have is better with almond milk if I have it and that'll taste milky, maybe too sweet for some but I like it.

    3/29 sleever stall

That's it, this is a day's worth in the life of Redhead I drink my 16 oz (or 8 oz if it's the cookie flavor) of water in my shake, then from like, 8am-10am I've finished another 24 oz. And from around 12:30-3 I'm working on the next 24 oz. Finish whatever I still need to at home after dinner and typically before 8pm. I keep a water on my nightstand if I get thirsty in the night, but try not to break into any food or liquid after 8. This is pretty average for me. It's pretty low fiber so sometimes I supplement, sometimes I don't. My pipes run smooth enough so to speak so I don't worry about it a lot. I haven't seen the nutritionist since like, a month post op, but she said "it's not really about calories, it's about your macros" so if I meet my protein (the one I worry about) in less than 400 calories and feel full, I'm chill.

    3/29 sleever stall

This is today’s food rundown. 381 calories. 60 grams of protein. 11 grams of fat. 8 carbs. B: Protein shake with water. Syntrax fuzzy navel, so good, but needs 16 oz of water or it clumps. L: 2 oz low sodium deli turkey and 1 oz low moisture mozzerella D: it’s a chicken and mushroom dish. Unsure of oz. the whole recipe makes six servings and this is a serving.

    Hair loss

8 months out. Hair still falls out, a lot less at least. Months 4-6 were the worst. Thankfully I had pretty thick hair and it's not terribly noticeable. But hoping it stops soon

    3/29 sleever stall

I can do that tomorrow! I've already got my meals planned in my head so I think I can remember to snap a pic of my exciting protein shake, lunch meat/cheese, and chicken with mushrooms (or fish....can't decide...tilapia with paprika sounds so good...) but yes. I'll post something!
  22. redhead_che

    3/29 sleever stall

It's a protein shake in the AM, lunch meat/piece of cheese for lunch, and usually fish or some sort of chicken dish for dinner. Portion sizes are small. Nothing fancy! My protein shake gives me a good chunk of it, as does the fish. Also super low carb (most days). I will say I ate fish tacos yesterday so I'm no angel

    Hormonal imbalances after surgery?

I deal with this too. I’m on a pill and my doctor said even if I had the sleeve, absorption could be a factor (not as effective) and I might need to consider an implant or IUD. No thanks doc. 😂

    3/29 sleever stall

I was a low BMI-er as well @apositivelife4me and hit one stall about 2 months ago. (6 months post op). Otherwise had steady weight loss. When I hit my stall it was exercise 3 times a week with weight training included that broke my stall. It had less to do with nutrition. I still only eat 500 or less a day, but adding that work out component with weights specifically was magic.
