HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE POST OP--in Pain and in tears!
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to NatureLover888's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I stopped my opiates about 40 hours after surgery. I thought Tylenol was a waste of time as pre-surgery it never seemed to help, but they put it in IV and it did keep the edge off the pain as I got us and walking. Had the final one three days post surgery - I had open surgery (8 inch incision, breast bone to navel, plus rib cage cracked open, to clear up some gastric band complications. So I also had slow local anasthetic dripping into the wound for 48 hours which was great. i was keen to get off the heavy drugs - to avoid the fuzzy head and especially the nausea associated with them. All I can say, my friend, is every day gets better, and now is an important time to focus on you - water sips in, protein in, and your new life looking forward... -
Welcome to this side of the deep sleep. Hereβs to losing through 2018!

My surgery was the same day. I think it will be protein shakes middle of the day for me for a little while. -
OMG you are a domestic goddess! Can I come live with YOU??

13 days post op & total weight stall...
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Cheryl83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too Cheryl83 - not a pound since last Wednesday - in fact I am now a bit heavier than I was then! It does make you feel a bit despondent. BUT I remember 10 years ago when I had my lap band, this would happen - and then there would be a big drop. I also found gaps in weigh drop were often accompanied by size drop - like maybe your body is redistributing fat around. Yesterday I realised I fit my old wedding ring again (my fingers are getting thinner!) and my jeans are down a size. I keep reminding myself that I KNOW, inside, that it will happen... -
8 months post op

And to you - aroha from New Zealand -
I suspect you are right - after eating nothing, the pesto cottage cheese is salty, the feta is salty. I know it will pass - meanwhile, my fingers are getting thin - have had to swap ring fingers, and have my old wedding ring back on! Yay!!

Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Lola4rmKona's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for sharing - you look stunning! It is so inspirational to those of us months behind you! -
Hi guys I am 2.5 weeks out. Lost 20 pounds in the first two weeks - then put ON 2 pounds (how does that happen in 24 hours when my soft food didnβt even WEIGH that much!! And have held it there since Wednesday. Sheesh. I reckon I am gaining weight from THINKING about eating, cos thatβs about all I do! But, I know, be patient. It will happen. I can see some change. My beautiful old ring I havenβt worn for years slid right on today!! So my hands are it, for now!!

Am I eating too much for 10 days post-op?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to wesja's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank heavens for your post! I have had a really easy recovery from my surgery 14 Dec, and I am the same re eating. I said to my partner βmaybe he just did the cutting, took my band out, and no bypassβ - I feel like I could eat anything!! Today - pottle of yoghurt for breakfast. I take 10 mins because I am supposed to, but not because of how it feels. Lunch - an Oopsie roll (look up the recipe - great!) with 1/4 cup cottage cheese. Over 15 mins. I did have a soft boiled egg yesterday which I ate too fast - bit of a lump in my chest, very mildly thought I might be sick, a bit clammy. So that might be my βdumpingβ ensation if I eat too fast? Am up to 50 G protein, 700 calories a day. Effortless. I get tempted to push, see what I can eat, but am resisting. Wisely, while surgery so fresh! (Also, for me, no weight loss since Wednesday! Sigh.) -
Can I go from a gastric bypass to a Sleeve?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Lboogie82's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi there As everyone else is saying, not really no - and the sleeve is less powerful, not more. 40lbs in 4 months is ok but I assume from your post you are feeling despondent, wishing it was faster? The sleeve will not do that, but if you think it is too slow, talk with your surgeon? But... 10lbs a month is a pretty good, healthy weight loss... Tell us more about what is going on - it helps if we know your original weight too. x -
I am 16 days post op. On soft foods for the last week or so. I canβt tell if I am full - sticking to the guidelines for how much to eat (2-3 tablespoons yoghurt or cottage cheese) but donβt feel full, regurgitate. I have just in the last two days noticed that if I eat too fast I get sudden fatigue, think βmaybe I might be sickβ and a bit clammy - passes after 15 mins. Mild dumping - has been a good incentive to slow down! Not feeling full bothers me - temptation to eat more until I do. Never been much good with resisting temptation! But am resisting this - my tummy is still healing, I keep telling myself. Treat it gently!

Me too - I had my band removed and an RNY on 14 December. Keen to form a group - I am doing really well, but I donβt seem to be βreadingβ my ne tummy well yet - wondered if 10 years with the band contributes to that...

BariatricPal Products
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Lindsay_Sayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I have. Their mixed soups are utterly the best thing ever! I so got sick of sweet stuff. I have one each day. Will be ordering the cauliflower and cheese soup next. (I also bought the syntrax nectar from the store - a bit milky tasting which I found odd in βlemonadeβ or βgrapefruitβ but was ok in a smoothie) -
Sleeping positions
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to sleevedin2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes - I am also a side sleeper. For the first four nights I slept in a recliner chair in hospital. Once home and in a bed, I could sleep comfortably on my side with a soft cushion/short pillow sort of under my tummy. A few days later, I just seemed to hold it in front of my tummy, and now just over two weeks post surgery I donβt need it. Makes the world of difference getting a good sleep! Good luck... -

unflavored protein powder recommendations?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Miss Topaz's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hi there i find most of the flavoured ones way way too sweet. Here on the BariatricPal store there is Bariatric fusion unflavoured one that was good added to applesauce or gravy. I also really like their mixed soup pack, for savoury protein... -

Post op pain
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Anna2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi hon - it must be hard to watch your mom go through this. So lovely you are there. Keeping on top of the pain from the start is important, and it is very rough that they messed that up. It does pass very quickly though - I had open surgery (not laparoscopic) and was cut open from ribs to tummy button - three days later I was only taking the odd Paracetamol. So it passes quick. If she had laparoscopic surgery, the gas they pumped in to her abdomen to separate her organs is very painful after the op - many short walks helps that A LOT, and will help her back too. Also, a recliner chair was easier than a bed, for me. Take care of yourself while you do this hard stuff for your mom... -
Ok, how long to go down a trouser size?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Biddy zz π³οΈπ's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Canβt wait for that! I remember with the gastric band (which I just revised to a bypass) I went from a 18DD to a 14DD pretty much exactly when I crossed the BMI βobeseβ down to BMI βoverweightβ. A month to six weeks away, I reckon... YAY! Good breasts are a wonderful thing, but I like mine better when they donβt feel like a matron bossom! -
Ok, how long to go down a trouser size?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi All, 6 more sleeps. Getting a bit nervous. But I feel prepared and, thanks to you all, informed. Smelly gas, breath, pain, fatigue, etc. And I know there is no rush, but... Go on, cheer a girl up - how long until I drop a trouser size?? I am a 20 now. Will I still be a 20 in six weeks when I go back to work?? -
