Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Joyful4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 12 weeks out. Weight loss started at 6 lb a week at first, then slowed. Average for the 12 weeks - 4.5lb a week. You arenβt far shy of that at 4.125 - better than near any diet! Last week and this, I lost 2 lbs - but these two weeks, the comments really have started, and I am down another pants size. The best thing with this - it is way easier, I find βprotein firstβ a really easy mantra, and the weight loss just goes on and on - and I donβt feel like I am βon a dietβ. Yay! Follow your plan, and youβll do great. -
How often do you throw up?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to MN_Meg770's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a bypass and have a vomiting phobia. I have not vomited once and it is NOT normal! A couple of times I ate too much sweet thing and got βdumpingβ - the sugar dumps into your intestine and you get nausea, sweats, heart racing - I didnβt vomit but it was close enough it has given me great aversion therapy to sweets! -
12 weeks today - record of progress

Great quote! I am going to steal it, shamelessly use it, and neglect to attribute it! π -
Very discouraged op 1/11/18
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to abrasmile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is a hard time - things do change, so try and just do one day at a time. You have lost 27lbs? Amazing! Be proud. My tastebuds changed, and many of us are surprised how much we can eat. This changes a bit, too. My RNY feels tighter now than 6 weeks ago. Just stick to your plan - mostly, it slowly comes to a good place. And did I ask - 27lbs in a month?!! -
Out With the Old--In With the New!
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Donβt worry too much - even when I feel hungry and have food, the serving is still maybe 1/4 what I used to eat. It is kinda hard to describe, but I donβt so much get full as... lose interest. Lose the drive to have another mouthful. Get distracted from eating. And so, stop. This is a new experience for someone who binge ate until I was uncomfortable, BS (Before Surgery). -
Oh flower! I parted ways with my 9 year old band last December but was hugely lucky enough to get the βAll in oneβ - removal and surgery and my RNY same op - mind you, I had to have open surgery. But now, all is fan-bloody-tastic just 12 weeks later! My only words of advice - be kind to yourself. You might gain a bit of weight over this time but as far as you can manage, donβt go wild and pack the food in because it will make the post-bypass weightloss that much longer, youβll regret it. But be kind because unfamiliar hunger will remake your acquaintance! Try and remember your good rules - and be kind when you slip! Time will pass...

Unsupportive spouse
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Little L's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is he a big fellah? Maybe he is anxious someone will whip you away? But you have to talk! He needs to own how he feels, not call you names. It is rude and you are supposed to be his βcherish and protectβ person... -
Out With the Old--In With the New!
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If it helps, @FluffyChixI was one of the βomg I donβt think he even DID the operation cos I can eat anythingβ ones. Two things - my stomach definitely βtightened upβ or the nerves fired differently or something, a few weeks in, and I noticed I got fuller quicker, less hungry between meals, etc Also, I can feel not full as I eat, not full, not full, not full, oooops way too full. It does sort of sneak up and bam, food sitting in your throat. I still pretty much organise food by helping size. 1/2 cup ish of solids, including my protein. It is odd, learning to drive a new organ! -
Agree with that last post - look up βstallβ and youβll see it is a hugely common topic on this forum! It will break, it will. Just stick to your plan. One thing that might help - when I am in a stall, it is often then that I drop a size in pants or shirts!

Surgeon didn't complete my Gastric Bypass surgery!
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to numinousvessel's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi @numinousvessel - and thanks for the message. There are a few people here stuck a bit in limbo - they and you have my huge admiration at how you all manage a wait without knowing. You might find it interesting to read the thread called βOut with the old in with the newβ by fluffychix. Her wait was extraordinary, until she got surgery just a couple of weeks ago. Take care, my friend. -
unflavored protein powder
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to lorena090's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The unflavoured is ... well, I donβt like it! I tried the Nectar fruity shakes, read they were good - but the odd milky protein flavour was, to me, just so weird in apple juice! The taste of βunflavouredβ is not to my taste, be it whey or pea. But, after a fair few tries, I have hit on a recipe that disguises it, so maybe try this: one nespresso pod, as a long shot, chilled overnight splash of milk heaped scoop of the least sweet vanilla protein powder I could find 6 ice cubes. Blitz in NutriBullet and voila, a perfect quick breakfast. The coffee takes away the protein powder sweet, the ice cubes make it thick. -

Itβll be a great day for me. Warm, autumn just starting but the sun is shining, I peeβd away a pound overnight and am no longer βobeseβ and I am walking on air!! -

With due respect to the OP about veering off post (but the OP was me, so βgo ahead, sweetie, permission grantedβ) I AM OFFICIALLY NO LONGER OBESE !!! Yeeee-fβing-haaaaaaaa I know, here on the side of the page it says 30 but that is just rounding - the calculator says 29.8 and that is just beautiful! -

Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@FluffyChix I was doing an Internet search to find the recipe for some low carb βopsieβ Rolls I saw someone post about quite a while back and came across a website with some GREAT low carb recipes that, for various reasons, I thought might be you. I wonβt put the link here because it might break rules (?) but if it is, you are even more gifted in the recipe front that I realised! I am having the chilli chicken hot wings tonight - a few calories but low carb, and frankly I damned near stuffed myself last night (healthy egg and tempeh quiche, salads, relish, followed by fruit salad and yoghurt) and still didnβt touch 1000, so calories arenβt really my problem... -
Had my Three Month check up
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Fantastic news @Creekimp13 I am at week 11 and had early bloods because of regular slightly odd bruising. And like you - the results are damned near perfect! Good sugars, iron, b12, cholesterol. What a kick! (The bruising - they put down to me being more active, but we are keeping an eye on it.) -

Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to Biddy zz π³οΈπ's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I still LOVE the spices. In fact before I left hospital (I had open surgery and a 6 day stay) I was adding chilli to my yoghurt. I had never heard of sriracha until here - tracked some down (see how influential you people are?) and it is my new favourite! As for salty-crunchy, @MrsGamgee, I have discovered a new thing for me - beetroot chips. Salty, crunch, and after about half a dozen, I am content. These days I seem to effortlessly stop eating before I feel stuffed. Hard to describe - I seem to sort of lose interest, even in my favourites, before I get stuffed full. A new phenomenon for me. -
None, not a one. I love my new, simpler approach to eating. I still like my food, but my tastes have shifted a bit. I love fitting back in my old, carefully stored away clothes. I love trotting up the stairs, not labouring. I love feeling sexier. It is all beer and skittles for me, 11 weeks out....

Oo shittttt t-minus 6 more days
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to meli81's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And I know not everyone reacts to this the same - BUT I LOVE IT! I eat for protein. I like my food - but the desire to just binge eat for emotional needs hasnβt reared itβs ugly head once in my 11 weeks. Iβdβve done the surgery just for THAT change - and losing the self-loathing that accompanies it. I love my new life - counting down with you to get yours, my friend. -
weight gain/bloating and mood swings
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to jesswecan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Jesswecan Welcome to post-surgery! Yep, these things are both truly normal, and both will settle. Gaining weight - you were on drips, have swelling, and have gained fluid. It passes, just gotta be patient. Mood swings - very common after a general anaesthetic. It really messes with you! Be kind to yourself, take it slow and steady - you will be a βloserβ like the rest of us in no time! -

A real motivator for me originally, when I got my band, was roller coaster seats at Disneyland. Being told to get out of the roller coaster because I wa too big to get the safety brace closed, in front of family, was mortifying... -

Damned good idea re the gabapentin. Talking to my (non-medically) addiction-leaning grandson, of everything he got himself off he thought gabapentin was the worst. But you are right, a week isnβt three years addiction! But this is just me talking - I hate taking medicines for anything, while my partner tosses βem back and has a βwhy put up with discomfort when a pill will fix itβ approach. Poor liver. Why are they giving it to you? Seems you have done great through surgery, you donβt have much pain - do you have epilepsy? -
May Be Facing Revision; Please Share Your Experience
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to mylighthouse's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)

5 days post op. Am I dumping?
Biddy zz π³οΈπ replied to rxnrxn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sounds like dumping - I ate a protein bar with 20g protein, 17g total carbs, once, with terrible results (in a cafe!) Just a thought - how fast did you drink it? That seems like a big quantity for 5 days out. Too much or too fast can also cause dumping, in my experience. -

Checking - 1 fluid oz of the protein drink?? 30ml? Couple of tablespoons? Does this just make it a bit runnier, as opposed to making it fluid?
