I had my surgery in Tijuana, Mexico. In researching places to go, there are many p,laces that are affiliated with credit/ loan programs. My friend used this method for her surgery. They did pull her credit and after approved she now has monthly payments to make. I do not know the company that she used for financing. But she found the option for financing on the Obesity Control Center website. I hope that helps.

Labs done outside of your surgeon?

I agree get yourself another doctor! You should be able to get a full blood panel, liver enzyme panel, kidney function test, thyroid levels, vitamin B and D levels. All of those things would show exactly what you may or may not be low in. If your doctor does not know that - there is a problem with your doctor. Good luck! -

I had my surgery there after a lot of research. I am an experienced nurse, so I really took a good look at many places that were available, and care was important to me. Yes, some are cheaper, but my life is worth the difference in cost. The first thing that stood out to me was that the facility was JACCHO certified ,the is an accreditation that many hospitals and medical facilities in the U.S. do not have, and it is not easy to obtain. Also, at OCC! The success rate, as well as the extremely low complication rate is another important factor to note. Secondy, I researched Dr. Ortiz, and watched many of his videos, and this also made me feel quite comfortable with going to have surgery at OCC. When I did have my surgery, the facility was impeccablely clean. The staff was more than nurturing, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They immediately responded to anyone that had a problem, call light on and ran to do it. I was experiencing some asthma after my procedure and I awoke in the night to the physician at my bedside, not because I was critical, but as he was just monitoring my status. Trust me, that does not happen in the U.S. Also, some of the physicians also practice in San Diego at the hospital there, as it is only 15 minutes away from OCC. So, they are just not “Mexico doctors”. Lastly the weather is beautiful and the Marriott staff are fully versed on your needs as they go above and beyond to take the best care do patients and their families. There are too many positives about OCC for anyone not to choose this facility and the physicians. Plus the follow up is great, and you can always reach a provider or staff by phone or email with a question, and get an immediate answer. I now have friends traveling for surgery soon to, have the same experience. I think you will be happy with your decision, good luck! -

Make sure you are drinking enough water or liquids. If water is hard to drink try crystal light lemonade. Make sure you are at least walking every day if not exercising. Also make sure if you are eating it is the majority of protein in your diet, and definitely don’t go over your calorie restriction. My group of buddies was told to intake 60 grams of protein a day. The only other thing is you can become “backed up” even though you have not been eating a lot. So, miralax or the generic is what doctors recommend, just to follow the directions. Hope that helps! Good luck.
