Fill Amount Question; Fill Centers USA comment
wildercrews replied to ImaKaren4U's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a AP large band and received 4 cc at my first fill. Feel great. Just right. Each person has a different experience. -
Thanks for the info. I had my first fill yesterday - 4 cc in a AP large. The nurse said that the 4 added to 2 already in made it 6 cc. I feel pretty good, not too tight.

Recently Banded - My Experience So Far

Great! Try Unjur Protein - very good especially vanilla and strawberry. -
I was banded at 8:30 am on April 14 and remained in the hospital 26 hours which is routine. Up to walk every 3-4 hours and had Clear liquids. If you vomited or had a fever, I was told they would not discharge me. Everything went well. The gas is HORRIBLE for the first 2 weeks post-op but it goes away particulary the more you walk it off. Good luck

Congrats! It took me 10 months for clearances and approvals. Yes, the insurance denied me at first. But I was filled on April 14. One of the best decisions I ever made.

Thank you, thank you. Ordered one today.

insurance denied need help
wildercrews replied to annetsteph's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I was needed for the same reason. Appeal the decision and ask your primary physican and surgeon to help you. Once they received the complete 6 month diet history, I was approved. Took 7 days. Be encouraged. -
Aetna POSII proving previous diets.
wildercrews replied to Flowerpurr's topic in Insurance & Financing
Aetna is NOT customer friendly regarding bariatric approvals. Aetna denied my request in December 2007 and the Lap Band surgeons had to call Aetna's medical director to ask them to reconsider. One week later I was approved. I was approved Jan 4 and banded April 14. Be encouraged. -

NDwife, congrats! Yours went smoothly. It took me 10 months to get approval. It was the physican 6 month diet notes that was the hold up. I was banded April 14 and everything is good. No problems. -
Help!! someone!!!PLEASE!!!
wildercrews replied to willsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jack, I totally agree with you regarding willsmommy. I didn't want to eat and only did clear liquids for 1 week and full liquids for 3 weeks. I just started the mushies. I am taking it slow and it is paying off. Lost 25 pounds. 10 pounds pre-op and 15 pounds post-op. Banded Apr 14 -
Hi everybody. Somebody asked me this question: How long can you have a band - 2 years, 5 years? Anyone know? Thanks.

For Those who have reduced or lowered their BP meds
wildercrews replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That occurred to me about 2 weeks post-op with a 25 weight lost. My BP was 90/50 for 4 mornings. I called my primary and she said to discontinue Norvasc. I saw her last week for a follow-up and BP is normal. She said with another 25 pound weight lost, I should be able to discontinue the diabetes oral meds. Great! Grammy in Columbus -
Welcome. I was banded on April 14 and have lost a total of 25 pounds including the pre and post op diet. Yes, you can have Pasta and rice at about 4 weeks post op. Bread, I don't know when that occurs. Follow your doctor/nutiritionist's instructions - it makes life a lot better. There is a thread on food and nutrition that is great. Be blessed.
